Excellent many thanks for the video. Had my LG f1247TD5 for 8 years now and still in mint condition and works as good as the day I bought it although the display did go on it probably 5 years ago until last night when I watched your video and checked mine this morning and yes the plastic bit had slipped down! Superglued put back together and 100% fine over the moon many thanks.

I had this machine It died not long ago in march bearing seal failed and it had Leaked for a long time by the rust I found.
Wasn’t put off as was probably my fault for not de scaling it enough I was told.
Anyway got the new LG washer dryer and it’s great,
But I couldn’t find one video on this issue it makes it look like the screen is gone but it’s just that black thing happened twice to me with that model fh4u2 range I fixed with sellotape and if I see this someone on fb selling their machine because they think its broken I tell them that it’s just this little black piece of thick film and 20 mins of there time.
You will save 100s of LG machines going to landfill because of this little issue I solute you as like I said I couldn’t find 1 video 2 years ago for this, just board replacement videos.
    Well done man.

How do you find the quality of these LG washers? Are they robust and long lasting? How is the paint, as I can see some rusting along the bottom edge of the soap drawer? Anything else we need to be wary of such as inaccurate sizes (i.e. some of the LG washer are rated large capacity but are actually very small in depth - I'm think they are not really as large as they say)? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Hi it depends with how you treat it. If you overload it it won’t last long. Paintwise it’s because people put too much washing liquid/powder so it starts foaming out. Size wise you’ve gotta go and see it in person because it’s more about volume than weight. If you have the space the larger 14kg and above are better. Lg is the better of most of these brands. Make sure you get extended warranty.

Even the lights from the washing cycles have become deemed. Do you think that might be the same reason? I have an LG ThinQ.

I cut a slice of cereal box cardboard and wedged it below the display element.

I bet your washer is about the same age as mine.
The spin cycle throws off that little piece of plastic; even on a balanced washer.
