I bought the Roomba J7+ because of your review on it. When you said that its home base is as powerful as it is I knew I had to get it. I have three LARGE Shepskie dogs. They shed A LOT, to the point where I'd have to be sweeping multiple times a day if I didn't want to see little clumps of hair. It cleans my floors great and that mess detection is awesome! Yesterday my dogs spilled some dog food on the floor and the Roomba was nearby so it just so happened to see it and it vacuumed it all up, went to the home base, emptied itself and returned 6 times! Plus, the peace of mind that it won't run over poop is so great!
Yeah, I have 4 cats and a dog and the j7+ is a life saver. I had a Roomba 980 before my j7 and it's just not comparable. The only thing that sucks is the bags. I fixed that with a Dyson though... :P
@@AnIdiotwithaSubaru oh my gosh I was just watching your videos last night, Hahaha! How’d you do it??? How does it work? Does the Dyson vacuum and disconnect from the base to empty?
@@valerie80yearsago90 yeah, its super simple to clean out and put back on. The rear tube just pops off and you lift it off the base. Even the button on the Dyson bin to dump out the waste still works! It goes back on just as easily. Its also quieter and has a far superior filtration. I'm glad you liked the video and Ill make some updates soon! :)
@@tiagoj8020 I tested it with my cat's more solid vomit that was basically just all cat food and my Roomba plowed right through it. That was a few months ago though and the ai has had a ton of software updates since
The firmware upgrade for the J3+ has secured it's place in my house for years to come. Prior to the upgrade the i3+ was an all or nothing proposition. It still doesn't support "no go zones", but that simply encourages me to keep tangle prone items off the floor. And owning cats, is less precarious than being a dog owner, but I do have to risk the occasional "hairball" mess. My master bathroom is where the litter box is, and it's so nice to simply send the robot out to the bathroom once or twice a day to pickup stray litter that the cats have left across the bathroom floor. My two i3+'s are stationed up stairs and downstairs. Each one cleans it's entire floor 3 times a week. But the upstairs one cleans the bathroom twice daily. Very sweet. And with the auto empty bin, it's very hands off. The i3's for me are what I consider "entry level". The 600 series is great for what it was, and is pretty bullet proof. But it is about as subtle as a bull in the china shop. iRobot could slow down those robots if they chose to, because my i3 is much less aggressive in it's taps, but they choose not to. The i3 just offers so much more than the 600 series. You get about 90% of what the j7 and S9 do at a much lower price. IMHO the S9 should only be considered for homes which are nearly completely carpeted or have heavy carpet. The J7 should be for pet owners, and people with children. But if you are not a pet owner that is in danger of a household mess, and don't have a lot of small kids continually taking stuff out and leaving it on the floor, then the i3 will fill almost all your needs.
So, I know you can't designate No Go zones, but can you limit the size of a room so that it never goes on a certain side or past a certain point? Thanks
@@NoNameFish247 If the area is big enough, you could create a "room" out of the side you don't want it to go to, then exclude that from your vacuuming (kinda manual though...you wouldn't be able to use "Vacuum Everywhere" and prevent it from going into that "room." Other than that, you'd have to keep it physically blocked off (mine doesn't traverse objects over 1-2" tall, as long as they're heavy enough to not get pushed around), or use the Virtual Wall devices (at $50 each, they're pricey, but you can find compatible aftermarket units for around half the price) -- it seems Roomba *will not* cross a Virtual Wall line, period (AFAIK, the camera models *will* navigate through No-Go Zones if necessary to get to another room, but will not vacuum there). My i4+EVO (Costco model, just the i3+EVO with a larger battery) will get within about 1 ft of the Virtual Wall "line" & turn itself around. It keeps approaching that area to clean as much as it's "allowed to," but no part of it has ever crossed the line in my testing so far (even the spinning brush).
@@NoNameFish247 You can divide the space in multiple "rooms" and then tell it to clean just that area. The divisions can only be from "wall to wall" so you can't designate a "room" in the center of a space, but if you want to divide the space into multiple sections and give it different names, you can. Just realize it's not "perfect". It still relies on internal navigation, so it's going to sometimes go past those boundaries. And if you ever choose to "clean everywhere" it will clean all spaces it can find wall to wall.
