Oh, Helen, thank you with all of my heart for this video. I broke my ankle last week and am on crutches. Living alone makes it extra difficult, but it also has the bright side of self-endulging with a CoffeeMonsterzCo Marathon Watch Party!
Your love of sardines brought back a funny memory from a 1984 10-year wedding-anniversary trip to Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. I had read John Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row” book and wanted to have a picnic on Carmel Beach, featuring the foods of Monterey County-i.e., Monterey Jack cheese, crackers, and, yes, sardines.
So we went to a cutie-patootie grocery/gift store and loaded up on the above, plus fruit and wine.
OMG, I was so naive and was shocked to see whole little fishies when I peeled open the can of sardines. My husband’s face: 😳 That probably was my face, too, lol, or this: 😱
We already had our wine poured and cheese & crackers on paper plates, so I said something like, “Bombs away” and popped one of the tiny things into my mouth and, luckily didn’t gag, but, oh dear, it was awful yet funny enough that we both were laugh-crying over my misguided idea of a romantic picnic.

My family celebrates Christmas on the 24th so today is just a relaxing day for me! Thank you for uploading! I’ve been debating on buying an ereader because I much prefer the sensation of actually having a book in my hands and plus my eyes are terrible as it is so 🤣 but keep us updated on it! I still have yet to read that memoir because I really struggled to keep up with my reading but hope to get back on track next year! Anyways, love you and sending you a warm hug. Thank YOU for sharing even this time with us. Happy happy and Merry Christmas - loads of quiet time with your family and enough time to read and rest. It was sooo good for me to spend that 25minutes "with you" - it gave me a very "happy breathing/ relaxing time". My Christmas (Poland) began on 24th Dec and happily, despite my worries and unhappy thoughts, everything went smoothly and I finally feel (after struggling for few months) connection with my daughter. Your video added to that Christmas-y peaceful feeling. Loads of love from Poland :)

Happy Christmas, Helen! I'm so excited for this video. This is my first christmas tcmc video. I'm going to have to seek out last year's! OK I was nearly having a panic attack with those ink vials. A great stabilizing trick is I put one napkin down, and then on top of it a tape dispenser and flip the tape dispenser over so that the "ugly" side is facing up. This is a perfect way to keep your vials upright and so you dont have to worry about them tipping over. I'll send over a photo via email so you can see what I mean. Those sample vials are always so fumbly! Thanks for this cheerful video! And an ereader is life changing. I love actual books too but for portability's sake they are wonderful.

I am with you; I "loved" my books. But as I got older my Kindle had perks that you just can't get in a book. I always have my thin portable size Kindle with me; with many books on it - I never run out of something to read. The biggest plus is that I can change the font size as my eye sight ages with me. Enjoy your E-Reader.

Oh my gosh, I also just got a Kobo Libra 2 as my first e-reader! Super excited to be using it, especially since I'm going to be moving in the next few weeks, so carrying around dozens of books is not going to be an option. I'm more of a physical book person, but honestly, this works so well, I really love it!
The biscotti looked really good. Maybe not the most easthetically beautiful ones ever, but in my eyes they looked yummy and they probably were delicious too.
Those glass pens are also so stunning. I love watching pen swatches, they are very calming, even when they get chaotic and messy :P

I can't speak to the Kobo in particular because I've not used it. I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite. I am a HUGE fan of paper books. But an ereader can be a great tool. It's easy to read on the go. (Especially outside in summer when the sun goes down!) And it's great to be able to carry one small device instead of a heavy pile of books. I hope it works out for you. it doesn't have to be either/or. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I find it a bit harder to concentrate with the ereader, so I use it most often for comfort re-reads. But everyone is different. You just have to try different things and eventually you will learn what works for you. And if it ends up not working for you at all, that's fine too.
Merry Christmas to you, Helen, and your community. Initially, I fought getting an ereader, but now that I have one, I love it. I buy some books I like to reread every few years, such as Pride and Prejudice and Rebecca. I subscribe to Book Bub and buy cheap Kindle books that really interest me. I love being able to highlight things. I can read it at night while my husband is driving! I want to be buried with it so I will always have something to read!

As a lifelong lover of cookies, pastries, etc. I appreciate your baking skills, but I had forgo all that when I developed diabetes. I was able to reverse this condition in three months by giving up sugar and carbs and doing mild daily exercise.

I also got a hibino this year and I ended up converting it to a 6-year diary with a similar layout as the hobonichi 5-year! I wanted a diary for my PhD and wanted to have space for an extra year (just in case haha). Super easy to re-date and I'm using the monthly section to record favorites and my progress for each year!
