I've heard of people who'll get pregnant/get their partners pregnant as like a control thing to keep them around. A perfect example of this is Onision; he was once obsessed with getting all his victims pregnant just to keep them wrapped around his finger with their children when he barely takes any responsibility of being a father. To them, children aren't humans, they're handcuffs and pons to keep their victims "grounded" and when their victims want to leave, they'll hold the children over their heads, saying things like "Oh, you can't raise our kids on your own," "think of our kids!" Blah blah blah...

@@consueros not only that but you have to remember how old they were when they got married. Danielle quite literally never got to be an adult and find who she is without Garrick. Her entire identity her whole adult life has been Garrick's wife and the mother of Garrick's children.
They got married very very young. She went from being a child in her parents' home following their rules and living the way that they deemed best directly to being a married woman living with her husband following his rules and living the way that he deemed best. She doesn't know who she is without him she never got a chance to form a full identity as a woman and as a human being on her own. She stays with him because she doesnt know life without him, she doesn't know who she is without him and leaving someone who tells you that everything going on in your lives is God's plan feels like going against God Himself bc the life you've known has been presented to you as the plan from God to whom you've been devoted your entire life. To ask for more out of life, to her, probably seems like she's ungrateful for what God has given her or that she is defying God or that she is not worthy bc she "questions God's plan". Everything that she has grown into as an adult has been shaped by Garrick, and who she is only exists in relation to him. Plus to her they have two children together already and to be the one to begin questioning the relationship or for her to leave him puts her in a position in her mind where she's simultaneously uprooting her kids lives, defying God's will, and losing the only sense of self she's ever had and that's too scary to face for her. She'd rather be internally unhappy and ashamed than face all of that other scary stuff.

It's so incredibly frustrating that NOBODY has enough of a backbone to say that this situation is not okay. It's always "I don't know....".
Seriously. It's so frustrating. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the entire family got on their knees and started praising Lord Garrick because GAWD said so. They let him do whatever tf he wants and nobody stands up for themselves or Danielle beyond "oh uh... idk... what happens if -insert xyz scenario?-" Like people the time for presenting hypotheticals and asking questions is over. Someone needs to grow a pair of balls and tell Danielle that she is being a doormat and smiling while it happens. If they were her real friends they would tell her the truth instead of watching her suffer.
As someone who has a family that is very unconfrontational (although if this was happening to me I'm certain my parents would speak their minds) it's really tough to get everyone to share an opinion when it was never encouraged. That's why Danielle can't say what is really eating her up inside. Fear and anxiety from having bad communication her whole life has really handicapped her to the point of silence. Garrick just feeds off that vulnerability and gaslights her at every turn. So, so sad. I hope she does leave him, but it's not easy in a narcissistic relationship.

It's not super young in terms of having babies. That's about 7-12 years left to have children. Half of women are already completely unable to conceive by the time they are 45. Most women in natural fertility populations have their last child at around 42 years old.

This is a key comment. Plural relationships can work, and can be loving and supportive. Without clear and honest communication though, people can get hurt. He is not emotionally mature enough to handle it, and she is not getting her needs met. Roberta seems to be the most intuitive person in the dynamic, but the language barrier is an obstacle. They are not ready for all of this. They are not getting their needs met.
