The IELTS Life Skills exam has two levels: A1 and B1. In this lesson, we'll focus on the B1 exam. However, the tasks in the A1 exam are similar, so a lot of the advice you'll hear is useful for both levels.
The B1 IELTS Life Skills exam lasts around 20 minutes. You take the exam with one other candidate. Sometimes, the examiner will ask you questions, and sometimes you need to talk to your partner and complete tasks together.

@@sacdiyajama6228 it's not hard it's just a conversation... You need to relax and talk about whatever topic. Say what comes to mind about eg your favorite sport.. Speak until she stops you. I passed and all I dd was have a conversation in English
I have just passed my test, thank you very much for all your help.
I don't remember what exactly were the questions now but below is roughly what I remember:
- We had to ask each other about a place we like to go and why do we enjoy it (question tennis)
- The next part I had to talk about my favorite tv program when I was growing up and my partner had to talk about something in their house that they can't live without, and of course after each presentation we ask each other 3 questions each.
- Listening is quite easy since they give you a paper with a question and 3 choices of an answer, which makes it easier to answer
- After that we had to plan a way to help our elderly neighbors, we had 3 choices (get groceries for them, take them out, etc..) and then a few questions (how often, what would you take with you, etc..)
- open discussion was about how have you helped people in the past and how would you help people (question tennis)
Just remember it's not a rap battle, you don't have to talk a lot, talk slowly and ask your partner questions.

We took the test today and this video was very accurate. It went ok I think, partner was good, South African native English speaker. Planning was a teacher leaving school what should be her parting gift, 4 minute talk was about shopping, 1 minute talk about a place near my home that I visit and why I like it. Good luck all! One thing to note is that before the test, they will likely make you read a simple paragraph. Just saying my name is.... I am taking the test..:: etc. I think this is just to test the microphone and not really a part of the actual test. So don’t worry about it. The examiner was quite friendly and the settings were very comfortable.

Great and very helpful video. I was passing my test on Saturday and the structure of the exam is still the same. Someone mentioned above if your English level is good, you just need to listen to this video a few times to have an idea what to expect from the test, that would be enough to pass.

@@tipspro15there are many different testers or organization and you should follow their advise .If you are doing the british council follow this video and instruction from british council they are the same. The british council will email you. All the example is really similar in the exam

I'M Really pleased to watch this video .You gave me some more hints and clarified many points since I prepare some candidates for IELTS A1. Very helpful video, thanks ! Took my test this morning and in first task I asked my partner 4 maybe 5 questions but he didn't asked me a single one. Obviously hi didn't liked playing tennis :) I wonder how this will reflect on my results. Fingers crossed.
