To remove the sticker, you need to secure the cartridge to the table somehow, then consistently apply heat on the sticker with one hand while you use tweezers to pull it off with the other. I've used this technique before and it won't work if the heat isn't constantly blowing.

Hey kids welcome to the first day of grade 1! So today we are going to learn about punctuation. Some examples are the Comma, the period, the exclamation point, and the question mark. The use of periods is important to stop run on sentences and break them into smaller manageable sentences! Why don't you give it a try? Let's see... South Pokey! In the back, why dont you read to us what you have worked on?
Awesome! I came across a random GBC board the other day in a box of my things. The board itself had been damaged the top left corner got bent and broke a couple traces and the battery was missing. My curiosity got the best of me so I worked on it. I got it up and running and it was pokemon silver! It was my original silver I got when it came out. I think I took it apart like 10 years ago because the battery died but I never got around to replacing it. I lost the shell for the cart though. However I have a couple 3d printers so I printed one up in silver and it looks great. I just need a sticker for the front.
@@greendayyylmao3427 you put the tape on the label/sticker. Painters tape would come off without peeling off the sticker. Pinstripe tape would just give it a sharper look. Id love for him to try it should work a treat.
If it helps, the nail hardener is generally called a nail LED lamp, it dries/hardens gel nail polish. (Normal nail polish dries on its own, but gel nail polish doesn't without the lamp.)
As long as I know the sun affects the combination of ABS, an anti-fire additive and some colors. That reaction “transforms” the color structure and turns it to yellow. Peroxide just “removes” the byproduct of that reaction, the yellowing. On unaffected areas, eg areas covered by stickers, peroxide makes nearly no change and no bleaching. That slightly darker rectangle is the same color of the inside, that means it has been protected by a sticker while the cart was exposed to sun.
One thing that has worked for me to remove marker or sticky residue from most any cart, case or even label. A premium plastic polish called Plexus. I use it on everything from cleaning my bikes to displays and restoring games. I dont know how more people dont know about it
I´ve bought a Super Famicom Cartridge from Japan that had a name written with the same pen just like that. It's pretty hard to take out all of that writing but I had great results using 99% alcohol and literally immersing the writing part in it... let it soak and using a toothbrush, brush a little and leave it again... you´ll see it dissolving the ink like a small cloud.
Next time, use a ziplock bag filled with a solution of the peroxide product mixed with water. This should prevent streaking caused by uneven spread of the paste. And for the pen ink stains, maybe try brushing with baking soda and a bit of water. BTW I am genuinely surprised that sticker survived so well, guess the chemical doesn't react with the sticker ink.
May I suggest the best way possible for label removal keeping the label intact? I suggest: take a tiny bit of lighter fluid and letting it soak into the label anywhere from 45 seconds to a minute and gently pulling up a corner with a razor blade and once the corner is up you may use your finger tips slowly too peel off sticker, (don’t let it soak for more than a minute it could possibly eat the top layer of the sticker it’d look like a clear piece of tape is melting off the label of you’ve left lighter fluid on the label for too long) once sticker is removed take some parchment paper and set the label on it and wrap/fold the parchment paper around the label and be sure to dab the top side of the label so it dries a bit better, once ready to re-apply label take it out of the parchment paper it should still have the adhesive and can be re-applied to how you see fit :) hope this helps ✌🏽
I know you probably wanted to keep the sticker so it would be original, but you can purchase replacement stickers for Pokemon and other games on Etsy for a relatively good price
The Retro Future: "So, you're gonna need a couple of household items." (Pulls out weird oven-like object I have never seen before) Me: "I hate UA-cam..."
I'm thinking to preserve the sticker you could use painters tape or mix a pinch of oxy clean in the solution, then place the cartridge on raised metal inside a plastic bag. It's the oxygen that does the bleaching with the UV light.
Hi! Nearly a year late on this comment so you may have found this out for yourself... But I've found that a good way to get rid of marker on plastics is to get NON-permanent marker, the sort you'd use on a white board and scribble over the permanent marker on the cart. A good thick scribble. Don't worry about following the writing perfectly. Leave it a few minutes then clean it off as you would normally. The non-permanent marker comes off nicely and takes the permanent marker with it. I used this method on several N64 cartridges and got great results - you'd never know they were written on! Obviously this will not work on labels though.
Elliot, I have a blue Sega game gear that’s has turned a darker blue. Can I retro bright it? I’ve only seen people retro bright white or grey plastics.
Next time try placing the top of the cartridge with the label in the freezer to remove it. The glue behind the sticker should freeze and the label might even fall right off by itself. Place the label on some parchment paper until you are ready to place it back on as when the glue thaws it will stick to what ever it is on but it should peel right off the parchment paper like a sticker would.
Great video dude. I want to try experimenting with clear gameboy color. It got a little bit yellowish. Hopefully this method would work, if not, it is a learning process for me
There has to be a way to remove stickers without damaging them. I don't know it but there has to be a way :D Maybe the retro computer community knows of one.
I’m pretty sure it’s possible to get rid of the adhesive on the sticker completely using WD-40, you can just spray a bit on the surface and it’ll eat away at the adhesive. I’m not sure if it will damage the sticker, but it gets rid of it!
If you're putting it in a gel lamp anyway, you should try a layer of clear gel polish to protect the label? It won't come off but it'll mean the label is a lot more resistant.
How come the cartridge is two different colors my copy of pokemon silver is half normal color and half what looks like gold to me it is my childhood copy and i know it is real i think it is from it being left in the gameboy for years as it lines up perfectly
Just found out there are options for gameboy cartridge stickers especially Pokémon ones you can buy that are reprints and some are definitely a different look like an updated version. Google answered a question I always wondered if was possible. You should paint it the same green as it would be if it was colored like red and blue the ones that were made I know they were in this country not sure on Europe or Japan

It might not be perfect but I think we all learned from it.

the only problem is the area around the tape wouldnt get cleaned well

It's best to let plastics soak while retrobriting, it helps reduce streaks and odd patterns in the colors

Most labels for Gameboy have a plastic coating layer incase they get damp so if it did get any cream on it it'd just de yellow the top coat
