It's actually easy so long as you make sure the back styles in a way that allows you to comfortably lay flat on your back. And also, the longer your hair is, the knots tend to bend out towards the sides from your pillow.
I’m in my 40’s so I understand her mother’s reaction. In Jamaica we wear chimney bumps after washing to dry our hair back in the days, but would never wear them out of the neighborhood. I wasn’t allowed to wear them to school and my sister would not wear them to work back then. Now, I wear them to work lol. Older generation in my family would not.
I wear this style all the time. Especially in the summer on my 4c kinky, knotty, coily hair becuase it keeps my neck cool and prevents humidity from undoing my styles. I wear it to work, school, home, in the neighborhood. Just becuase society "discovered" this style in Orange is the new Black they assume I'm crazy and know krazer lmao! So nobody squares up against me and makes way for me to pass. Lol!
I LOVE doing bantu knots and I’ve always wanted to go out with them but was discouraged to do so. Nowadays I see more and more ppl rock it outside and even for fotoshoots, i love it !!! Almost any hairstyle on looser curls are deemed more acceptable/presentable, it’s annoying but I’ve learned to shrug those opinions off.
Oh I love it now and it’s my go to “I don’t feel like doing ish with my hair but I still wanna look cute” hairstyle lol 😂. Growing up in Jamaica my mom would do my hair like that (normally right after washing my hair) and I’d go out and get laughed at so I grew up not liking the style but since couple years now I’ve just been loving it!!
TheCopperFro one of my aunts used to rock it EVERYWHERE and I used to be so intrigued by it but too scared of being teased to try it. But since I’ve stopped using chemicals on my hair ( 5 years ago) I’ve been trying it out and loving it more and more with time.
Couldn’t agree more. 4c hair gets NO LOVE when it comes to certain hairstyles! “Bantu knots” being one of them. I must admit I’m not one to wear Bantu knots but I will rock a Bantu knot out. It looks super cute on you though! Thanks for sharing!👍🏾💕
Girl, For me it's the opposite 😂😂😂 I feel like I look better in Bantu knots than a Bantu knot out. And you're right about 4c hair getting no love on certain hairstyles. People are just so Anti-4c sometimes.
Nethania Pierre I hear you. I think Bantu knots are so beautiful and Afrocentric, they definitely make a statement and I love that! I bet yours are beautiful as well. Keep rocking em!😉
I pray to some day have your courage to wear my natural 4c hair in styles I never really thought I could or should. I discovered your channel about a week ago and you have been such an inspiration. You, your hair, and mostly your spirit is so beautiful.
Honestly, I love it! You could even jazz it up a bit more with putting hair jewelry into each knot. Or leaving two little tendrils out on the sides, or even dress it up with a cute little headband or leave out bangs. Sooo many versatile options with these! Super cute!
I use to be obsessed with "slick" and "gel-ed down" hairstyles on my 4c hair and it made my natural hair seem high maintenance and hard to manage . Now I just let my hair do what it want to do and it's just so much easier.
I have never had the courage to go out in public with Bantu knots-even with "slayed" edges. Your boyfriend and mother stated what I thought may be the perception, so I always end up taking them down and separating them. 😭😭 Your hair looks beautiful. 😊
You make every style look great! I have a love-hate relationship with Bantu knots. But when I worked with kids back in Miami, I would wear my hair in Bantu knots around them before taking the knots down to normalize the look.
You look absolutely gorgeous 😍. I agree with you the 4c curls (that refuse to be smoothed) make people give it a second glance and they do judge it as unfinished. I used to feel some kind of way when I first started my journey but I have learned to accept that these 4c curls are not intended to be completely smoothed out so I let it do what it do!
I like both the knots as a style. And I like the fluffy fro look it created later during take down. If you go into them right after wash day you could probably wear em for two weeks and than maybe another week or two after take down. 💜🤗
Yes, it is beautiful, you're beautiful, and it's finished. Love it, especially the partings. I've noticed that some people think Bantu knots are ok on little girls only. Not true. You wear it well 💜
@@runsprints4life767 great question...i hope so because if it's not im going to have to NOT SUPPORT IT because im sick of BLACK PEOPLE making WHITE people & ASIANS BILLIONS
Beautiful and your hair is beautiful 😍 I'm transitioning back to natural and its 12 months of growth. I have been doing bantu knots all summer! I agree with you about 4c hairstyles.
You can’t blame Mama. It’s the legacy of colonialism and white superiority, especially in the era she grew up. The CROWN Act (passed just last year in certain states, NOT all) seeks to end the allowed discrimination against Black women for wearing there hair in certain styles especially in the setting of work. Yes, in some states in the USA, black women employees can be targeted for certain “black” hairstyles ! In the military, it’s still a big problem for black women. Imagine that !
