- Best tomatoes in my opinion. Tomatoes are my most important crop in the summer. I dedicate a lot of hoop house space to them. I cover cherry tomatoes, heirlooms and beefsteaks and what are my favorites.

As a long time gardener and a second year farm market farmer I have been learning the hard way. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Following an expert who is willing to tell his story is the encouragement I need to keep on growing.
You should do a short video about grafting tomatoes.
yea I'm wondering how grafting increases your production since it seems like a complicated step and you seem to be training single vines....what makes a suitable root to graft to? do you keep a single mother? so many questions.
Yes
YES!!
I vote for long detailed
Yes!
I'm a big fan of successful tomato operations, you must have a really sturdy one because so many try to determinate climb than dangle, as yours seem to. That's good,,I wish tomatos were awarded better feed in the supermarket, those Hydro ones are terrible. They only get as good as semi large Campari Brand at Costco, they almost a complete ripe. Nothing beats a full ripe tomato! We had a bumper crop of Lemon Boy in the early '90 s and another year of Beefsteak/Caspian Pink. That was when we lived on The Red River, a fresh off the water helps! Of course we lost are garden to flooding a few times, but we ended up moving because of flooding anyway. It hasn't been as easy in a neighborhood grid layout, mainly because of Interstate sty and toxic water issues, fracking and air quality. In a small population. Keep up the good work!
I've been growing tomatoes for decades....over 100 varieties and more to go...(this year's favorite...2021...Steak Sandwich...crazy production!)...
That said... I've never heard of splicing tomato plants in a commercial setting...
TY Neversink! This video is so great!
Interesting content, thanks. I hope to see an instructional video from you showing the grafting process at some stage, please.
Thanks for the great videos. I admire what you have built.
Thank you Connor for this informative video. Wonderful you tube channel!
What rootstock plants do you choose for your grafting?
Maxifort is the most commonly used root stock. Seed is readily available from a variety of sources.
Very informative, thank you! How do you feel about the flavor of a hydroponic tomato vs a tomato grow in a garden bed? Looking for that perfect flavorful tomato!
Awesome video. Have you ever tried the Siberian Tomato? They grow it up in Alaska it is very cold hardy and should produce year round in a Green House. It produces fruit in the 38 degree and up temperature range.
I have not
Farmer Smurf compost piles can help warm greenhouses for free.
How's Marnouar tomato vs Marnero?
What is the size of ur nursery green house??
Can you please explain where a good place to buy the trays and containers needed for going to market and sales. Thank you so much for information.
also trays needed for flats and seeds
Johnny’s seed co has some farming supplies if you can wade past all the cool variety of seeds
Nolts produce supply in PA
Neversink Farm ...they have a location In iowa as well. Great supplier.
So funny that his face popped up at the end! Lol
Thanks but what is the name of the variety that you spoke of saying it has both hybrid and heirloom features
Wealth of information u very generous.
I hear REINHARD KRAFT PURE SUGAR is a good black cherry. All i know is I planted it &its huge. My biggest of 20 varieties. One reviewer said its better taste then all other blacks.
Really enjoyed your videos! What should be the space between cherry tomato plants in the greenhouse if planting in 24 inch rows? Thanks.
Very informative video, could you talk about your germination chamber?
Awesome stuff man! Thank you
Have you ever considered grafting tomotoes onto potato root stock? They are related. I'm not sure of the logistics, but ideally, you could be growing potatoes below ground, and tomatoes above.
I saw a video on this fairly recently. It works, but with reduced yield on both tomato and potatoes
Good information for producers
Have you ever tried the Paul Robeson Russian variety tomato? The flavour is marvelous.
The Robeson tomatoes you grow...... are they grown in greenhouse? Just staryed a few plants......
Really nice touch having your farm’s name burnt onto the wood of the display boxes. Projects halcyon by-gone days of old.
New subscriber. Grafting and then transplanting is great. Cuts down on the time a plant is in your Greenhouse which allows multiple crops a year.
Question: What supplements do you give to your plants in the Greenhouse? Rock Dust, kelp etc are popular.
I am interested in soil biology especially in a Greenhouse because in the field soil biology shuts down at 53 degrees F. You also should have amazing numbers of earthworms in your Greenhouse because they can reproduce 12 months a year.
G00D Morning from Auckland, New Zealand it’s Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
Thabks Conner. That was VERY helpful
You're welcome
What kind of tables are those?
Love the videos keep up the good work
Great Video! Thank you for the info
What is the root stock you use when grafting tomatoes ?
It depends on when I am planting them
Hello Coner, I recently found your channel and I have just subscribed :)) Your farm is beautiful ! In viewing some of your past videos, I couldn't help but notice that your soil looks wonderful and very suitable for growing garlic, do you grow garlic ? Also an off subject question, I noticed that your farm is close to a river or stream my question is have you ever found any Indian artifacts on your land ? Please keep up your great work and you are indeed living the American dream my friend :))
Forgive me if I missed it, but how do you manage the light requirements of the three French slicers? According to the light calculator, I couldn't grow those naturally until the end of June and by then we are growing heat-set determinates. Ben Hartman grows those Marbonne/Margold varieties, too, and I've never seen an explanation regarding what I assume would be the addition of artificial lights.
I do not use artificial light
The three French slices was that what he said it has both heirloom and hybrid features
What is the reason/advantage for growing the tomatoes under an angle in the greenhouse? It looks like a woven wall of plants at 02:05?
They are on strings as the harvest they slowly lower them to keep harvesting guessing by end of season single vine is maybe 15-20 feet "tall"- or long Conor can correct me if I'm wrong from what i've seen
I really like the look of your wooden tomato boxes. Thanks for the videos.
How do I go about obtaining good root stock?
Beat to grow your own
Do you always use the same variety for root stock? And if so, what is your preferred variety? Thanks for the great videos!!
Devon Phelon maxifort is a good one
How do you support the plants in the greenhouse?
2:04 looks like twine suspended from a crossbar. common greenhouse technique
Great chit chat on your varieties. May I ask what variety you use as a root stock? Have a great weekend:)
Depends on how long I expect the tomatoes to be productive
The PURPLE has a cult following but yea three to five varieties just makes sense and Brandywine red and yellow are good sellers at $2.35 a pound .
where did the girl get the bucket that hangs off her back while she picks?
You probably already found it. It is called a belly bucket and I got mine from Hoss. They are awesome!
Can he greenhouse tomatoes be grown in a regular garden ?
Yes
my man, you believe in pruning fruit clusters to obtain greater size. say you had 20 clusters of 6 would you prune some off to get bigger size on the remaining. I am growing salad tomatoes and paste tomatoes, mainly I had a hard time getting size on my paste tomatoes and I thought this may have been a limiting factor. plants had 50 green fruits each.
I do not due to the extra work, but I have heard good things
Money maker!
omg 2:30 is hot
productive and profitable YES but no taste to them when you grow them in greenhouse, They all taste like cardboard
