I usually get around our city with my husband and child in our car. When I go somewhere alone I use public transport because I don't have a driving licence. However the system of public transport is not very convenient in our city. It is easy to get to the city centre but you have to wait for an hour for a bus which goes to certain districts. In addition, buses run from the city centre to the place where I live until 10 pm. Before we bought a car we used to take a taxi when we were returning from the theatre. Also there are a lot of traffic jams in our city which can be avoided by taking a different road by car. So I'm going ta study at a driving school and pass my driving test. There are a lot of places where I walk, for example, à supermarket, parks and the seaside. And the school where I work is very close so I can walk in twenty minutes.
In Vietnam, there are many popular means of transport such as electric bicycles, taxis, buses, motorbikes. But I often use a motorbike because it's convenient, less damaged, and easy to use. Although it is not eco-friendly, it is very convenient
I mostly use public transport to get around, especially taking underground railway. It takes me around one hour to get to work. If I go to somewhere near my home, I prefer walking to cycling. It is not common for people to cycle around the city which I live in. I have learned so much from your classes. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing, Ting! You wrote a fantastic response. Here is one tip for you: 1) '...especially the underground railway,' not, 'especially taking'. Hope that helps you!
Hi, I live in Ho Chi Minh city - the biggest city of Viet Nam. I mostly ride the motorbike. Sometimes I either take a bus or taxi. Riding motorbike has lots of advantages: it's the fastest way to get my destination, and I don't worry too much about parking. But there are also some disadvantages like: there is a lot of noise when I ride and I can get stuck in traffic when having heavy rain.
Hi Tâm, thanks for watching and sharing your response. Here are some corrections for you: 1) 'I mostly ride a motorbike,' or, 'my motorbike,' not, 'the motorbike'. 2) 'Riding a motorbike has lots of...' not, 'Riding motorbike has lots of...'. 3) '...stuck in traffic when there is heavy rain,' not, 'when having'. Thank so much your. Helpful lesson ! I love Oxford online English. I learned some phrases verbs to express about public transport, cycle, car, subway, metro... And understand more about traffic culture in some countries..... First time I know more some new words such as legroom, layover....
Hii , Mithi here, I go to my hometown by train. Usually it takes twelve hours and I really enjoy the journey. Especially the natural scenes attract me as I am fond of the nature. However it takes much time so sometimes I avoid travelling rather than doing another important work.
Nice response, Mithi! Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) 'The natural scenes especially attract me...' not, 'Especially the natural scenes attract me...'. 2) '...it takes a lot of time...' not, 'much'. 3) '...doing other important work,' not, 'another'. Hope this helps you!
1- i ride bike to get around my home town. Advantages 1- i can easily go any where. 2- it saves my time. 3- i don't need to change vehicles if there is no any direct source toward my destination. Disadvantage 1- it is harmful for environment 2-it pays an extra burden on my pocket in form of fuel 3- Local transport is cheaper then it
Nice, Atif! Thanks for sharing. Here are some corrections for you: 1) 'I ride a bike...' not, 'i ride bike'. 2) '...if there is not a direct source,' not, '...if there is no any direct source'. 3) '...harmful for the environment,' not, '...harmful for environment'. Hope this is useful for you!
The popular means of transport in my town are motorbikes. Its benefits are convenient to move anywhere, easy to use. Its disadvantage is that it is very dangerous to travel when it rains
I often use electric bicycles and motorbikes to get around my hometown. It can be seen that , we are comfortable commuting , the time is controlled by us because we have our own transport . But the opposite is the frequent traffic jams, traffic accidents and environmental pollution
I live in Hanoi, which is the capital of Vietnam. I mostly use public transport, especially buses because it's convenient for me to go to my academy. Sometimes I walk or cycle when I hang out with my friends or go shopping.
My house is located in Dong Anh District, which is in the suburbs of Hanoi. If you live in the city centre, you can use buses. There are several choices for you such as bus number 61, 53A or 46. You should take the number 61 or 53A because it's quite near my house. When you come to Tien Duong commune, go through 6 stops and then get off the bus. Finally, after walking about 100 meters, you arrive at my house.
In Vietnam, there are 4 domestic airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways. About 7 years ago, I experienced a flight to Da Nang city on a Vietnam Airlines plane. It was a good flight since my seat had lots of legrooms and an air stewardess gave me a blanket so that I could sleep comfortably. That's why I have a good impression of this airline.
Hello, my name is Violet, I live in Lima and I think that cycle is the best form of get around most places, because usually in my city everywhere is crowded, and for me pay for a bus is expensive, here there traffic jams everywhere, since we only have two train lines, equally cycle is healthy, nevertheless is insecure, you cannot trust the traffic rules, is a result of the low quality of drivers trained for public transportation, in my country traffic accidents are frequent, but this not just is bad for people who use a bike, this problem affects everyone peruvian that use everything others means of transportation or have family members who use them.
