Hi Michael, hope your doing well and had a nice Christmas! Great Tip! This is one thing that I do carry. I'm going to do a video on my own personal loadout.. the entire rig that I carry and everything that's in it and that magnifier (with light) will be talked about in that video for sure. Thank you for your view and comment, wishing you all the best in 2025!
Mornin Mark and Merry Christmas. Nicely done video. Definitely all must items to bring when out hunting, especially water. Lots of water!! I like the foundation in the background. Great touch!!
Enjoyed the video. I usually buy everything I own metal detecting related from High Plains Prospectors. Great people. Hope you all had a great Christmas. Went out yesterday a while and found some nice civil war bullets and buttons with the Deus 2.
Appreciate you letting others know about your good experiences with the incredible guys at High Plains Prospectors. I didn't get out this holiday at all where in the past I always did, sounds like you had an awesome outing and Christmas. Also appreciate the view! Best of luck in 2025!
Thanks for watching brother... and taking the time to leave a comment! Hope you and the family had an awesome Christmas and wishing you all the best in 2025! I plan on heading your way this year for sure.
Yes, good point I see so many on UA-cam out relic detecting in shorts with long socks and hiking shoes. Their shoestrings and socks are covered in stickers, not to mention their legs getting scraped up and bug bites. Boots are definitely important for us here at the places we detect but maybe for the park detectorist in a nice groomed city park somewhere or at a tot lot or a beach they wouldn't need boots like us here. But something for everyone to consider! Thank you for your view and comment and Happy Holidays!!
Maybe a crazy question... There are pointers on Amazon for $30.. Minelab has a pointer for $149.. both are suppose to be completely water proof.. and both look exactly the same. If you're new to detecting, can you squeek by with that $30 pointer from amazon or should you jus save up and get the minelab or another high dollar detector?? I do understand, you get what you pay for but Im jus getting started.
It's a good question. I have never purchased any of the inexpensive pinpointers from Amazon so I can't give you any opinion on how good they are. I think you're right that you get what you pay for. And many of these pinpointers that are inexpensive are copies of Major Brands probably reverse engineered circuits. I think Amazon has a pretty good return policy so I don't know how much risk you would have trying a cheap knockoff. However if you decide to get a good brand name model that has a warranty on it you can use the links in the description of all of my videos to get a good discount. Thank you for the view and comment/question!
Hi, there are generally two types of detectors. Those that are suited to coins, jewelry, and relics (parks, fields, around old buildings, beach, etc) , and those that are better suited to hunting gold nuggets which require more sensitivity in the mineralized ground of the goldfields. There are some detectors that try to do both, but usually are a bit less capable for gold nuggets. So decide which style of detecting best suits you or if you want to do a mix. I'd recommend searching for the Detector Prospector forum and ask there. You are bound to get expert advice. Good luck.
Today's metal detectors are very capable and the units with advanced features are even affordable due to competitive pricing among manufacturers. If budget is a concern that may change my recommendation. If your brand new to the hobby and not even sure if your going to like it, I would recommend a Minelab X-Terra Pro and if you decide you like the hobby, and budget is not a factor, I would recommend the Minelab Manticore due to its light weight, ease of use with the best menu structure of any machine made so far. Also a top tier machine with park, field, beach and even goldfield modes. Feel free to email me with any other questions you may have (email in description). Thank you for the view and comment / question!
Modern emergency medicine does not recommend using snake bite kits anymore at all. Today's treatment in the field is only to: Move away from the area of the bite. Remove anything tight from the bitten area. Immobilize the bitten limb. Transport the victim to a health facility as soon as possible. Apply pressure to the bite site with a pressure pad. So because I am a medical professional I can only recommend current standards of practice. In the Emergency Room they will consider administering antivenom in an IV. Thank you for the view and comment!
@@BrassMedic Thanks for the feedback, though I have concern as I'm in Australia where one could be 100's of Km from any nearby health facility to get there in time. Sometime as well I might be in the hills where there is long grass where we find brown snakes etc slithering out which presents a problem if bitten and on your own. I guess the golden rule is to have a second person with you when metal detecting but not always possible. Just trying to cover all contingencies.
@mikebloodworth9258 I totally get it. You have all the worst venomous snakes and so far from help or rescue. They tested the lance and suction style snake bite kits and found them to be useless in any effective treatment. The definitive treatment is always going to be anti-venom as soon as possible no matter where you are on the planet with a venomous snake bite.
This is true!! And where I filmed this video was right in the middle of it! Luckily they're all underground right now. But you definitely want to hear the snakes, especially if you're not wearing snake boots. Thank you for your view and comment!
Great video Mark. A folding magnifier is also good for us older guys, or for when the coins are a little less readable.

Having hunting buddies is the best tip! I have 4 active/5 in my group, and it makes it so much more enjoyable. Merry Christmas Mark

What metal detector do you recommend for beginner senior citizen.

I can't understand your message due to the language barrier. Thank you for the view and comment!
Any problem if we have it linked off of our mettal detecting club website? It is a GREAT beginner’s answer-all-they-re-questions video.
Of course not. That would be fantastic!! Thank you for the view and comment!
Great video but I think the first-aid kit should include a snake bite kit if out in the bush.
