Good morning Kenny, I just watched your video where your Duramax froze up fuel. I’ve been running big truck for 37 years. I always use number two diesel but up here in New York State all your truck fuel stops run what they call cut diesel it’s number two but they cut it with Carol, I also use an additive which is called Howles. I believe it’s HOWELS if you use it regularly and if you freeze up, they guarantee the total bill. My 550 cat ran two big fuel filters. I had 300 gallons of fuel on board and I used Howels faithfully. It could be 25 below zero I never froze up it’s great stuff. Please pardon my spelling and punctuation. Good luck on your travels.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos. I kinda get a bit of grief from the bush craft and tent camping community. It really gets under their skin when I say I'm camping. Lol, so I really appreciate you giving my videos a chance. I was a police officer and first responder for years. I left the department in 2022. I now work for the Department of Public Safety in Minnesota. When I left the PD, I was given some momentos. I received a plaque along with a letter of accommodation. True enough.... we have not had much snow this year, only in the last three weeks have we had snow. Weather guys are saying -8 by the weekend !. When I lived in Hibbing, I had an 01 Ram with the 5.9 in it for a while. Thankfully I had stations in town that sold straight #1. I have the same Mr. Heater Buddy and an electric 1500 watt Mr. Heater. Were you ever in Scouts, a leader? Always be prepared. GLHF
Ah brings back such fond memories Kenny ......LoL! My first twenty work years was truck/ heavy equip. op. We always had a "winter kit" in the trucks...........1 gallon PowerService, 2 extra fuel filters, fuel separator, filter wrench, starting fluid, alcohol for air lines. Our fuel stop supposedly had winterized fuel...........ha-ha. Doing our pretrips in winter included dumping a Qt. of PowerService in each tank otherwise we would freeze up on the road. It still happened but got use to the routine of getting them going again. One thing I would do is put some Powerservice in the new fuel filter and separator before pumping the fuel back up. Question Kenny: Do you keep your rig in a heated building between trips? Another good video Kenny, really enjoyed your evening walk. Your soup looked so good it's a chicken white/wild rice soup tonight.
Thanks! The truck says outside all week. I have a regular 7.5 foot garage door. I have worked on the camper inside a shed on a few videos, but that's at my nephews house.
The reason I asked Kenny was one winter we had access to a underground warehouse that we put the trucks in over the weekends. Going from cold to a warmer environment to the cold again on Mondays was a disaster for condensation. Once again your little heater and the inverter/gen saved the day for you @@KennyOfAllTrades
I always wear shorts, even in the rain, but, if we have snow, then I MUST put on long pants and I hate that! I dress for MY comfort and strangers see me and they always make rude comments. Hahahaha! 😅 😃 😂
Man... As a fellow Minnesotan, I feel this predicament so much! We're on the temperature upswing at this point, but the sound of the snow crunching gave me flashbacks from the cold snap!
I'm utterly amazed at your abilities 😮, there isn't anything you can't figure out! Wonderful video, beautiful out there even in frigid cold. That soup looked soooo good. Fresh sautéed mushrooms, I'll face plant in that great Minnesota fare. 😊

Between your truck not running, a broken tooth 🦷 ( they can be so painful) and the deep cold 🥶 it was a challenging weekend but you just Rambo it. Terrific video, Kenny :)
Good video. I figured you made it back home, and your knowledge as well as your “McGyver” problem-solving abilities showed well. But I could not have enjoyed a weekend the way you did. I’d have been too on edge and worried about the engine not working, and possibly being stuck. So I appreciate and commend your ability to keep calm and level headed. Thanks again for the video.
I get that you don’t like asking people for help (I’m very similar) - but I’ll bet anytime someone asks you for help you’re all over it. That’s why I would say try and remember that people would be the exact same way about you asking for help. Glad you made it home ok!
Yet again another great video, and glad you got her fixed. I don't just love the scenery and all that you cook in your videos. But I learn so much also! My adopted Uncle Jeff who's family cabin is in Cross Lake, has that rice shipped to him. Funny thing you said.."heat wave". All my northern friends say the same thing. Stay safe, stay warm!

Once again your little heater and the inverter/gen saved the day for you

I could see how condensation would thrive in those conditions. That would definitely wreck havoc in the fuel tank.
Boy, it's cold weather like this that makes me glad. I have a gasser one ton. Thankfully, my truck started every morning of this cold weather.
I agree with you.
Always enjoy your adventures, last weekend it got down to 39 degrees in tampa fla, had to put on long pants, tomorrow 82 , back to shorts😊
WOW, sounds HORRIBLY COLD!!
Better than having a Tesla I guess...Hahaha! Always look forward to your weekly adventures Kenny!
I'm utterly amazed at your abilities 😮, there isn't anything you can't figure out! Wonderful video, beautiful out there even in frigid cold. That soup looked soooo good. Fresh sautéed mushrooms, I'll face plant in that great Minnesota fare. 😊
Awesome video Kenny!!! That is scary situation to be in. You are a very talented person. You know what to do in all situations. Staying calm and not panicking is the best thing to do. I’m glad you got it running and made it home. Really enjoyed the video take care be safe buddy.
I totally agree with you craven!
I keep showing your videos to my wife, trying to convince her that the camping season doesn't have to end on September 30. Maybe we'll keep this one quiet. 😁
Good luck with that Tom! 😅😃😂
Great vid Kenny. Love MN parks.
Between your truck not running, a broken tooth 🦷 ( they can be so painful) and the deep cold 🥶 it was a challenging weekend but you just Rambo it.
Terrific video, Kenny :)
Great video. They make a fuel filter head heater. It might be worth checking out. I'm glad you made it back safe.
I think that is going to be my next project. That may have prevented this problem.
Glad you made it out!
Your camera skills are so artistic...music, editing, narration==5 star. Makes me feel like I'm there,
Thank you! That means a lot to me. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Kenny saying hi from Washington state i think you secretly want to see bigfoot while walking in the woods alone lol just saying 😂 but seriously be careful out there they are in Minnesota also!! Love your videos your very smart and brave
I would love to get the first on-camera interview!!
Hello jennifer 🖑, I am also in Washington, small world.
I believe in Bigfoot, but, I DON'T want to see one!! NO thanks!!! 😲 😨 👻
