For heavier 650cc plus motorcycles, I've been told the break in period is to make sure driving hard causes shearing and torsional forces that can impact mounting points which is why first service checjs always include mounting point checks...I'd still take it easy for the first 1000 kilometers...
I recently bought KTM 390 Adventure X. I did not redline it yet but rode it normally the way anyone would. For the first 2 days the engine was heating a lot confirming friction between new engine parts but now the heating is normalised
@@karthikreddy8427 For break in, I did not cross 5k RPM at any gear. After the break in i changed the front sprocket from 15 teeth to 14 teeth due to low end torque issues
I didn't do any break in period for my dominar 400. The salesman actually told me not to worry about the break in period and just enjoy my bike as I want to. It's been 2 years and I haven't found any problem with my engine notlr with the piston.
I read somewhere in the yt comments that there was a time when riders would max out their new bikes because they believed that if they rode it slow in the beginning then the bike would remain slow for its life 😂😂
ride slowly or fastly its up to you but if you want more performance or atleast the performance that the bike is suppose to deliver you should atleast have to take for a topspeed run once or twice in run in period itself so that the engine will reach to its max potential or max load and withstand that load, dont just pamper your bike all the time.
@@appu9836 bhai tu kaise bhi chalao jhaant fatak nhi padtha engine ko, bus pehla 500 kms smoothly ride karo bus, uske baadh open your engine, push the limits.
While rebuilding I believe a run-in is a must even if you use complete OEM parts. Old and new parts are getting mixed and in such case, one must follow a proper break-in.

I recently bought KTM Duke 390 Gen 3 and after 1500 KM engine started producing some noise and due to which my engine had to get opened. I did resist and asked for a new engine but as I was a normal customer with no social media reach, I couldn't get it. I just had one question is it ok if my engine got opened in the very start, my bike is running fine now but I have got the apprehension of it being faulty and all other stuff.
Sad to hear you had to get engine opened at such a early stage. How is the performance now after engine work. Do you feel any positive or negative difference??
Bhai baat to sahi hai bilkul. Maine nayi bike li thi 2015 mein aur khoob bhagaya usko. I used to get 25-30kmpl average and never understood why. Then uska engine khula 2019 mein and I followed the advice from the mechanic. Usko 500kms bade aaram se chalaya. Uske baad se I've been getting 50kmpl avg ab kaise bhi chalaun fir bhi
Really great and nicely elaborated message, Thank you. I was really concerned about my vehicle coz I got it delivered last week , as I wanted to feel my vehicle's power I had to go for a outrageous RPM push but then I realised the instructions given to me was not to stress the engine for atleast 600 kms , after that I'm using it economically with maintaining constant RPM ... Will that affect my engine?? Please help me with the query.

I did around 5 rides of approx. 100kms on new F250 in it's running period. On those rides, I took it to 120kph for a minute or so. But I didn't redline it completely. Max RPM was 7.5k But 60-80 was my cruising speed on those rides. User manual says max. 50kmph but I feel 50 for a 250cc motorcycle will rather harm than doing any good. You'll be lugging your motorcycle a lot. User manual also says to avoid riding at a single RPM for long durations and keep varying the RPM. Is my approach correct?

Raiyaan, while I agree completely with your comments about the quality of machining, material and lubrication.. . I would argue that there is no harm in being nice with the bike for the first 1000 odd kilometers and let it clear out its rough edges. There isnt anything that can wrong with this approach, there are only potential benefits in staying within some reasonable rev limits. The break-in period can be substantially low compared to earlier days though. The engine heating in the initial period will be noticeable because of the friction which needs to wearout (that is what is break-in). Once that happens the heating will reduce substantially, from there on one can push the engine on high revs without possibly causing damage to the moving parts. After all we are putting our hard earned money on the machine and little patience is well worth it.
What's the max speed for Honda Highness cb350 during running-in period? I'm doing 60KMPH max in 4th gear. Not trying 5th gear now before 1K odo. Is it alright?
Recently i bought new avenger 160. 1st service done at 500 km now its 1000km done. Till now i am ridding at 55km per hour. So now can i ride at at 70 to 80 ?
Ride it slow more but do hit high speed one or two times in your 500 to 1000 the engine also need to understand its potential. Not everytime tho if you take care of it too much it will not give you maximum potential of it.
Is it safe to do rev-matching or clutchless upshift when the bike is very new? Assuming I can do both pretty good since I have practiced on the same bike before.
Maine new bike li and due to situation mujhe 90kmph + jana pada or tension me tha ki kahi engine problem na kare but apki video dekh ke tension kam ho gayi.
But I am still in doubt that mechanics in authorised service center also not doing work as per the company guidelines, I saw in hero , they are just like local mechanic only few equipments they have extra for normal service other wise for any serious engine issue , they open it just like local mechanic fix it on floor with all the parts nuts spreaded here and there and even floor is also not cleaned
