@Cipheiz Jeff is one of the best 'auditors' on UA-cam. He's always polite and courteous. What is it that you think everybody missed? In the United States, one doesn't have to justify oneself to the police when one is engaging in not only legal, but constitutionally protected activity. The police had no business demanding id from somebody who isn't violating the law. Jeff would've been well within his rights to refuse to answer any further questions, but ultimately chose to do so for the reasons explained in this video. The police aren't required to give a subject Miranda warnings prior to engaging in a consensual conversation with him or her. They're not even required to do so before detaining a suspicious person, so that part of your argument doesn't hold water.

I never claimed that this was a consensual convo, I just mentioned that Miranda warnings are unnecessary during consensual contact and during roadside detentions.
A police officer can approach anybody. I, personally, want police to respond to service calls and investigate suspicious activity. However, they are wrong to detain somebody who's obviously not committing an infraction.
You mentioned that a complaint is grounds for detention... If the complaint was something like 'there's some guy across the street with a camera who's filming the hospital. We asked him not to, but he continued anyway'. Nothing is illegal in any of that. If I rang the police and told them that there was somebody across the street carrying a trombone, would that give a police officer grounds to detain that person?

You are straight up a cop “in this day and age”, tyrant cops favorite line. You cannot say you do not know that is a law as an excuse, you are implied to know the law. See that’s all cops say is people do auditing to just get the likes, now you are saying people are making the comments to get likes. You apparently haven’t a clue to what you are talking about . This post must have really triggered you to get you to comment on it and really pushed your buttons. Do you understand the way you treat people and have treated people is the reason cops are hated. You all are scared shitless when you are out afraid you are going to be targeted “in this day and age”. What I don’t think you understand that it was you all that are the reason the violence towards you all is all of your own making. You can’t continue to beat people up, kill people’s family members, treat people like your King Tyrant and do whatever it is that you want to. The people will rise up against you, but that is what you all wanted since you have it is us against the citizens. It’s got to come from you all, you all have to change. We can’t do the change for you when you have our backs to the wall. My mother always told me you can’t back an old dog into a corner and not expect it to not come out fighting. That’s what you have done, you all have pushed us in the corner and we aren’t going to take it anymore. I use to think that most all cops were good and there was a few bad apples on any given force. What I am finding out by watching a ton of these videos is that it’s a complete 180 of what I though. Most all cops are bad and there’s very very few good cops on the force. You can’t say you’re a good cop and watch another cop violate a person’s constitutional rights, that makes you just as bad as he is, if not worse. At this point I don’t know what the answer is, I know it can’t continue the way it is. I don’t want to see people killed or hurt on either side if we are drawing lines and picking teams of us against you. I would say a good starting spot would be to lose that mentality from the police. There is so much reform that needs to be done, I don’t think it will do any good, too much damage has been done on the police’s part. At this point, my suggestion would be to start over with something totally different. Policing in America is dead, it’s too far gone to recover and salvage.

Without even seeing the rest of this, which I did, that shoulder roll at 1:10 set the stage for this entire incident. The first thing that came to mind the second I saw that was "Here we go. It's on now". This guy doesn't even pretend to know what he's doing, and that little snippet of body language immediately conveys that he doesn't care about anything but filing his report. Even if he has to stomp all over every single one of Mr. Gray's constitutional rights, he's going to make damned sure to correctly fill out his report. And that thing about asking him what his Social Security number? I'm not sure that's ever allowable. I mean, that's your everything number that can easily be used to ruin a person's life for many years. People don't really get that anymore; you're supposed to keep that number confidential at all cost. And then there was the line, "Just allow this to be what it is". Man, if that isn't a true statement about what this cop is doing here... He could have just said "Just lie there and take it, and this will all be over soon." Every single time the cop tried to turn the whole thing around and blame Mr Gray for his having to be out there and writing a report, I had to laugh... he was the only one causing a disturbance throughout this entire video. I really hope Gray went and filed charges against him at his earliest possible convenience. From the very second he showed up, it was on. like he was being bothered; like he was interrupting his internet porn time or something. I would think it's probably pretty difficult to watch porn on your phone while you're busy giving someone's rights a good and thorough curb job.

Yeah, but if someone called he has to investigate. He knew there was no law being broken, but he still had to identify the person to make sure there were no warrants or restraining orders. He asked for more info than the law allowed, but was probably part of department policy. The cop isn't a lawyer. He is going to follow policy. If the auditor wants to sue to change the policy, then go ahead. I personally don't see an issue for a cop to identify a person if someone called to report him. If this was a stalking situation, people would be upset that the cop didn't identify him and a victim got hurt.

That is not what happened here. The fact that you don't see an issue with the police identifying people at will without any legal reason or authority to do so is very disturbing. Imagine if you were completely innocent and the police were harassing you, and trying to violate the law and your rights. I'm sure you'd have a different opinion.
