Dude Chris Ralph! I always tell people in an Irish accent that "its just out there for the takin!". You got me into this trip and it has been hugely positive for my life in so many unexpected ways. I am but a humble grasshopper but I'm not shy to tell everyone I meet about gold about you and how you've changed my whole perception of life for the better and how rewarding it is to finally achieve making gold from dirt and rocks. Thank you a thousand times from the bottom of my heart.
@@kateapple1 Haha Oh sweetheart, you are darling. You find the deposit of mineralized ore, in this case I'm referring to epithermal hard rock gold deposits which can be found fairly close to the surface in certain desert type environments which have a history of volcanic activity and hot springs and the like. What happens is the ground water becomes heated by a shallow magma chamber to hotter than boiling because it's under pressure from the gravel and rocks on top, the magma chamber puts sulfur into that hotter than boiling ground water which dissolves minerals like gold and puts it into the hot water solutions then somewhere down the line a chemistry change like the fluids passing through zinc rich gravels will cause the gold to be dumped off and deposited on to the country rock as the epithermal fluids leech the zinc out of the gravels because the solutions want the zinc more than they want the gold. Under stable conditions of saturation by these mineralized fluids the gold will begin to crystalize around the rocks and gravels it's been deposited on causing the rocks to sometimes bulge out of the ground like a little mound in an other wise flat area which is one of the ways to identify the deposits from afar. So once you identify these out crops of auriferous mineralized ore, you get your pick axe and shovel and start breaking ground and digging out all the rock the has rich enough gold mineralization to be worth your while processing. Once you bagged it up and got it back to your pad you wanna crush the material and sift it through a classifier, (I use 100 mesh) , into a gold pan. Then u adda small amount of jet dry or dawn or whatever to your pan, fill up a tub with water and sit your happy ass down and start wet panning your crushed classified materials by first saturating with water, shake, then dunk in to the tub gently swirling it clock wise and counter clock wise and to and fro being careful not to let too much material go over the edge, taking your time making sure to shake the materials up before each dunk back into the tub so it breaks the water tension and the heavy material stays at the bottom and the lighter materials like clay and silt wash over the edge. Once the water stops looking cloudy and dirty and is clear I dry out the pan in the hot ass Sun of Menifee. Once the material is dry I use a powerful fishing magnet to remove the ferrous minerals like magnetite and hematite, and alternate between winnowing the material and dry panning to get out the stubborn quartz sand. U wanna repeat the magnet and dry panning steps as needed until your concentrates are pure enough to effectively smelt. Then you take your material and heat it up in a cast iron skillet stirring intermittently outside to oxidize the sulfides before smelting, be careful not to breath the toxic sulfur dioxide fumes that will be released as the ore cracks and pops. Once it finishes oxidizing your material will look significantly more shiny and impressive. Now you are ready to smelt. Get your self a propane kiln and a silicon carbide graphite crucible and some borax and baking soda. Pre heat your crucible and coat it with borax so the gold doesn't stick to it. Measure your gold concentrates by volume and match the amount with your flux mixture. I use 2 parts borax 1 part baking soda to make my flux. Then mix it all together well. Pour a little borax on bottom of crucible, add your flux/ oxidized gold concentrate mixture til about two thirds full, sprinkle a little borax on top as the borax will lower the melting point of all within it and heat the kiln to about 2200 degrees fahrenheit , once the material is uniformly molten add a collector metal to help catch the gold if ur cons are lazy or less than super pure. Stir once with graphite stir rod to ensure an even melt. Then using tongs and gloves pour the contents of the white hot crucible into a graphite conical mold which will concentrate the heavy precious metals into a button. Let the slag cool, if properly oxidized by roasting beforehand the slag will look like black glass break with a hammer and the precious metal button will be at the bottom. Next I take that button and I cuppel it with some lead and borax. The button and the lead create a molten metal amalgam and as the lead is heated and oxidized it is absorbed by the cuppel taking base metals with leaving u with a pure gold or gold silver button.

Hi Chris! Jeff Williams recommend I check out your channel. Love your videos so far! I live in Vegas and have been buying up lapsed mining claims in NV and AZ since last September. Planning on selling most of them to pay for location fees for better claims that I could maybe lease out. My best claim so far is 120 acres on the west slope of Rich Hill in the Weaver mining district Arizona!
@@ChrisRalph Yep. Gotta make sure there’s actual provable mineral values before a “valid” claim is staked per the 1872 Mining Law ;) Of course, it greatly helps to narrow down the list and only file on lapsed claims that were previously held by the same claimant for a minimum of 10 years. Before BLM closed the case file for an “incurable defect” last November, my Rich Hill claim was last located in 1983.
I have more questions about the rocks exploding from the hydrothermal pool in yellowstone News reports described the rocks as black in color. Was this because the quartz was. Subjected to sulfidation?, or was there dome other reason for the dark color? Also, are there fringe areas within 5 miles of small hot springs where you might find pocket gold?
The rocks look dark gray because they are porous and very wet. There is almost no sulfides. If you dried them out they would be light gray. Pocket gold near hot springs are extremely rare, normally the gold is much deeper than the surface. watch this video form more info on Yellowstone, hot springs and gold - ua-cam.com/video/v136BEdR_yU/v-deo.html
