It might be best to build a shed above ground for the chickens & turkeys, another for goats, another for cows, etc. They can have a track to run in & not sit in the water.

I'll never forget when Harvey hit Houston and Harris County, we had over 50 inches on the east side. Houses were totally under water that had never flooded before. 😢😢
My home flooded me and my dog and cat were evacuated by boat. I’m soooo glad I didn’t have my chickens back then…that would have been crazy. The cat couldn’t get to her litterbox and peed in my bed! I couldn’t be mad even tho it was gross.

If you have old planks of wood and center blocks, you could put together upper levels for all the birds to stay out of the water. This would be a good time, like a day before we get more rain to move them to higher ground. The cold wind and rain can be stress to the animals. It would be nice if you had an emergency area for most of the animals and then section them off from one another if that creates tension. I'm glad that you all were covered by our heavenly Father.
Delighted that you all are okay. That was definately some torrential rains. The poor animals with their feet in the water. I thought for sure you were going to have more losses. I am so glad I was wrong. The Lord was watching out for y'all.

Several of your other Abundance Plus associates also showed the storm effects on their homesteads but none had the challenges you did. Yours and Selah's positive attitude and quick actions helped save the animals plus provided an excellent example of how to survive a homesteading lifestyle when life happens. Dad dug ditch to our main ditch through our yard after years of flooding. It has helped out a lot. Our house is higher than the neighbors: lots of dirt dug out from our side yard.
So glad you all made it through the storm. We have about 30 acres under water and the wind gusts the other night were up to 70mph. Really scary. The power went out for about 4 hours. I kept shining the flashlight out to make sure the hoop coops I put up this fall were still there. They were, but the chickens are not impressed with their waterfront property. We have another storm coming. Stay safe everyone.
Sayla is a beautiful helpful daughter. She's always very willing to help and always takes the initiative to get things done. Mike your a very lucky dad to have such good help. She will be a self-reliant young woman that will know how to do a lot of different things. Your a good parent and you and your wife are wonderful God fearing parents.
I am glad you and your daughter were respectful of that water, it's so deceptively fast and deep! We have gotten lots of flooding in VT the past few years, this year in particular, and there's always some folks who get stuck in their cars or try to canoe out of their homes and get in trouble. Is the knowledge of where the flooding happens changing your new yurt plans...or is it having you debating some dirt work? It is really a good opportunity to flood proof and berm.... to benefit your crops.
We were supposed to get that nasty weather in Houston but we were spared this time. We were up all night watching because we have friends/family scattered between here and there. Here in Connecticut we had 5" of snow Sunday then we also had a heavy rain and high wind storm last night and the temperature rose to the 50's with 8" of rain. With the melted snow and that much rain it was like a pond in my front yard and streams formed that were never there before either. Glad that's over and God protected us and your family as well.
My daughter lives the rain and she always get excited we had rain and wind two days ago then that evening we had hail she was like lets go out. Thats alot rain hope all will be fine

Natural disasters increasing...storms, earthquakes, volcanos, uncontrollable fires, economic chaos, cultural upheaval, HUGE RISE IN ANTI-SEMITISM, wars EVERYWHERE!! DROUGHTS, not just in Cali now, but across the Mid-West, crop failures of coffee, cocoa, wheat, corn....ALL in the SAME YEAR!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! We got this storm too. I am in Maine and we got about 6 inches from this storm and very high winds lost power for 5 days. It got down to the single digits at night. Massive flooding for many towns. We came through pretty good over all. Glad to see you all are doing well

Now they just announced that she’s pregnant again and she’s going for number 11 so I keep checking back to your channel because “you never know what’s in Gods plan.❤

Oh, the days of living on a well and having to be water ready in case the power went out. And FOR SURE making sure we filled our bathtubs plum full so we had water to flush our toilets! Well, that's ONE decent thing about living closer to town!

I'm over in the southeast corner of Lincoln County, NC. Not too far from you. The creek that runs on the other side of the field next to us (maybe 60 yards away) overflowed it's banks and flooded the field and nearly drown my chickens. We had to let them out of their fence to higher ground in my yard. Thankfully the water didn't get up to the house but we still had a small river running through our yard from the runoff coming down the hill behind us. We had 4 inches of rain come down in roughly 14 hours. It was crazy!!
