Finally after all these years this is available to see. Thanks. Next let’s find the film portion of Wheeler’s Vitaphone short Small Timers. I have the soundtrack but not the film.
At last! The only short film that featured Wheeler & Woolsey has finally been uploaded on UA-cam. A funny satire about Cleopatra and Ceaser as performed by the duo with a wonderful cast of characters.
The BFI also has some 35mm material both in color and black and white on Rio Rita (1929) which may preserve many of the scenes that are missing from the currently circulating prints. It will be public domain in less than two years.
W & W fans will find additional information, and a rare Oh! Oh! Cleopatra lobby card, in my 2022 book (cowritten with Gary Rhodes), The Palgrave Encyclopedia of American Horror Film Shorts, 1915-1976. We were thrilled to have found this one!
@@retrochick1920 There is no evidence that the uncut version of "So This Is Africa" survives. The uncut version of "Rio Rita", however, does survive in numerous hands and numerous clips are on youtube such as the Kinkajou number, a chorus number in color. On nitrateville there is someone who claims to have all the cut numbers on 16mm. The BFI has various reels in 35mm and 16mm. The original trailer is on youtube and has a section of the Wheeler and Woolsey number "Are You There?" and "the waltz number with Bebe Daniels and John Boles.
What a great joy to finally see this masterwork, which so deeply influenced the likes of Liz Taylor, Joseph Mankiewitz, Gal Gadot and David Lee Roth! Also a valuable warning to kids to stay off drugs -- they'll make a monkey out of you in the end!
You're all going to hate me you all love it I think it's the worst piece of junk I've ever seen now I'm not a Wheeler and Woolsey fan but this is the worst okay come and get me
Holy Crap! Didnt know this actually existed!
We didn't see it it's all in our imagination is a bad dream

Brilliant! Man I love those guys!
It's really interesting to see James Finlayson without his mustache.
Woohoo! Now I will have seen all of their films! Thank you SO MUCH!
Marvellous. Thanks 👍 very much for sharing.

E@tcmintrosandwrap-ups1994 Aw, that ain't nothin'! I've got a whole jar of Doc Swinestein's pills!
@tcmintrosandwrap-ups1994 Is the "So This is Africa" script as racy as legend has it?
WOW. Thanks for sharing.
This film was amazing😊
It's amazing all right amazingly awful I can't believe they spent much money to restore it. I know I'm going to get kicked back for saying that
the "amos & andy" remark kinda took me by surprise.
great i love this
What a find! Now if only someone can find the cut scenes from "So This Is Africa" (and if only STIA was available on DVD).
Yes, find all the cut scenes in So This Is Africa. All 30 minutes of them. One third of the film is missing.
@@retrochick1920 but some of the cut material survives on one disc
I am more interested in the cut scenes, some of them in color, from "Rio Rita" 1929

Is there any chance of finding the uncut version of "The Stolen Jools" featuring the musical numbers?

Are you serious are you just making a really satirical joke I hope
Is that Max Davidson as one of the "three rhythm boys"? Edit: Just went back and checked the credits. Yep, it's him. 😊
Can you put more of mickey mcguire films if you're still going to do that