That's how i "style". Mine is not that well parted either. I do twists and bantu knot them. Didn't know this wasn't presentable. You learn something new everyday. I live in the UK though. I think people where i live do not care.
Ive tried that mask in the past and it really didn't impress me much. But then again thst was earrrrly in my hair journey while transitioning. I think ill give it another go! I am obsessed with TGIN Honey Miracle Mask. Smells yummy and very hydrating.
I did this style last week and I thought it was really cute. Mine was a lot chunkier (I had 7 knots total). Your family didn't see the big picture lol, it looks AMAZING on you. 😍😍😍 I think Beyonce wearing Bantu knots in her already music video brought the style back again. Somehow everyone is wearing Bantu knots everywhere I turn. 😂😂😂
Yes mame we sure do!!! You always look gorgeous as you always do. Bantu knots have been around forever i used to get this done when I was younger and I still get the same thing done now. Yes hunty yesss 👏 👏 👏
I cannot WAIT until I can do this with my hair! I just got the big chop/buzz 5 weeks ago, so I can't do this yet. I'll be back, though. I LOVE both looks!
Omg this is why I subscribeddd omg love that about you Jennn!! You really rock each style & it's so awesome- I absolutely love wearing my hair in styles that are "unfinished", feels so good to have some twins out there!
Ugh I miss Bantu knots so much!!! I actually do Nubian knots, which are a lot smaller than Bantus! But, I love both variations. This was actually the first style I could do successfully! I can’t wait to do this once my undercut grows out enough!
I think your hair is gorgeous and make up is on point. I love the whoke look. I'm going to copy and do my hair the same but maybe parting it differently.
Looks nice! I didn’t have time to style, so I’m wearing an Afro on my tight 4c hair. There’s a salon that will cut curly hair and then encourage you to wear your loose curls without manipulation. I want to trust that they’ll respect my hair, but I don’t see tight curls like mine in their portfolio. 👀
My favorite idgaf if they like it or nah style is two strand twists bobby pinned in every willy nilly direction to stretch them. A lot of people compliment me on them. I like keeping it casual.
I disagree with them, your Bantu Knots look great! I have a looser 3C/4A/4B situation that makes mine look more like Bantu NOTS 😂 Mine don’t even want to stay in for 5 minutes and when I sleep on them the next day they look out of sorts and flat. I’m a new sub to your channel and I love how you always look awesome. That sunset eyeshadow looks great on you!
Oh Wow! those bantu knots look sooo good! Thank you! I'm so gonna try those! Just need to work on perfecting my twist and flat twist!😅🤗 Question: Whats your secret to the perfect flat twist? I tried to do mine last night and ended up doing cornrows cause like those twist won't stay in place!
Please let the thing go. Your hairstyle looks good periodt pooh! You can add gel or whatever, but we're past the fact that you're 4c. This style doesn't ONLY look good on a looser curl pattern. I think the thicker your hair is the better Bantu knots can look. Overall you did this sis, including the face!Very lovely...👍👏👏
Jenn, my wash day was yesterday and I've already placed my hair in a protective style. Now seeing you moisturizing and detangling yours makes me wana unravel mine. Lol #torture
Sis! We need to begin to decide what is ok for us. There is NOTHING WRONG with those bantu knots. If I could part my hair you that I would rock them also. (I'm still growing out a taper cut so I'm not there yet, but you know what I mean.) Good for you! I hope you slayed all weekend.
my only hair style is bantu knots... i used to not wear them out in public (when i first went natural) because it felt like my hair was in "rollers". but now my hair takes too long to dry so i wear them out in a style all the time! in quarantine i've been trying to do twists haha
Girl looser textures get away with just about everything, you look stunning with those bantu knots, the knot out is just as gorgeous
Right! Well I am going to change that one style at a time! x
I commend 4c ladies able to rock Bantu knots. I have loose texture. I can't for the life of me.
Type 4 hair looks just as nice as ANY OTHER HAIR and looks better and styles last longer as well
So we not gonna say anything about how uncomfortable sleeping with bantu knots is?
It's actually easy so long as you make sure the back styles in a way that allows you to comfortably lay flat on your back. And also, the longer your hair is, the knots tend to bend out towards the sides from your pillow.
Girl
SevenBelowZero I approve this message! Lol also I have mastered the art of propping your pillow in a way that helps. 🙌🏽
Yh its annoying i love bantu knots but siss hate sleepin wit them
I'm working on being free and comfy enough to wear my natural hair in certain styles in public. Bantu knots is one of them.
