There are doctors and medical professionals that get frustrated with people self diagnosing on the internet and i've seen my child's pediatrician get really upset when I scrutinized his diagnosis(son had a bullseye rash and this dolt thought i we were needlessly concerned with lyme, said he didn't have it because the blood work came back negative, and we're telling him that the specialist my wife sees says that test is bs because the bullseye is definitive proof.)
Then there are people like you giving lessons and informing folks for free on youtube. I'm inspired to start my own channel when I see professional quality videos like this and your others.
    Thank you

Thank you very much! I'm glad our videos were able to help. Unfortunately, there can be a lot of variability with the quality of medical care available out there.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but I hope you've since found a better medical care provider who is more willing to listen to your concerns.
I hope you DO start your own channel! I'm sure it will be great! Good luck, and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Doc, thank you very much for your videos. It help me clarify some points. I've been suffering of all the symptoms you mentioned in your other video (fatigue, lethargy, sleep and concentration problems, depression, just to name a few) and that since many years. I'm now 37, and i feel like i wasted half of my life. So i did a blood test and my test level came out very low; 229 and 5,8. Talked about this to many doc and no ones wanna help. They says everything is fine since im in the testing lab's "range" (70-468) which i think is ridiculous. They don't know fuckall about TRT so they don't even want to hear about it. They are tossing this option no matter what i say and prefer to put me on antidepressant. Im on effexor, welbutrin and tropozol right now. Been on celexa as well. Doenst help much. I'm now concidering going on self prescribed TRT. Whats your thought on my test level? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks

@Wu Killabee: Thank you very much for the feedback! Reference ranges and units of measure are highly variable, so I am not able to really make a determination on your levels. I always caution against self-management, but I definitely understand your frustration. Keep searching! Hopefully you can find a good and safe alternative to what you have been faced with thus far.

I'm 26 and have all of these symptoms. The sleep pattern ones describe me very well

@Kevin R. Serrano: It's worth having your levels checked by an experienced provider. At 26, you need to pay close attention to the effects of TRT on fertility, but it may be an option for you.

I have an appointment with an endocrinologist next week, my total is 454 and free is in the mid 8s. At 43 years old this number isn't terribly bad, but I suffer from these side effects (and a few others) terribly. Any advice on what to expect? I'm generally a pretty anxious person and any reply would be appreciated.

    • @TCTmed

@Michael Olin: Let me preface what I am about to say with the admission that I have become a pessimist as it relates to how I assume other providers will approach TRT patients. Certainly endocrinologists are far more educated and trained in hormonal care than I, but that doesn't always mean that all endocrine diseases are treated the same by every endocrinologist. The Endocrine Society guidelines do state that a total serum testosterone that is near the lower end of the normal reference range, on a symptomatic patient, should be weighed against a free testosterone level. This should be done by either equilibrium dialysis or algorithmicallly calculated. I prefer the calculated free testosterone level. Incidentally, the analog (direct) free testosterone blood test should never be used.
SO, all that to say this...
My experience with this suggests that your free testosterone levels may be ignored and a decision to not treat will be based on you normal, total serum testosterone readings, if repeat analysis proves to show a similar result.

@@garysimone4977: Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon response. Keep searching out a provider who is familiar with TRT. Ultimately, you wouldn't want your care managed by someone who doesn't understand testosterone deficiency anyway.

@Gary Simone: I would definitely recommend giving it more time. I counsel my patients to be ready for a 90 day period of "dialing in". When taking over a broken system, and acknowledging that every body has it's own unique needs, getting back to good takes time.

Miroslav Svraka: Not every patient will experience every symptom. However, if fatigue is your only symptom, you may want to take time to contemplate other possible reasons for your fatigue.

I have all of these symptoms and more. yet my endocrinologist refuses to give me TRT. my levels were 90. going to a new endocrinologist. I'm also only 21 and this all started randomly 7 months ago when one night I couldn't sleep at all, ever since my life has plummeted immensely

Your sleep is like shit right? Like if you hadn't slept at all. And you feel really tired all the time. The sex drive dissapears, and it is hard for you to do any fucking thing. Is horrible
