My grandma was looking for a new freezer, and I pulled this video up for us to watch, right in the Home Depot! She ended up getting it and is definitely satisfied 😊 Many thanks for your through review (especially when you put in the food)! It was very appreciated.
I bought a mini fridge with freezer from Walmart about 8 years ago! When I first got it, I loaded it up into the back seat of my car on its side so that it would fit. Still using it today and not a single issue I've had! I even use a digital thermometer in both the freezer and refrigerator and still keeping cold to the specs! I did read the manual which said to not plugin the unit for 48 hours if it's been on its side during transport. I did just that if not more! Maybe that's why it's still going strong today? It's also been kept well ventilated keeping 5" away from the wall so that it can breath.
Exactly, if you have to transport it on it's side, then by all means do not turn it on for at least 48 hours. That way the freon will be completely settled.
LOVED your video!! Tons of room. FYI... Instead of storing your food goods directly on freezer surface, find a plastic container that will fill up the bottom then placed your frozen goods in container. Youll notice by placing goods directly on inside silver surface , it will leave dents on the interior. In the event u want to sell down the line, you will not have dents in the silver interior. Great video!!!
I ended up getting this chest freezer for my garage and family of 3. It’s perfect. Holds plenty. I’m glad I did not go for a larger size (7cu ft). The unit is essentially silent. My garage does not have large swings in temperature, so this unit should do just fine.
Three things, 1. These freezers are NOT garage ready. The compressor will burn up very quickly if you live where it's hot. This will also void the warranty. 2. Let freezer stand upright for 24 to 48 hours if you tip it on it's side. There's oil in the compressor that needs to settle back in place. 3. The clothes basket was genius. You can hold almost three 1.5Bu laundry baskets of food in this 5cf freezer.

Amazon has an option to point where you want the freezer in your home to see how it fits, I was at work but I pointed it at the recycling bins and it’s about the same size. I have a VERY small home and there are plenty of places I can put it, I want it inside because stray cats break into my garage and the boys pee on everything…mine are neutered so they don’t, just the occasional one who breaks in, but whose fond of cat pee? I’m alone do I don’t sit at the table anymore, I have a banking app so I don’t pay my bills there, do NIW I have a giant table taking up my dining room, snd it just fits!
Right on time. We bought a new fridge and thought that keeping the old fridge for a freezer would be a good idea but it wasn’t . Its huge and in the way.. will get this.. TY
This is the same reason I am purchasing one as well. I am spending to much shopping at Costco on a regular for my meats and produce and it is only a family of two. lol!!
I have to ask... wouldn’t some place AWAY from a heating duct and water heater be a better location? It seems to me that the freezer would run more when sitting between the two.
I was thinking of buying a chest freezer I wanted to see how big and deep it was going to be. I’m glad I came across your video thanks for demonstrating on how much food u can put in there I really liked your video thanks for sharing.
Texans and other hot-climate dwellers should be sure to get freezers with operating environments up to 110 deg F, unless your garage is well insulated or well shaded. Some freezers are only rated for 100 deg F. The manuals are usually online, so it's worth checking before purchase.
Just bought mine yesterday $189.00 plus tax $ 200 and sumthen can't remember. Going to fill it tomorrow after the 24 hour first time freeze. Happy freezing 🤣
My sister gave me one just like this when she bought her a new larger frost free freezer today and brought it to me with a friend in a truck.. you can't do better than that..🤣
My question is, do you think you should double wrap those products in freezer type bags to help preserve them longer... Over top of the store Packaging?
Always transfer your meat to freezer bags to prevent freezer burn. I even wrap in butcher's paper after the freezer bags. Flatten meat in the bag as much as possible, get as much air out of the bag as you can. Then wrap paper around twice, label and freeze. Veggies are transferred to doubled freezer bags or throw the veggie bags in freezers bags. I transfer so I can get as much air out as possible. Hope this helps. The freezer won't help if you don't prepare the food to fight freezer burn.
Vacuum sealing helps a lot. Flavors don't mix and it prevents freezer burn. Depending on the sealer they can be a bit expensive at the beginning, but if you buy rolls online you can find pretty good deals. It really makes a huge difference.
Thanks for the great video on this freezer. Looks like it has a 5 yr warranty on the compressor which is nice. I was going to get a 7 cubic foot but after watching your vid I think a 5 is plenty.
I enjoyed the video and the information you provided. Now I know this is the right size for me and I don't have to go into a store to see it. I can order online and have it delivered. Many thanks!
It is a little too small and it has a smaller compressor and it will not last as long as a 5 cubic foot and up.. don't ever buy the smallest and cheapest unless you're desperately cramped for space..
We got the same one! I started freezing all sorts of stuff since we moved to HI to help cut back on our food waste and expenses. Hope it helps in the long run.

Wow,thanks, I'm one person and looks too big,I now think the around 3 cubic feet is plenty..the other thing is to pick these up at the store,I can see its basically impossible for these to be shipped to you without damage.lol
Don't ever buy the smallest or cheapest of anything.. a 3 cubic foot freezer would have a smaller compressor than a 5 cubic foot.. unless you're desperately cramped I wouldn't get anything under a 5 cubic foot it will last longer and you have more space if you need it and it will consume about the same amount of power or less since the smaller compressor will have to run more..
@@charlesjackson1700Also to take up unused space in the slightly larger 5 cubic foot freezer, put jugs of water in. Once frozen, they act as thermal mass, helping to keep everything inside cold if the power goes out for awhile.

They are taped in place to keep the gasket from getting flattened "there". Do not plug in until the unit sat in the upright position for 4 hours "there". That's what the manual says "there" for those "readers" out there "there"
Can I ask why it has to be in the upright position for 4 hours before plugging in? I read another comment that says 72 hours. I also saw him tilt it on it's side, not good. Is that why it has to sit?
@@keekers So the oil in the compressor settles where it's supposed to be when it's running. If it turns on and the right amount of oil isn't there to lubricate the moving parts in the compressor as soon as it turns on, then kabluwee! 4 hours is a bit much, but that covers the people who have their new freezer in a cold place. For some reason, many of these brands just quit working after 2 years - just look at the 1 star reviews on various sites selling these. I then looked on yt for fixes and it seems it's actually an electric component that fails - start capacitor or something like this - when it fails it prevents the compressor from running. Not that difficult to fix for a skilled DIY-er but the downside is when the thing dies, you loose hundreds of dollars in food. Just be aware, the industry is using cheap electric components on these low cost units - again, all brands included, they all source their components from the same companies.