Yessss 🔥
Who else watched till the end🙋🏾♀️
I always do!
We wear our hair like this in Jamaica all the time. We call these chinney bumps
Taliana Riettien that’s what I’ve known them as growing up in Turks & Caicos. . .
We wear it also in East Africa

Jenn: It’s a struggle parting your hair wearing your glasses
Me: sis...doing anything wearing glasses IS a struggle in general😩
That's y I love contacts. Plus u get peripheral vision.
Abu• Chuma ugh glasses sucks sometimes 😩😩
@M M I did too many many years ago. You really have to try different brands. They are not made equal. 😃🤣
@M M , yes- especially if you have dry eyes.
@M M 😊

Here in Jamaica, people rock this hair style all the time, We call it Cheiney bump. Love the vedio ! New Sub... 😊

I pray to some day have your courage to wear my natural 4c hair in styles I never really thought I could or should. I discovered your channel about a week ago and you have been such an inspiration. You, your hair, and mostly your spirit is so beautiful.
Girl, I love bantu knots in tact. Such a beautiful FINISHED hair style on 4C hairs. Folks need to recognize!! Grrrrrrr!!!
Ok, your part game is REAL.👏👏👏 mine would have been going every way but straight 🤣
LOL Keep praticing girl! x
I feel you on that glasses struggle girl 😫 sometimes I'll wear my contacts just to do my hair 😩
Yes!!!!! I've got to learn how to bantu knot my hair, mine doesn't stay twisted. Yours was amazing!
Honestly, I love it! You could even jazz it up a bit more with putting hair jewelry into each knot. Or leaving two little tendrils out on the sides, or even dress it up with a cute little headband or leave out bangs. Sooo many versatile options with these! Super cute!
Oh those are amazing ideas!
Bantu knots are beautiful! Bantu knots are beautiful & tribal. You are beautiful with this hairstyle.
I agree!
I think your bantu knots are GORGEOUS !!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Yesssss
Bantu knots are beautiful 😍😍 I love them
Your bantu knots looks beautiful!
Jenn J love the realness girl you are simply gorgeous no matter what u do!!! #stay blessed sis
Thank you so much 🤗
I just finished Bantu knots on my twa crown.
Yeah, I know and that's not fair because our 4c hair looks fabulous in bantu knots😍💕
I think you look gorgeous in those Bantu Knots. I wish I looked this good. Type 4 hair holds this style very well.
I use to be obsessed with "slick" and "gel-ed down" hairstyles on my 4c hair and it made my natural hair seem high maintenance and hard to manage . Now I just let my hair do what it want to do and it's just so much easier.
Yessss and less stress on your strands too 🙏
And looking good period. Love me some Bantu know.
I have never had the courage to go out in public with Bantu knots-even with "slayed" edges. Your boyfriend and mother stated what I thought may be the perception, so I always end up taking them down and separating them. 😭😭 Your hair looks beautiful. 😊
Thank you for sharing! It’s funny because they both loved it and my mom even wants me to do the “knots” for her! 🙌🏽
You make every style look great! I have a love-hate relationship with Bantu knots. But when I worked with kids back in Miami, I would wear my hair in Bantu knots around them before taking the knots down to normalize the look.

You look beautiful Jenn! I completely agree with you!
❤️❤️
I always look forward to watching your videos because i love hearing you sing “Ey, ey ey it’s your gurrl”🥰❤️
I like your parting for the bantu knots. Will do this parting too.
You should really try the “Shea moisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Mask”
ITS LITERALLY THE BEST FOR 4C HAIR!!!!
I love the shea moisture manuka honey leave in milk is really good for type 4 hair
Yup....I use the mask and shampoo. My staples🙌🏾🙌🏾
Question: is shea moisture black owned?
@@runsprints4life767 great question...i hope so because if it's not im going to have to NOT SUPPORT IT because im sick of BLACK PEOPLE making WHITE people & ASIANS BILLIONS
Runsprints4life it’s was invented by black people but no longer owned by black people.
Beautiful and your hair is beautiful 😍 I'm transitioning back to natural and its 12 months of growth. I have been doing bantu knots all summer! I agree with you about 4c hairstyles.
This is such a beautiful look. I've always been nervous to do styles like this for some reason but this inspired me to go for it lol
Yesss so glad to hear that
YESSSS TO 100k baby doll 💕💕🥰🥰🥰 !! And I love Bantu knots 😍😍
Love the way you embrace you 4c hair.
