A song can come packaged with many feelings; whether it be joy, sorrow, anger, or frustration. I feel that the strength of the emotions present in a song make it stand out the most as often it is related to the themes it wants to convey. One character often associated with songs and music is Yoisaki Kanade, a character I find to be quite intriguing, and in hindsight someone I relate to a lot in the past. However in this video I would like to give the spotlight to the songs specially composed for her as I find them to be just as interesting as the character herself.

Kanade Tomosu Sora will always have my heart
For Tricologe, the "toriko" part was always what stood out to me most. Otherwise, the ending part made me think “jewel”, like, imprisoned jewels. It also made me think “collage” and has this fancy faux french vibe that seems to pair nicely with ‘dining hall’ and ‘extravagant ball’ thing the song has going on.
Then again, the “loge” point out reminds me that the french might not be that faux haha. “Loge” does mean box (and lodge), but it also notably refers to a “gallery”, the kind onlookers sit in. It’s also used for “exam rooms” and “dressing rooms” which… well, Mafuyu and Mizuki. Bringing it back to galleries, it’s use in theater is what has me feeling ashamed for not catching the word. Because well, loge is also how you refer to those private feeling sectioned off seats on the sides, as well as certain balcony seats.
So it definitely is a word with a very “closed off” and boxed in vibe, as well as a “being watched and judged” one. It seems to be associated with passages and walkways too, covered or narrow ones, but those nevertheless.
The masquerade aspect really brings out the contrast contained in such a concept, where it can “keep others out” and protect, but also make one feel “trapped” and suffocated. It’s an interesting touch that the masks are colored with Ena and Kanade’s gem colors, since Mizuki and Mafuyu are definitely the ones more associated with both cage and mask imagery.
Had no idea trepanation was the word for that. The interpretation feels brutal but well put. The "corpse" line also hits different with this info, considering how such surgeries often end... and your comment about "no one cares what happens after" only solidifies that new painful aspect. Probably since those lines already hit in their own way for me, but I don't know how to articulate it, since it's such a... personal? feeling.
My personal favorite part of Tricologe’s MV is when the stained glass comes in. Muddled, chipped, and messy instead of vibrant and sparkling like it “should be”. But still, the screen is adorned with sparkles. The implication that the is light spilling onto each members cut-outs, seeped in the tones of each other. As the shading used on them also ties into the gems' colors. Just. Yes.
Honorable runner up to the part where the teardrop cut gem pops in during the water drop sound.
The little english translations on the certain lyrics are also fun. “Home is where you can make it.” feels weirdly deep. And “jailhouse” makes me giggle, like, “yes it’s our home, yes it’s a jail, it can be both.” Though now I’ve totally gone into rambling instead of like, actually trying to interpret the song, oops. (Best of 3, End)
The duality of the gems meanings and their labels is super neat! And ooh, Kanade/Ena and Mizuki/Mafuyu being grouped image wise totally flew past me. Nice catch! Speaking of Lower, both it and this song use the word “濁”(nigo, “cloudy”, “dull”, “muddy”). I don’t think it necessarily has some deep meaning, I just wanted to leave this comment off on pun.

Kanade tomosu sora really does have such a warm feeling, it was the song that made it click for me what the rest of Niigo must have been drawn to in Kanade’s own music. Also, since I’m terrible at knowing how to respond to vulnerability (I respect it!), I’ll go with a, “having the water drop part of the MV when you talked about crying is clever, brava!” Kanade’s songs know how to hit… this song does, but geez, even the covers with her tend to be tearjerkers.
I am realizing Mafuyu’s collar/obedience thing is a running trend, ouch. Also, seems like I really need to make room for that Infinitely Gray video, eheh. The commentary on Kanade’s savior complex is super interesting to think about, and the talk about the times of day and color is also nice, I love the observations about the others' windows and what they say about them! It really helps me better appreciate the way Kanade’s dress sort of melts into the night sky vs that aptly put “ephemeral” look for the shining “hope” of her music (also neat, it’s a music note!). The framing almost feels as if Luka is helping her find her “North Star” once more. In a way, her music is a crutch to avoid self-loathing and feeling undeserving to even go on, but it’s also what ultimately guided her to everyone else in Niigo.
Though darnit, ever since you pointed out that Mizuki always looked distant in their cards, I can’t help but notice how there’s usually something in the foreground to emphasize that the viewer is “looking from the outside”. Tricologe's event has the beam, but like you’re right, even when there isn’t an object to emphasize an extra sense of distance, Mizuki’s using their hand to do it. While I love how even the audience isn’t even allowed to fully know what Mizuki thinks, I’m starting to go from sympathizing with to empathizing with Ena’s frustrations. “No sad! Just rely on friends and tell truth!”