thank you very much for helpful lessons. Here is my answer for your question : I have lived in a big city so I mostly take a bus to go to wherever I want.In every morning, I walk to Ben thanh bus stop and take number 15. It takes me 45 minutes to go school. When I go by bus, I will be not worried to be stuck in traffic and the weather doesn't bother me too.Second, bus is cheaper than any means of transport. Futhermore, using bus is more environmentally- friendly. When I'm in the bus I have time to read books and admire the view from the window.
Thank you for telling us about transport and driving for you. Here are some corrections for you: 1) You can simply say, 'I live in a big city', not, 'I have lived'. 2) 'Every morning,' not, 'In every morning'. 3) '...minutes to get to school,' not, '...minutes to go school'. Hope this helps you!
Transport and driving I live in a small city. People usually drive their own cars or use public transportation to get around. There aren't so many options to choose from since my city is not big, but we have motorcycles, buses, and shared taxis. Some people even cycle or walk when the places they have to go aren't too far. As for my family, most of them have cars or motorcycles. My father uses his car, which is a secon-hand one. A particular thing about my father's car is that runs on petrol and gas. I don't have a car yet, but if I have one it would be a Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.
I live in Vietnam and where I live, motorbike is a very popular means of transport and I also use it every day. I chose it because it is compact and very portable
PHẠM THỊ NHUNG The most common means of transport where I live are motorbikes. It has a great disadvantage to the air that when moving will release harmful fumes. Besides, it also has many benefits such as convenient and comfortable movement.
I live in city centren, near the North capital. Where I live, there are many means of transportation such as;bike, bicycle, car, taxi, train...If you want go around my home town, you can use motorbike, car or bus...When you take the bus and trains, they will take you to a fixed stop and you will need use another vehicle to continue moving. If you want go to the 31st Octorber, you can say: " Take number two for five stop'. And when you take car or motorbike, you will go every corner smoothly.
Hi Thùy. Thanks for watching and sharing your response! Here are some corrections for you: 1) '...in the city centre near the north capital...' not, '...in city centren, near the North capital...' 2) '...such as bicycles, cars, taxis, trans, etc. If...' not, '...such as;bike, bicycle, car, taxi, train...If...' 3) '...use a motorbike, car...' not, 'use motorbike.' Hope this helps you!
I usually go around my hometown by motorbike. The place where I live has advantages such as convenient roads for many means of transportation, easy and large roads, but there is a disadvantage that many vehicles move up or cause traffic jams and environmental pollution.
I usually go around by using my bike, the city is quite a sleepy place so u will never be stuck in any traffic jams and u can also enjoy the fresh air when driving as well as some beautiful sceneries. -there are many buses in my city but the space inside is so dirty and sometimes smell.
Hi. Im Nghi from Vietnam. I either ride a motorbike or cycle to get around my city. Sometimes i use a taxi to go to the party. Here in my city, there are not much public transport. We only have rails, buses and taxis. Taking a bus is more cheaper than a taxi. Many students often use buses to go to school. The disadvantage of using bus is that it take more time to change buses and you have to walk quite far to the bus stop. In addition, it is crowed during rush hour. There are buses every 30 minutes or so. Normally you have to wait 20 minutes or more. There are always traffic jams in my city , so the fastest way to travel around the city is riding a motorbike.
Hi Truong, thanks for sharing. Here are some corrections for you: 1) '...to go to parties,' not, 'go to the party'. 2) '...there is not much public transport,' not, 'are'. 3) 'Taking a bus is cheaper than a taxi,' not, 'more cheaper'. Hope this is useful for you!
I sold my car in order to make ends meet, it was faster than the public transportation in my area; but more expensive so currently I take the bus regularly. The advantages in taking the bus are, it is reliable, effective, and it gives two hours to return to my destination without paying another fare. Another very good advantage in taking the bus is that if something happens for any reason with the bus, passengers are being transferred onto another bus, unlike ones car that has to be towed away. One can also take a taxi, which is more expensive and when I call a taxi, I usually give a tip to the driver as opposed to the bus where one just pay a fare and return to the bus station in two hours to continue using the same bus ticket. Otherwise you have to pay another fare.
Thanks for sharing your response. You did a nice job! Here are a few corrections: 1) '...for any reason with the bus, passengers are transferred onto another bus...' not, '...for any reason with the bus, passengers are being transferred onto another bus...'. 2) '...unlike one's car that has to...' not, 'ones'. 3) '...where one just pays a fare...' not, 'pay'. Hope this helps you!
@@Oxfordonlineenglish1 - Thank you for your response professor. I am aware that I need to practice my tenses and plurals (countable and uncountable) more regularly; even though I have studied the rules. I need to speak more often than just read so I am reading along with stories with subtitles in English. One of my biggest problems is my fear of being ridiculed since I have experienced it a lot so I do not practice when speaking to people. Before I take any exams, I need to practice for at least another year; so do you have any teaching drills regarding the tenses and plurals that I can practice on a daily basis? I must say I love the British accent and I wish I were living there to master the English Language. I am interested in formal English before I pursue the native tongue. Thanks for all your lessons!

