    Watch his "How to Bass" tutorial series, he's an FM bass expert ;)
    __________________________________
    Here's another tutorial as promised. This time, filthy growl bass :D
    I teach how to make the bass drop from Zomboy - Nuclear, using Massive, Sytrus (or FM8), and EQ automation.
    I was a bit hesitant to release this Massive patch out here on the internet, as even though it's relatively simple, it is close to my heart XD
    If you use this Massive patch in any of your songs, be sure to credit me please; that's all I ask :)
    Thanks for watching :)

    Give a man a bass drop and he will drop the bass for a day
    Teach a man to drop the bass and he will drop the bass for a lifetime!
    Keep up the great work!

    Man, you are a god among men.
    I normally hate watching Tutorials because they're hard to follow but you mapped out exactly what you did with percentages and everything so I didn't have to guess what you were setting knobs at plus you did it in a way so as not dumb it down too much.
    Excellent work.

    Yeah, it's a 'custom' patch I made, influenced heavily by Seamless' patches he shows in his tutorials. You can either copy down what I did in Sytrus in this vid, or check out Seamless (I recommend Seamless) XD. He makes some good stuff!
    I might do an FM8 bass tutorial when I get the time :P

    Although the subtle nuances between DAWs sometimes make things hard, a close approximation of this can be made in any DAW.
    FM8 is a good substitute for Sytrus, and any parametric EQ will do in place of P.EQ 2.
    In Ableton (the DAW I use now), I use EQ 8 and FM8 for a lot of things :)

    Google automation in Ableton Live. Live's uses a unified automation system, that is, it is the same for every plugin and VST. I find it much more efficient and easier to map all the parameters I want to automate to a macro knob and automate that.
    All this information is available on the Ableton support website and lying around on Google :)

  • @jAyMaC128
    @jAyMaC128  10 років тому

    Sytrus can be substituted with any FM synth that utilizes a matrix to modulate operators. I don't know much about logic, but I know it supports VSTs, so the Mac version of FM8 would work. You can also use any EQ that has automatable parametric capabilities, i.e. can change the frequency of bands using automation. I am of the belief that Logic's default channel EQ can do this.

  • @mareksl
    @mareksl 10 років тому

    Great tutorial! Just one thing I discovered when recreating it: If you press your shift key while assigning the macro (or LFO, Env. etc.), you can assign it to more than one parameter, so you don't have to go back everytime and drag it again. ;)

    Haha... I like to read as much as I can instead of sifting through stuff... I learn more that way :D
    Yes, it's an audio effect rack. I start with placing plugins directly onto the effect strip, and grouping plugins into them automatically by selecting all the plugins I want to group in the effect strip (using Shift + click), and pressing CTRL + G or CMD + G

    Trying to automate the macro controller, not exactly sure how to do it, I know if you right click it for the other plugins it comes with the option to create an automation clip, but I Dont see that on massive... :c

    • @jAyMaC128

      The easiest way to do this is to use the 'Multilink to controller' function in FL Studio. The FL Studio Manual goes into detail on how to do this, just press F1 while in FL and search for Multilink to Controller.

    Sam, he using FL Studio, but in other videos he uses Ableton. I recommend FL Studio, but Ableton is ok to, I think FL gives more space for creativity, just an opinion. Also Fl Studio is currently version 11 (FL 11), but FL 12 looks epic!
