Hahahaha...oh now, you are giving me too much credit, but thank you for the supreme vote of confidence !! If a guy thinks about what he's doing I think just about anyone could handle this. Now I WOULD suggest honing the skill on a few smaller ones first. LOL Thank you for stopping in today.
I was happy to have her do the camera stuff for a change. She does enjoy giving her two cents worth for sure !! We seem to be pretty lucky at not breaking body parts while working.
Hi Wendell! Now THAT was an impressive operation! Made all the better by the witty commentary of the missus. Over 8,000 pounds! That’s both scary and amazing! Very clever rigging on your part to get that monster on the trailer. Thanks for sharing!
I have a Norwoods chart that shows the average weight of all types of trees, so there can be slight variations. But I'm sure its pretty close when dealing with hardwoods like this oak. Cutting the seven feet off the back including the very wide split into two directions reduced the weight of the big one considerably. I kinda messed up with the rigging. I should have first hooked to one end and slid it just beyond square the opposite way from which it was sitting. Then it would've loaded much easier. Thank you for watching another one my friend.
Back on the home place we loaded like this with a tractor. But my dad started out as a kid over a hundred years ago loading with a team of horses or mules. The gentleman he learned from was a freed slave hired by my grandfather as a farm hand.
Wow that's a couple big sticks of lumber good job loading and unloading and the misses did a great job giving us the play by play and even better getting away from the run away log quick thinking good video guys enjoyed watching take care have a great week
Glad the Supervisor was there for you! You missed her again! LOL No "Squish component" today. 😊😊😊 Taking it nice and slow wins the race (having good old horse sense helps a lot). The way people drive today keeps this country boy away from any rush hour. 👍👍👍
Yes, she didn't get figured into the equation once again I guess. I prefer to figure the outcome minus the squish-factor when ever possible. LOL. That'd give the Missus a bad day if she was included, that is.
Amazing!!! The Egyptians also moved overbearing weight with a bit of ingenuity. Nice work once again and tell your wife that I’m also proud of you wearing ear protection!
I am surprised at the amount of noise these things eliminate. They are bluetooth too, so I could listen to podcasts or music at the same time. But with this kind of work I want NO distractions. These things ROCK too. Put 'em on and you are in your own little world..just that quick. I'll pass the message on to her Rob.
They sure come in handy out here in the woods with loading dead tractors, machinery or even the occasional sizeable log when necessary !! Thank you Neil for the pleasant and supportive comment.
Nice work! I enjoyed the missus commentary. Make sure she gets the nice lunch and fancy coffee you promised! Otherwise, she might not answer the phone next time you call for her help ...
That was a good job done and it proves that you can move or lift anything if one rigs the right way....well done....and I enjoyed the Missess on in here.....CHEERS

That's a big piece of wood ! Lol . Really enjoy seeing you put that up on the deck over. I have the same winch but on an old car hauler type trailer. It does the job for sure. Wife's commentary is always a hoot, keep up the good work guys. Scott....
Well, the Missus thanks you for the acknowledgement. I never know what's going to be the result when she's behind the camera. LOL. So you KNOW how good the Badlands seems to be firsthand. On a carhauler OR a deckover they are a very reasonable addition to making your job easier by all means !! I've even used the winch for UN-loading many times. Thanks Scott for stopping for a visit today.
Wow, that is a monster log. Missus did fine work with both the camera and commentary! Pretty quick on her feet too! I’ve some catching up to do on the videos
Yessir it was nothing to fool around with for sure !! It'll squish a guy pretty quick. It's gonna take a little whittling to get it down to fit on the little mill.
It's gonna take a little whittling with the alaskan mill before its going to fit on the little Frontier I believe. LOL. This was less than ten miles from home.
By golly Gary, it sure was. There's another one just up from it that's arguably bigger, but it is not slated for removal yet. I do have to go back later for a fair sized hackberry. Won't be good for much, but it'll be fun to mill.
Heck yeah man...with a long enough pole (or enough pulleys) a fella can move the world !! Not really, but that's what some old philosopher said many centuries ago. Thanks James for the visit and I hope you enjoyed the exercise for the day !!
Wendell....this was an awesome show, Musses was awesome with the narration, it was totally fun, I can tell I managed a couple of times to take a refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machines of a trailer all by myself but this was a next level I will not try by any means
Well Jan, thank you for such a compliment my friend !! The Missus made the afternoon go smoothly for sure. I think you could do this safely if you had to. It's just doing what ya gotta do to get a job done !!
That is one BIG log and a Great Missus operating the camera! I’m tippin and Sippin fer ser your way! More in a bit! DaveyJO p.s. This unloading was very impressive indeed and it requires another tippin and sippin! A FINE JOB ! Especially Missus!
Good Morning DaveyJo !! Yes, the Missus did a good job and I'm lucky to have her help out on the camera from time to time. We too are sittin' tippin' anna sippin' just lookin at some awesome calendar pictures !! Thank you my friend. I sure hope you guys are making ashes and staying warm like we are.
The Missus grinned a bit when I read your comment to her. (-: She was afraid her feet were going to get cold and it was 58*F (14*C) !! She said I promised to take here hiking in Canada and that's why she bought them. LOL
Thank you for the complimentary comment. We've done this many times in the past and hope to live long enough to do it quite a few more times too !! Thanks for watching.

