  • Not getting a 12V signal at the back of your headlights when connecting auxiliary lights to your high beam, then you'll need to connect via the CAN system on your vehicle. Don't worry, we've the answer. New for 2020/21, we've upgrade our pre-prepared 12V wiring kits alongside a Lazer specific CAN Interface with both high beam and side/position light outputs. Lazer Lamps MD, Ben Russell-Smith, talks through the features of each and the basics of their use and installation.

    This is spot on! Thanks for the tips and thanks for demoing on the New Defender (which is what I am installing my lights on)!

    Where are the position lights? Like where does the green wire actually go into? Is there a photo?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  4 місяці тому

      Our vehicle side wiring harnesses for lamps with position light have green and purple trigger wires which correspond to the green and purple wires from the CAN interface. The position lights themselves are optional features in our range of auxiliary high beam lights rather than standalone units.

      @@Lazerlamps I have a 2024 Defender 130. The only purple wire with orange is larger than the one you show. It's also slightly larger than the other wires around it. Do you know if they changed color for the high beam wire. Right now I have the elite 18 installed but as soon as I connect the purple wire from the harness to the purple and orange wire to the light bar, I get power but I can not control the light bar on and off. The light is powered whether or not the high beam is on. I'm thinking the color of the wire changed for the high beam, but I can't seem to figure out which one it is.

    Do you HAVE to connect the green wire to the lights? Or can you just leave it off

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  4 місяці тому

      The position light function is completley optional, so yes you can leave the green wire off. Elite lights do not have a PL function so would not need this anyway

    Is there a wireless switch I could use to activate the utility lights provided they are connected to the battery?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  2 роки тому

      Hi, not that we make, but you could use a remote garage door relay to operate the lamp remotely. Just make sure it will work on 12/24v

    At the video you say that in new Defender you do not need Can Interface at all. But how about 2017 Discovery 5 with led lights? And if not what colour wire is the high beam wire?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  3 роки тому +1

      Mika, you can take a 12v feed from the back of the headlamps on the Discovery5. Please drop an email to aaron@lazerlamps.com and he will be able to advise re wire colour.

    Splicing in to the loom will void the manufacturer’s warranty for the loom and associated products connected to it!?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  4 роки тому +1

      It depends on the manufacturer. We do have a contactless reader that will avoid having a make a metal-to-metal connection, if you are particularly worried about the warranty.

    While the 2020/2021 Defender doesn't require the CAN interface to work, would you recommend that I use the CANM8 Duo interface with the optional wireless connection for a non-spliced solution (and also one that will let me use the Speed Adapt Mode)?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  4 роки тому

      Hi Matthew. If using the Triple-R Smartview and wanting to activate the Speed Adapt functionality, you will need the CanM8 Duo Interface. The Contactless Reader means you don't have to splice into the CAN-Hi and CAN-Lo which many people find preferable.

    Hi I have a Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 2024 without the led headlights will your standard wiring loom be ok to use , splicing into the 12vmaim beam feed thanks

      @Lazerlamps  11 місяців тому

      Yes, any of our wiring harnesses will be ok to use on your Sprinter and are ok to be spliced into the main beam feed. We have done this plenty of times with no issues. If you require any more information before committing to a kit, feel free to get in touch to sales@lazerlamps.com

    I'm looking to fit these to my 2023 VW Transporter T6.1 I have checked and do not have 12V signal for HB so will need a Can bus module, do you know where this needs to be fitted? Thanks

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  Рік тому

      Hi, On the T6.1 the CAN interface goes behind the heater control unit. Would recommend also using a contactless reader to simplify the installation as it can be a bit fiddly.

    Would like to install the Linear 36 to my defender 2022 with original roof rack. What do I need of connections when I have the matrix lights? Would like it to work together with the high beam. thanks

      Hi Ole. Detailed instructions are available via the CanM8 app, access to which is available via the unique access code on any Lazer or CanM8 CAN interface.

    Hi! I have bought a Linear 18 elite LBA, it should arrive in a few days. I have also purchased the can interface, do you recommend to use it or to splice the wires? Also are there any advantages if I choose to use the can interface or it works identically?
    Thanks!

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, It will depend on the vehicle you are installing onto. If the vehicle has a 12v high beam trigger, you will not require the canbus interface. If you do not have a 12v high beam trigger wire, you will need the canbus interface to simulate the trigger for you. What vehicle are you installing the i-LBA onto?

    Looking to put a set of your lights onto my 16 plate disco 4, would I need this to operate the lights on full beam only?

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  3 роки тому +1

      Not on a Disco4. There will be a 12v feed at the back of the headlamps to splice directly into 👍

    Can you not just make a break in loom, to avoid having to cut the wires? I can see issues with warranty if I do this. Powerful UK have made looms for the rear lights, that would be almost a plug n play solution

    • @Lazerlamps
      @Lazerlamps  3 роки тому

      Hi Paul. The splice/crimp solution we're proposing shouldn't void your warranty (albeit depending what dealer you speak to as to whether they adhere to this or not). The piggyback loom you're talking about is possible, but an expensive solution that in the end we didn't prioritise for development.