Thanks sis
I’m seeing Bantu knots more and more. Work them. You look gorgeous
It's cute! 😍 Don't listen to Bae or Mama! 😩💜👍🏾
Thank you! and I sure didn't :)

I think that your bantu knots came out well. I think that are so suitable for 4c. I love them 💗
Thanks sis
My exact hair type!!! Stunning 😍
You look cute with the Bantu knots. I wish my face was not as round. I would wear that!
I did this style last week and I thought it was really cute. Mine was a lot chunkier (I had 7 knots total). Beautiful as always
Wow this hairstyle is perfect on you.
Thank you ❤️

Yesss! x
I appreciate the fact that you pronounce 'Bantu Knots' better than what most Americans say.
Really? lol x
Hi Jenn your hair and makeup looks great! 😍
I think your hair is gorgeous and make up is on point. I love the whoke look. I'm going to copy and do my hair the same but maybe parting it differently.
Yessss the possibilities are endless when it comes to parting 🔥
Love it Jenn!!!
This is so adorable!
Okayyyyyyyyyyyyy okayyyyyyyyyyyyy 100k I'm so here for you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Such a beautiful smile💕 I think I have 4a, 4b and 4c hair and wow it's much 🤣🤣🤣 but I love my curls, wouldn't have it any other way
Yess self love ❤️
I like this look too.
I just did my wash day routine with Bantu knots! We twinning ☺️
That's awesome!
Congrats on 100K subscribers!!! Happy for you!
Thank you so much 😀
When I first heard of Bantu knots I was like, what is this? Only now realizing it is what we call corkscrew where I’m from. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
This style has different names. Someone said “chiney bumps”
You look amazing! I love the knots!!! I 👌
Thank you so much!!
I’m super comfortable with my 4c hair. It’s other people that respond to it in a negative way. It really bothers other people 🤣
Seriously!
Sooo close to 100K. ‼️ I’m sooo proud of you 😊😊
THANK YOUUUU U
I liked the hairstyle. Lol do it more often. ❤️
Sooo true. Especially if we don't have makeup on...people will look at us funny
Right! I rocked that style with confidence, with and without makeup. By the end of the week, my mom wanted me to do it on her 😂😂
Love that hairstyle.
Thank you
100K! Congratulations! 🎉🍾💥
Thank you!! 😋😋
Hey Jenn!! So pretty per usual. I think adding a few hair accessories would be a nice extra touch to the first Bantu Knot look. 💛💛
I disagree with them, your Bantu Knots look great! I have a looser 3C/4A/4B situation that makes mine look more like Bantu NOTS 😂
Mine don’t even want to stay in for 5 minutes and when I sleep on them the next day they look out of sorts and flat.
I’m a new sub to your channel and I love how you always look awesome. That sunset eyeshadow looks great on you!
Thanks for subbing! xx
You are beautiful! Keep doing you. 🌺
Thank you so much!
I think it's cute. Before my hair thinned so much in the top of my head. I wore them a lot.
Oh Wow! those bantu knots look sooo good! Thank you! I'm so gonna try those! Just need to work on perfecting my twist and flat twist!😅🤗
Question: Whats your secret to the perfect flat twist? I tried to do mine last night and ended up doing cornrows cause like those twist won't stay in place!
🥰❤❤ well done! I love bantu knot outs! Your hair is amazing ❤
It's cute tho....... I think I want to try bantu knots after my mini twists...
The shots at the end 👌🏾perfection, love both looks!
Please let the thing go. Your hairstyle looks good periodt pooh! You can add gel or whatever, but we're past the fact that you're 4c. This style doesn't ONLY look good on a looser curl pattern. Sameeee
I love both styles on 4c hair😍😍😍Another great video Jenn♥️
Thanks so much 😊
I mastered my Bantu Knots during the quarantine 👍🏽But only on stretched hair. 😉
I loveeee Bantu knotssss
Sis! We need to begin to decide what is ok for us. There is NOTHING WRONG with those bantu knots. If I could part my hair you that I would rock them also. (I'm still growing out a taper cut so I'm not there yet, but you know what I mean.) Good for you! I hope you slayed all weekend.
It is cute and I also have the same hair texture. I always do it
Love it!! x
I love your beautiful hairstyle, Jenn, It very pretty ❤️👍🏿✊🏿
Very cute!
my only hair style is bantu knots... i used to not wear them out in public (when i first went natural) because it felt like my hair was in "rollers". but now my hair takes too long to dry so i wear them out in a style all the time! in quarantine i've been trying to do twists haha
Love this hairstyle
Wish I could double like for both styles 😊