Finally a Kanade video!! She's my fav character so far in project sekai, and i love her focus songs so much 😭 every single time i listen to them i go to heaven
This came at the perfect time, I was actually just looking for an analysis on Tricologe yesterday. I don't see many analyses on Kanade songs; she's often pushed to the wayside in favor of the other characters in Niigo. But I'm really happy to see this, it was informative and fun!
I'd love to see a video on Akito or Shiho, as I feel like a lot of people miss the nuances of their character.
Also aside from character purposes, KTS and Tricologe are both so so good and I really hope her next song comes soon
both the songs are so well made and one of my top prosekai favs in terms of music, lyrics, and 2dmv. They truly are absolute geniuses

one thing about 3:55 and the thing abt kanade being the one trapped is that all the other members windows have a daytime (ish) sky, with mafuyus being daytime and mizuki and enas being dawn while kanades is night

And just when i thought i couldn't love my most favourite character even more, Kanade Tomosu Sora is still the one song that provide me with hint of serenity whenever I need something to clear my mind off the bad things that's happening to me and Kanade's character arc is really amazing. The girl went from a Martyr who's act was solely built by guilt but with others she starts to realized that she herself deserved to be saved

This is my theory but i haven't thought about it much, I thought tricologe meant tricolor gems because the katakana is actually written as torikoroje which means the g is actually soft, like in gem. However, the wordplay in toriko and loge makes a lot of sense here as well.

Apparently the third commission coming in march is going to be by teniwoha, so I can't wait to see how that's going to go

As much as I love the meaning in each of Kanade's songs. It just reminds me even more on the reason why I don't like Kanade as a character that much.
I don't hate Kanade by any means and I can understand why is her character like that, I just hate her overworking herself to the point of exhaustion because of her wish to save everyone with her music. Kanade wants to save everyone with her music, but what's the point in it if Kanade can't save even herself, I just can't like a character who while has an admirable goal is barely getting enough sleep, barely eating and leaving her room in a huge mess.
Again I can sympathize with Kanade, I can understand why she wants to save everyone with her music, I understand why everyone likes her character and I know why she became the person she is. But I can't fully like Kanade as a character because of her extreme work ethic just to achieve her goal. It doesn't help the fact that the story so far, Kanade isn't doing anything that much to fix herself.
Again let me repeat what I said, I don't hate Kanade, I can sympathize with her situation and anyone who experienced the same thing, I don't hate or dislike her character and I don't hate her goal of trying to save anyone.
The only thing I dislike about Kanade, is that she is overworking herself just so that she can reach her goal and isn't doing anything just to fix that.
So... You're just worried, aren't you ? Tbh it sounds like something Ena could say, by getting half-mad and complaining because her friend is doing something stupid, like she did for Mafuyu
But she's always soft with K so it won't happen I guess xD
The point is, this isn't hate, this is just concern, and it's okay. It's fine to be annoyed/mad against a character, or someone, that is putting themselves in danger.
It looks more like care than hate to me, at least
Also keep in mind that it isn't easy to do anything to fix yourself when you have a mindset such as her... What happened to her dad was "her fault", so of course she didn't tought she deserves to live anymore, after she hurted her closest family, last parent, the person who takes care of her at his best of abilities since forever, even if he had to do it all alone... And now he wasn't here, and she was the one all alone. And she stayed alone for a while, before Honami and Mafuyu came around.
(And she was still pretty young, too. That doesn't help.)
I do not believe it's her fault, but she firmly does, and she won't change her mind easily, so it will obviously take a while. (Trauma doesn't evaporates in two days, or Niigo wouldn't be here at all, after all)
But she is at least taking care of herself a bit more as time goes on, thanks to Honami and Niigo.
Hopefully, Mafuyu will break free soon, and will try to return the favor to Kanade... And then we will get some Kanade character development. Or I hope so
