Probstein is the worst for the hobby. I don't know how many listing either got very high sales and multiple cards got resisted cause of show bidding

Autopay blows and it does NOT prevent shill bidding at all. No connection at all to shill bidding. I hate it as a seller and as a buyer.
I mean, there is a connection to shilling. People won’t do it if they get charged

@@DanTheCardMan2 You have no idea what the vast majority of shill bidders do when they win their own auctions. Autopay also prevents combined shipping and becomes a headache when you bid on several auctions from the same seller and win several of them. Each one gets paid for individually. So you get killed on shipping as a buyer and have to hope the seller is fair in refunding back the overpayments

It makes sense the people doing this, Probstein or just your average joe, would fight this tooth and nail as they make A LOT of money on shillbiding. That's the "hobby" now.
I had several Anthony Edwards cards up for auction and 7 out of the 16 were unpaid for as clearly the buyers (4 different ones) waited to see if his basketball team was advancing and had to relist it and lost about 40%. I am a fan of this as on WhatNot you have to pay right away. Probstein's entire empire is based poor customer service and "alleged" shill bidding.

I’m tired of listings not getting paid. Had to relist 30% of my auctions. Where I live it’s illegal to bid in an auction and not pay. Hobby getting lame. I lost everything at $1 too
I think if they changed it so that it charges your card after the 4 day payment window that would be better. That way you have time to win multiple auctions and get combined shipping. Seems like that could be a happy medium
I think the four day window might give people too much of an opportunity to change cc or something?
I rarely buy 2 items from the same seller. So the shipping thing doesnt bother me. Shill bidding sucks tho.

What's worse are the ones that print the label and wait to actually mail it. Got that issue right now, bought a card saturday, label was printed sunday, and here we are Thursday and the seller still hasnt put it in the mail.

What I want to see is if they implement this full-time, if after just a month or two we see how wrong Geoff's Market Movers really is on the pricing of cards. I know this isn't what this video is about, but this is going to change things a lot. I think this is going to make a huge difference in, at least, the higher end pricing of some cards. I thought it was a dumb idea to price cards like the market was the stock market off of shill bidders auction prices, and that should have never been allowed to become the standard. Great video Dan!

You know why boxes cost so much? Because if they lowered it the demand would raise and they can't manufacture enough. We don't have the human resources for it. Most American manufacturing is involved in military parts and weapons limiting all manufacturing. It's why we pay taxes and insurance and high prices for everything, to deter demand. This should be a big concern in cards. Prices will get higher limiting demand from the average person, not interest just ability to buy,so production can be maintained. Nixon sent our manufacturing to China. I'm sure that card market is fine and affordable. Add in super mega breaks and what is left for the regular person
Fanatics are changing the approach. More customers less boxes as breaking is their focud
Combined shipping could be an issue , but if your a reputable seller you can always refund the buyer the overpaid shipping
It’s frustrating that a bunch of sellers don’t and eBay do nothing about it
I spoke with an eBay rep and currently they said they only way around paying separate shipping was for the seller to opt out of this or they would have to refund shipping. Otherwise you are paying full shipping for each item won.
@tkienast I agree. I have to refund quite often , sometimes people who buy multiple items will request an invoice, then I can adjust shipping cost before they pay
Great video Dan- been wondering what the status of this was, all we hear is it’s not live. I couldn’t agree with you more!! eBay needs to make this mandatory, PERIOD! There is no reason not to! I can tell you I’ve been on eBay a long time (my early days were buying). There came a point where eBay MANDATED that payments were made by PayPal!! Sellers who wanted to continue to collect checks and money orders CLAIMED that they would no longer sell if that was implemented. Guess what, those sellers are still on eBay and they were all talk!! eBay can mandate even the largest consigners to do this. At the end of the day, the probsteins and dcsports need eBay more than vice versa. No more excuses or delays- just do it.

Too many loopholes in this to make a difference.. why would they not use it for cards valued over 1k? That’s where most of the shilling occurs.
Probably concerned the auction fails or messes up or something? Don’t want to risk the bigger items for now

With E-bay nothing works unless the benefit, it about control with them, and with credit card all they have to do is dispute charge.
Disputing is also a lot harder these day. It’s also a crime to falsify them. EBay will win the disputes
It is so easy to go back as a seller and refund the extra postage and combine shipping. I don't know if sellers don't realize it or what the excuse is.
As a seller speaking my issue with your statement is if combined shipping is set up, wait until your done buying, make ONE payment. Paying 5 times, causing extra fees and then my time to refund isn’t exactly appealing. Now in this context, if eBay releases this, no problem. If a buyer has participated in multiple auctions and did things the right way, sending refunds is better than having shill bid auctions! However, my listings are usually BIN - I should never have to issue a refund
It is easy, it’s obviously a hassle but lots of sellers pocket the extra money
I thought Rick was complaining not to long ago about unpaid auctions and constantly having to relist items for nonpay. Rick needs to put his money where his mouth is. Sooner or later eBay is going to find out how much money people really have on hand to purchase stuff they really don't need and then you going to see a bloodbath on the selling side.

It’s funny probstein been shilling for yrs. I’ve seen the same card from him about 4 different times and it sold 4 times … maybe it will crack down on no payers or ppl canceling
