    This is a tutorial on how to make the awesome lead synth from Zomboy - Nuclear. It's almost exactly the same sound, and the method shown here may very well be the method Zomboy himself used :3
    No presets guys. If you can't follow the tutorial (it's very simple), then you need to see a doctor :P
    Enjoy :D

    I forgot to show it, but I did cut the lows in order to add my own sub bass. And I know there's a different patch for the harmony, but I'm lazy :P

    Out of all the remakes of all the songs in history, this one, sounds the closest to the song your trying to recreate 0.0 good job pro, subbed.

    I'll be honest with you, at first I did 'acquire' my production tools. The only hardware I had was an M-Audio USB audio interface and some Sony earbuds to work with, but as I'm getting into music more seriously (and as I'm getting more money), I'm slowly 'legalizing' my collection of stuff, purchasing licences for the VSTs I have, etc.
    I don't like to pirate, but I just couldn't afford it. I will eventually buy everything I use though, mark that :D

    If your using Logic Pro, Edit the pitch bend by going into your Note Editor, clicking "view", "MIDI Draw", then "Pitch Bend". You then draw in pitch bend by using "Cmd+Click".

    I don't have a separate harmony patch, as I just played the harmony in the same instance of massive, but in Zomboy's track I believe it's just a square and saw wave together. Well, that's what it sounds like at least :P

    Completely true. The average human ear cannot completely hear pure sine frequencies. Often in tracks, if they use pure sine, you can feel the bass through monitors or headphones, but cannot hear the key it is played in. Dodge and Fuski, Kill Paris, and many other artists use the same technique that you do in order for the bass to be richer and more audible.

  • @OfficialAxtrax

    dude this tut is quick and great!! and you should make a tut on that on one sound before the lead.

  • @jAyMaC128
    @jAyMaC128  11 років тому

    You mean the tremolo sounding lead-ish thing? I believe it's just an LFO on the volume of the lead sound. Also, turning up the amp of the second oscillator leads (heh) to a dirtier sound. I mapped this, and an LFO to macro knobs in Massive and automated them to get that effect, but I didn't show it in the tutorial. Sorry, I was trippin' thinking I'd gone over the 10 minute limit of UA-cam vids XD

    HopDubstep Just go to arrangement view and then any effects like modulation that you have activated will show on a dropdown menu under Massive to the right of the screen. When you click on the right modulation you will see a line appear and just move that line how you want to auto-modulate.

    awesome tutorial man, very helpful, I almost had this sound down before having to look it up. I was just making a simple mistake on my end ha. cheers. a bit of added info. might help one or two people, if you have a midi keyboard that's got the mod wheel or 'modulation' wheel to use that to activate the vibrato effect simply right click on the macro control you are using, so the one labeled 'vibrato' and click on midi learn. that will enable you to use your mod wheel to get the vibrato effect. to turn it off do the same again but instead of midi learn click remove midi CC. cheers again man :)

    Terrific tutorial! I've noticed that a handful of the sounds from tutorials don't seem to work on my computer. I don't know if I have a problem with my soundcard or I missed a step. That is where a preset would be helpful, because then I could eliminate whether it is an issue with my soundcard or I missed a step, although I think this was a surprisingly simple tutorial, so I don't think I missed a step.
