Mark, Great Idea for the Flexseal! From my firefighting days: i would always add TP to my list ! and a good cotton bandana ! Flashlight/headlamp w/ extra battery. camelback water bag inside an insulated foil shopping bag, that was in my freezer the night before, 20 Tums tablets for quick electrolyte boost (if needed.) GPS Garmin in Reach, X maps for properly lines & iPhone extra batteries. Plus 2 MD’s & 🛠️… that also varies depending on if I am hiking way off trail or on my Rokon. etc. Cheers, Gerard
I’m a fair weather detectorist. If I wear a back it’s a very simple 1st aid kit, and water and snacks. That’s not counting things I always carry when detecting. Like an extra battery and a shovel and trowel. I don’t like to carry too much or it makes detecting feel like work. I do it for fun.
I go light. I don't even wear shoes. But if I'm in the jungle or on the ocean, I always have a small microfiber towel, small mirror/whistle combo, and knife of some kind.
Pick the lightest and smallest items and build from there. Make sure to get Quik Clot or Bleed Stop though. That's a must. Thank you for your view and comment!
Really great video Mark. I like the "rip-away" first aid kit. I have the same kit. I also carry Hyfin chest seals, a flashlight, and a Sawyer Mini water filter. I know.... more weight, but if you need extra water, you'll be glad you have it.
Great Tips Michael!! I should absolutely have these, especially a life straw or other water filter. I always have flashlights but they are in my pants pockets. I use flashlights bt Olight like the Watkrriir X Pro, Seeker 2 and Baton 4. Thank you for your view and comment/tips!
Great video brother, thanks for your service. 👍👍Good info about what we need on detecting trips.🤔🤔I have used High Plains Prospectors many times over the years. I thought I had a lot of equipment in my pack, you have me beat brother.😲😲 Thanks for sharing brother, stay safe and blessed out there.😎😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Excellent video as always Mark! Having the Mojave Green out here, snake gaterz are a must, as well as most all the other gear you carry, for anyone hiking,md'ing, rockhounding in the Mojave desert! I have the strap on ones for gf and I. Thank you for giving the name of that finds bag, Ive been searching for a deeper one. That was a ton of axe heads in the bonus footage!
That snake is scary, nero and hemo toxins and can be rather aggressive! Good thing you guys wear boots/gaiters. Yeah I was blown away at the amount of axe heads!! Thank you for your view and comment!
Surprised nobody else asked this yet, here is what I have: MOLLE Military Combat Belt, Outdoor H-Harness Belt Suspenders with Detachable Suspender Straps for Outdoor Hunting Training. I then switched out the belt with this one: AIKATE Tactical Molle Belt, Battle Belt, Quick Release Rigger Combat Belt 1.75"/2.25" Inner & 2.0" Outer Heavy Duty Belt. Bought boylth of these on Amazon. I just put links into the video description too. Thank you for your view and comment/question!
Nice video. I live in the Arizona desert, so no need for mosquito nets 😁. Do you always carry your detector in your hands? The places I go, I need two hands to scramble over rocks.
I use an eBike every once in a while and the metal detector goes on the back of my backpack rig. So I could do the same thing if I needed my hands to hike in and around rocks. Thank you for your view and comment
In that immediate area I am not aware of any clubs but you have one in Stockton, one in Concord, two in Sacramento, one in Placerville. Send me an email at the email address that is in the description of all of my videos and I'll get you info. I am doing a presentation tonight for a club in Sacramento called The River City Prospectors which is an awesome club. They meet at Denny's at Highway 80 and Sunrise at 6:30 pm in Roseville tonight. Thank you for your view and comment!
I bet! I wish I didn't have to carry it but when you need it for a Mt Lion or a bear trying to kill you, it's nice to have! Thank you for your view and comment!

Nice I wouldn't mind getting rid of some of the weight and clunkiness but I'm used to it now. Thank you for the view and comment!
Great video, Mark. Some really helpful advice in here. I may have to implement a few of these ideas. Thank you!

Great video. I stay seasonally (9 months a year) at Pardee lake. Retired LEO. Looking for any detector clubs in the area. Any leads? Thanks.

If you took a gun with you metal detecting in the UK, you'd get 20 years in jail 😂