Hi. Oxford Online English teachers! I am from Ha Noi. Here I am daily going to work by motobike the most popular transportation in our big cities. It makes me get some disadvantages like noise, dangerous, bad air from other cars and motors, beside it is very harmful to the environment but in fact, the traffic is so terrible at the rush hour, the streets are so small then it can take for hours to get to my company especially use a bus. ( The only one kind of public transport in my city)Even though the bus is more cheap and safer than ride own moto. Otherwise the buses also come late regularly so that I can't go to work on time. The city's leader try to built more public transport ways like metro or BRT bus, ( presedence ways to run) but they are under building so now most of citiers have no choice except motobike.

I live in a small town so the best way to move around is riding a bicycle or walking. There isn’t a metro but there are many bus lines. I use to drive a lot because I prefer to be independent to leave when I want and also because I have two children to bring in different places sometimes.

The public transportation is inefficient in my town, serving just few places. It's unuseful for me. Is a city with only 300.000 habitants, in a poor region of Brasil. I either cycle or walk to school as it's quite close to where I live. Sometimes, I drive to some distant places where it takes me long hours to get there. I don't use public transports much because I suffer from motion sickness whenever I get on a bus, so it usually ruins my day.
1. you can take air to chengdu. after you landed. you can take metro No 10 for 5 stops and transfer to line 3 and get off at Panada avenue station from exit A. just a reminder, subway accepts alipay as well. it is very convenient. then you can take bus No 198 outside the metro station. and get off Panada base station. it is the last stop, so you can not miss it.

