Even after toiling away for so long, those without talent can easily get surpassed by those who do. But in this cruel world, should we give up that easily? Ena gives her answer in this song.
Infinitely Grey has already been out for a year and it never ceases to fascinate me with its pure emotion and lyrics. I will be analysing one of the focus songs of this channel's mascot.
My 100 Subs special! I would especially like to thank Kizuzu (@ kakkoii_8661 on Twitter) for helping me so much with this video. I love Infinitely Grey / Infinitely Gray so much for so many reasons and in this video you will see why I do so. Hopefully you come to enjoy this song as much as I do too!

The thing is, I’ve barely looked at the lyrics, and I mostly listen to the vocaloid version, but the song has always hit me. There’s something about the emotions of the melody that hits the part of me that feels lost and hopeless, and so in that way the song has always spoken to me, which is why I love it.

I relate alot to Ena as a person. I'm good at what I do, mainly art, but I never had a talent for it, I worked hard for it. Much like Ena I'm also worried about being left behind by others and I've struggled with being praised by teachers and peers but only I could see the flaws in my work and no matter how I tried to make it better, or in general in art, I felt that it was pointless and I'd get frustrated. I've also learned to just go for it and do what I like and I'm getting back into what i love to do. Then again I relate to the struggles of most of the group in some way or another but Ena and Maguyu hit me the most

I've always liked how in the virtual live performances of the song, when Ena sings "Won't you recognize me?", the lights turn off completely, rather than having a spotlight on her like songs usually would. Thanks for your analysis! I love hearing people talk about the characters like this, and you mentioned a lot of stuff that I hadn't noticed before! I think this song is one of the reasons I started looking into Sekai's story more, so it's great to hear someone talk about the meaning of the lyrics and the MV.

Very cool vid! Another thing i would like to add. Daffodils are also called Narcissus, which refers to the Greek myth of Narcissus, a man that was so obsessed with what he looked like that when he saw his reflection in the water he leaned into kissing himself and fell in the lake (Symbolizing again the water motif). I think it might be a metaphor with Ena's need to look good on social media, to get some kind of validation from it.
I love your pjsekai analysis! Keep going, you got this!

The song truly describes how artists always doubt their capabilities and the internal suffering, inferiority, self doubt
Different verses uses different sfx, start has a bass the end has piano and time ticking…
The rain, the sloshing of water in the first verse almost as if the artist is drowned (like in the mv)

I never knew the complete meaning until I heard the English cover of this song made by amiaryllis, gave me a critical hit right in the heart as a somewhat artist. This song itself is so well written I love it sm
This video also gave me a critical hit fr. I gave up my own ideas so much just to draw what people would like to see to the point that I think all of my choices of art are instantly invalid once I have thoughts of it. Infinitely Grey and this video gave me a literal slap. Though being a tryhard people pleaser, this is surely what I needed to know that I should be able to make art I like and art I want to show to others. Ena has been such a relatable character to as I can see a lot of people. Not just artists. Overall I love this video a lot I did not skip a single scene watching this. I rarely finish a video without skipping, this is amazing work!

I LOVE THIS thank you so much for the ena appreciation she is a character that i feel so deeply connected to and infinitely gray touched me when it came out!
I have a bias towards surii songs, and never understood the hate towards it myself. I think the way the characters scream-singing the chorus is super powerful (though i prefer the original vocaloid version myself) and conveys the emotions so well!
I also love how the choreography in the 3DMV itself is like a push and pull between her conflict of quitting or keeping at it, no matter how painful it is. And how the members part at the end showing ena in the center, as if they're here to support her, but the choice is ultimately hers to decide whether to move on or not (and her looking away from the camera shows how she herself is still struggling to come to a decision, because her story is not over yet). It's such a beautiful MV!!! Ahhh!!!

AAAAA I NEVER THOUGHT ID FIND A VIDEO DEDICATED TO THIS SONG AND ENAS CHAR??? IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY U GOT NO IDEA, like, unsatistfies pale color was my first event as well as the ena crd being my first 4 star in my first prsk acc (i lost it but i still got the card again later :D). The event story made me fall in love with ena and to this day she is still my most fav char and infinitely grey still being one of my top fav songs. Seeing sb singing the praise this song deserves just makes me very happ :D
also an interesting thing i noticed that wasn't mentioned in the video: the scientific name of daffodils is narcisus, ena's event outfit is called "narcisus painter's dress". Narcisus is also a figure in greek mythology and acc to the stories, he fell in love with his reflection in a pool of water ad stared at it until he died. Idk if the connection is intentional or not, but i still found it interesting enough to share

This was an oddly soothing watch. It beautifully conveyed the comforting side of the "you have to do what you can" line. I've been kinda exhausted lately, but I'm glad I found time to add this in. It cleared some of that fog. And it's nice to see this was informative just like your newer stuff! It's always cool to hear from one of the creators, so the interview quotes were cool to see.
The part where Ena describes using her welling up feelings to draw and that "I cried at the shape of my dreams". I'd often taken the last version, of smiling or laughing, as Ena almost sarcastically laughing at herself. But when you mentioned how it mirrors Ena's journey, it seems better to view it with more sincerity. Like she can finally smile and enjoy the work she's created, even if it won't ever be "perfect". Even if it isn't always easy. That she's found that satisfaction you mentioned being needed.

I didn't really find Ena's character that fun to watch at first, but then her Infinitely Grey event came around and the song itself, It felt like I was being stabbed in the heart. In some ways, I can relate to her. The feelings of perhaps never being one of the "special ones with talent" is something I feel very strongly. But Ena is different from me, she doesn't just give up and accept it like I do, she continues to push forward, no matter how excrutiatingly painful it is, and I admire that. Also, it's not related to the character itself persay, but Ena's va absolutely NAILS the emotional parts.

art is pain beauty is pain, art is beauty expressed outside of what you call "yourself" and just like beauty in yourself is hard to "conquer" art is a painful and long process to find what kind of beauty you truly want. I'll say it here and there i dont think slapping paint on a canvas is pretty nor is it art but if i look past myself i can understand that everyone views beauty differently and its not worth it putting others down. Confidence is showing beauty within yourself, art is showing beauty outside and so art takes confidence, happily it has been shown over the years that confidence can be understood THROUGH art. It's an excruciating journey but if it akes you happy its definitely worth it, that's why people who don't consider themselves talented have persisted through and thorough to achieve their own "art" and I think this is how i can encapsulate why i relate to ena so much. Art is so frustrating nd Ena shows the suffering and true happiness it leads to at the same time.