Well, yes I am in my 20's... I had on my 20 year old shoes and 20 year old underwear !! New pants though. It felt like I was dressing up for church with those on. (-; Thank you for watching Rob. I'm glad you enjoyed the exercise my friend.
Well Steve, I agree with you. But she is 'fair weather' help. Her temperature span is from 55F to 80F...outside those boundaries are off limits !! LOL. She said 85F is ok, but only IF there's a breeze and she gets to stand in the shade. LOL. She helped me disassemble a diesel engine last fall and has been on me to get back to it because she really enjoyed doing those videos...some of which I haven't even edited yet.
As always an enjoyable video, even more so with The Missus. When are we going to see you build something with all of this milled lumber? I would like to see you build a nice chest or table. (shelves and framing not included)
Well, my nephew gets his choice because he is the big woodworker in the family and its HIS daughter (my great neice) that now owns the old family property that was once her great grand fathers. But there should be plenty for anyone that wants a little of it though. I'm afraid there's going to be a fair percentage of rot to work around. Btw Ric, If you wanna see some projects, I am editing a video right now you might find entertaining. Some old projects AND tools.
@@rickburris6164 Well Rick,we have a ton of flooring and wall coverings all over the house out of saw mill lumber we've processed into tongue and groove materials. A few snippets will be in the very next video. I'm editing it during the course of the day as time allows. There should be many more new projects come down the line in the future as well.
@@rickburris6164 No, it will not fit as it is. I will have to whittle it down to near 22x22 to fit the little Frontier. Its advertised as a 27' capacity, but that's only if its a perfectly straight and round piece which allows you to trim the four sides of the log with multiple passes to end up with the 22'' dimension that WILL pass through the saw head. An OS 31 would allow me to pass through a 26" cant. This Pin oak is 36" on the big end and 17'6'' long.
I've not decided to slab it all the way with the alaskan mill or just pare it down to fit the Frontier bandsaw. It's GONNA take some prep work though !!
Well, I gotta admit, it's getting a little harder jumping off the trailer. And now there's no jumping ON the trailer...its CRAWL on the trailer. LOL. But we've done it like this many times over the years as necessary.
Good One Lee. I never believed in life insurance. They cancel ya about the time you get old enough to really consider it beneficial for the survivor. Life insurance is betting on yourself dying anyway. LOL And you don't get to reap the benefits of the policy either.
I agree. On our 54'' circle mill back home we had a chain hoist hung on a rafter for the big ones. We'd lower the hook and use the 'swamp dog/log dog' to roll it after we got it on the carriage. I do the same now with the dog and chain with the loader bucket: ua-cam.com/video/KxZ_CGk3hGo/v-deo.html
Good Morning my friend. Well, here's the long version of the tictok short. I really messed that one up. But I thought we were going to have to give it a nudge with a cable and was going to set up the phone to catch it for the other account....didn't work !!

Great job getting that large log loaded. Always impressive what can be accomplished with a little bit of knowledge and a couple of blocks.
Heck yeah Wild Bill. I pick up every snatch block I see at farm or yard sales. They make the job a lot easier on the equipment for sure.
Great team work.
Rule #1 Never stand with your back to the load. 😁
Nice job on loading the logs. Having some snatch blocks is invaluable.
Ain't no replacement for displacement and snatch blocks are the 'go to' accessory for a job like this ! (-;