I use different kinds of public transport to get around my hometown; depending on the weather, availability of the cab service, budget and luggage. Thanks Daniel and Lori, for the helpful topic thanks to your topic, I have learned a lot of useful vocabulary, just in context, on traffic and getting around city. To understand the conversation between you two is not easy for me, but step by step, after a few times watching the clip, I managed to grasp its content. Now, I want to answer some questions about how I travel around my home town. I live in Hanoi, where people use motorcycles most often to get around. I used to ride a motorbike, but I don't have it anymore. I enjoy cycling the near places, and when I have to go further, I take the bus with my free bus tickets, a privilege of retired people. You cannot imagine how the construction industry in Hanoi grows. To get somewhere in the city, I have to rely on Google Map. It tells me which bus to use, where to start, where to change the route and how much time and how much it will cost. Thank you once again for your interesting topics. I look forward to waiting for another of you.
We're so glad the lesson was helpful for you, Nam! You also wrote an excellent response. Here are some corrections for you: 1) '...cycling to nearby places...' not, '...cycling the near places...'. 2) '...and when I have to go farther...' not, 'further'. 3) 'Google Maps,' not, 'Map'.
Although it is not eco-friendly, it is very convenient
thank you all very much !
Here is one tip for you:
1) '...especially the underground railway,' not, 'especially taking'. Hope that helps you!
Thank you all the Teacher that a good lesson gave me too much experience !
Here are some corrections for you:
1) 'I mostly ride a motorbike,' or, 'my motorbike,' not, 'the motorbike'.
2) 'Riding a motorbike has lots of...' not, 'Riding motorbike has lots of...'.
3) '...stuck in traffic when there is heavy rain,' not, 'when having'.
Hope this helps you!

Here are a few suggestions for you:

Advantages
1- i can easily go any where.
2- it saves my time.
3- i don't need to change vehicles if there is no any direct source toward my destination.
Disadvantage
1- it is harmful for environment
2-it pays an extra burden on my pocket in form of fuel
3- Local transport is cheaper then it
Nice, Atif! Thanks for sharing. Here are some corrections for you:
1) 'I ride a bike...' not, 'i ride bike'.
2) '...if there is not a direct source,' not, '...if there is no any direct source'.
3) '...harmful for the environment,' not, '...harmful for environment'.

The popular means of transport in my town are motorbikes. Its benefits are convenient to move anywhere, easy to use. Its disadvantage is that it is very dangerous to travel when it rains
I like your lessons,so professionally native speakers
I often use electric bicycles and motorbikes to get around my hometown. It can be seen that , we are comfortable commuting , the time is controlled by us because we have our own transport . But the opposite is the frequent traffic jams, traffic accidents and environmental pollution
I go to school by Motorbike. Sometime I take the bus if My motorbike is broken.
Your Videos are useful for me to study English. Thanks you very much
Thanks for sharing, Tien. Here is one suggestion: It's not necessary to capitalize words like 'motorbike,' 'my,' or, 'videos'.
The video sound is pretty good, beyond my imagination
It is very helpful and easy to understand.thankyou very much.
Great lesson. both American English and British in the same video.
Glad you liked the lesson!
thank you very much for helpful lessons. Here is my answer for your question :
I have lived in a big city so I mostly take a bus to go to wherever I want.In every morning, I walk to Ben thanh bus stop and take number 15.
Here are some corrections for you:
1) You can simply say, 'I live in a big city', not, 'I have lived'.
2) 'Every morning,' not, 'In every morning'.
3) '...minutes to get to school,' not, '...minutes to go school'.
Hope this helps you!

Hi
Transport and driving
I live in a small city.
PHẠM THỊ NHUNG
The most common means of transport where I live are motorbikes. It has a great disadvantage to the air that when moving will release harmful fumes. Besides, it also has many benefits such as convenient and comfortable movement.

Here are some corrections for you:
1) '...to go to parties,' not, 'go to the party'.
2) '...there is not much public transport,' not, 'are'.

Here are a few corrections:
1) '...for any reason with the bus, passengers are transferred onto another bus...' not, '...for any reason with the bus, passengers are being transferred onto another bus...'.

The city's leader try to built more public transport ways like metro or BRT bus, (
presedence ways to run) but they are under building so now most of citiers have no choice except motobike.
Thanks for sharing, Thu! Here are a few suggestions for your writing:

The public transportation is inefficient in my town, serving just few places. It's unuseful for me. Is a city with only 300.000 habitants, in a poor region of Brasil. Although the disadvantages of few transportations, we have the benefits having short distances between the places

1. you can take air to chengdu. after you landed. you can take metro No 10 for 5 stops and transfer to line 3 and get off at Panada avenue station from exit A. just a reminder, subway accepts alipay as well. it is very convenient. then you can take bus No 198 outside the metro station. and get off Panada base station. it is the last stop, so you can not miss it.

Here are some corrections for you:
