I should note that butterflies in some mythologies are considered vessels of the spirits of the dead, so you could interpret that as the butterflies being the ghosts of Broody's hometown that have come to take him away
Except that isn't what happen. Also whole execution was ridiculous. It is not that butterflies can't be scary but that it look almost like a comedy sketch here.
@@propheci yeah Blackheartzero doesn't dislike Jojo, they were commenting about an "egg" because Clamp, the same creator as this anime, once made a Jojo's Fan Manga that involves Kakyoin and Josuke being a couple and raising a child from an egg together... yes.
I believe this anime would've had good potential if it were more based on the original manga instead of starting and ending right in the middle. I agree about the voice acting which is why I find the Japanese/english subtitled version or the UK dub easier to watch....and yes. I am a Clamp fan and Rg Veda is one of my favorite mangas. The artwork is gorgeous, you find so much more about the characters and their histories, there's much more emotion and the story itself is sad, but very exciting at the same time. It kept me interested and still does. This is why I can appreciate the works of Clamp. Personally, I think their way of story telling is really beautiful. Just thought I'd throw it out there. :)
I do like that Sage acknowledges that the fault comes in the anime ADAPTATION into a shortened OVA format (and a lazy one at that) rather than the story itself in manga or the story in and of itself. As a CLAMP fan, even with all the CLAMP cliches and foibles, all I can say is thanks, Sage!
Yeh, oversize shoulder-pads or other restricting yet pointless armor parts, or bikini armor. Outside really light stuff most females wear exact same plates in real life.
The dub used here is interesting as the one from when I watched this years ago had a very British sounding voice cast. Made the majority of the cast sound much more regal and dignified, it's hard to explain, but overall it felt better than this to my recollection. Back then though, I swear I thought I was missing episodes before and after what was shown here because everything begins and ends so damn abruptly.
Charlene Alyssa Ingram He does. The cutoff moves up each year but I think the qualifier is it needs to be at least a decade old, and he's already covered several series and films from the '00s.
Anime Abandon started in the early 10s, so the 00s were too recent. Yet here we are close to the 20s, where all the 00s will be available. Though is just me, or does anyone else still think of the 00s as part of the modern era?
+0utta S1TE Gurren Lagann was dubbed by Bandai in 08, so this year it will become available. Whether or not he will is another thing, as it is not really a forgotten title.
8:31, clearly you've never seen Buso Renkin. There you have two scary types of butterflies. One made of gunpowder that explode with more force than a hand grenade and a flamboyant superman, who likes to parade around in black spandex and sometimes a butterfly thong. Your choice on which is more terrifying.
for those who want to know more about RG Veda SPOILERS AHEAD: 'Misty' has no gender, Darth Bishie is actually a good guy who was in love with Misty's dad Ashura-o and would do anything for him, and Ashura-o was like ok you can sleep with me but you got to kill the king and then kill me and then eat my remains afterwards to stop a prophecy where my child will destroy everything from happening and Darth Bishie was cool with that, the prophecy more or less happened anyway, and everyone died Shakespeare style except for I guess Misty and Broody who love each other in that ambiguous but intense CLAMP way.
"Darth Bishie is actually a good guy who was in love with Misty's dad Ashura-o and would do anything for him, and Ashura-o was like ok you can sleep with me but you got to kill the king and then kill me and then eat my remains afterwards to stop a prophecy where my child will destroy everything from happening and Darth Bishie was cool with that..." I really felt like Clamp pulled that "Taishakuten was a good guy all along" twist out of their collective asses. Yeah, they did the same thing in "Rayearth" but in "Rayearth" it fit. You could go back and look at Zagato's actions and everything he did made sense. In "Veda" Taishakuten forces a sick child to sing until she drops dead and then he feeds her corpse to his pets. Good guy my ass. Zagato was cold and aloof but he was never cruel just for the hell of it.
Agreed. The pulled that out of their ass. I don't know if they really thought they could redeem Taishakuten or they were just bored, but yeah, that whole "force a sick little girl to sing until she dies" kind of makes it impossible to say "He's actually a good guy" after. To be fair, good writing was never CLAMP's forte.
You blew my god damn mind with the "Rig" thing. I legit thought it was "Ar gee" until this very moment and I KNOW THE ORIGINAL MYTH? I just never... put it together?!
2:25 It's spelled without an 'i' because that's how it's supposed to be spelled. Ṛg Veda. In sanskrit (the language of the Vedas) the 'r' doesn't act as a consonant, but a vowel. Usually it has an underdot to differentiate it from a consonantal 'r'. Try saying a _arrrr[g]!!_ like a pirate without the 'a', maybe roll the 'r'-bit. The British empire wouldn't have any of that, so they added an 'i' to make it suit their palate. Same thing with Krishna, which should be _Kṛṣṇa._
As a kid I thought one of the many reasons bishonen characters exposed their chests was because it was to tell whether that person was a male or female.
Man, jumping back to the newest videos while still going on a trek through your archive really puts it into sharp perspective how much you've slimmed down.
And now I have to go watch Lost & Found. I remember loving it back in the 90s and now I have to see if it holds up without the nostalgia glasses on. Thank you for bursting my "Ignorance is Bliss" bubble.
Get it, got it, good predates your example with an appearance in the Court Jester (1955) with Danny Kaye. It also has a great bit about a chalice with a place :)
Poor CLAMP, they've made so much great work too. And the new Cardcaptor Sakura is turning out sweet so far. 18:40 I have a good idea after recently getting through every second of Endless Eight

Wow, this anime... So I guess back in the 90's there was a company that released single episodes of anime and whatnot on CD-ROMs (licences, not bootlegged as far as I can tell). Bart Simpson was right, "No one will suspect the butterflies!"
Is it me or in every single CLAMP manga there is always a perpetually smiling bishie who really likes to keep his eyes closed?
CLAMP's best kept secret, one of the original 11 creators was really just rob liefeld in a wig.
"Get it, got it, good." Is from The Court Jester, starring Danny Kaye. (circa 1955) *tips fedora*
Thexsoar the Bearded Thank You! I love that movie!
Though, in fairness, that line in the Court Jester was between two people, while the version in Lost and Found was just one guy.

What a gentleman.
@@blixer8384 1955? Fedora.
Oh god! Misty isn't the only one here!