In 2022, the smart navigation and obstacle detector of my Roomba 581 made in 2007 is me! It taught me how to tidy up the mess at home. And lock the dog on the porch while the robot does its work :). I wish I had $$$ to buy a wonderful S9, but it won't be anytime soon. So, 581, you have to last another 15 years. :)
S9 Plus the Ultimate Roomba. This will be my next robot vacuum i will buy from irobot. My roomba i3 plus is more than 2 years already and still working great.
Currently a Neato D7 owner (owned a Neato Botvac Connected before that) that gets used in a mid-size, single floor house that is roughly 50% carpet, 50% hard floors. I have an iRobot Braava Jet m6 and a Dyson V15 Detect+ that I use as well. For the most part, I have been happy with the my D7, it has worked well (especially with the ability to create No Go zones). It's LIDAR based system, large bin, decent battery size, and strong suction has done a great job at keeping the house clean. But it falls short with its lack of object detection, its inability to self-empty its bin, and its height due to the top mounted LIDAR prevents it from cleaning certain areas (under furniture and china cabinets). I try to run mine multiple times a week and each time it can collect enough to fill the bin after every single run (mostly cat hair). With my frequent use, I am now reconsidering a replacement that empties its own bin. And with a kid and cats that like to leave stuff strewn about the house, I always have to make sure that every single item is picked up and out of the way so as to not foul up the D7. Sometimes a kitty likes to pull out a toy afterwards and leave it in the path, causing the D7 to jam and stop. So obstacle detection would be great. I was waiting patiently to see if the new Neato D10 would have any major improvements that would check off these requirements, but it does not (plus I've read it has had a lot of bugs in its release, despite being delayed for over a year). I really like the S9+, similar profile to the Neato, strong suction, larger coverage, and it self-empties. But it lacks obstacle detection. The J7+ has obstacle detection, but has a smaller coverage and lacks some other capabilities of the S9+. The S9+ appears to be overdue for a replacement. Here's hoping they release an updated model that incorporates some of the updates from the J7+ along with further improvements of the existing S9+. If they do this, they will most likely be getting a sell from me. I will then be able to link it to my iRobot Braava Jet m6 and get more use out of it.
Roborock has you covered. I have and old s5 and also an s6max V, my brother and father both have s7’s and my other brother is holding out for the almost about to release s7maxV ultra, tuely the ultimate robot vac/mop combo
Hi love your reviews and was wondering if you could do a video on steam cleaners for: bathrooms, carpets, clothes, sofas, stoves, kitchens and other household furnishings and stuff that a multi-purpose steam cleaner can clean. Keep up the great work, I find your videos very informative, useful, helpful and well made!👍
I have the S9+ with Braava Bundle; best combo ever. I use it downstairs and for my upstairs I'll be replacing my Shark Robot with a Roborock S7 MaxV -- just came out.
1. Are the "Keep Out Zones" a direct and virtual replacement for the Lighthouses? 2. Does the S9 offer any better software options/mapping/scheduling over the J7? 3. Anyone ever review the UofA for the software? Any data privacy issues/concerns?
I also was a huge fan of LIDAR Had both, a Neato and now a Roomba. Vslam works just aswell. Actually its even better since my Neato sometimes lost itself. Both systems work, and have worked for me. As long as it does its job
So I guess I wonder when the "J9+" will be released, since the J7+ sits in an awkward position where it's better than the S9+ in some aspects and worse in others.
I like my new to me 675, but am frustrated by it stopping when it comes to my living room rug dark-colored panels (1'X5') and I have to move it to get it to resume. But, sure enough, it will head right back to the dark panels and stop again in a minute or two since the last stop. Do the others you reviewed "see" the dark rug panels as drop-offs?
Just set up and ran the I three vacuum for the first time and it did such a lousy job! It missed a lot of spots, went into two rooms and only swept one time then left. It finally went back to its base and struggled to roll back into it. Then it got clogged up trying to suck up debris for very first time. The app told me to unscrew several screws at the bottom of the base to clean it out, but there was nothing in the base. It was caught in the flapper of the vacuum cleaner itself. I pulled some of the debris out of the vacuum and tried to put it on the base to see if it would suck up but it didn’t respond. Not sure if I can pull remove the bottom of the vacuum to manually remove the debris myself because I was too frustrated to deal with it! Before taking it back to the store, I decided to give it one more but but still it didn’t clean up everything. I just have wood floors so it should not be that hard. My little 600 (?) that I got years ago is still ticking. It lost the ball that goes behind it but it still pulls itself along the floor vacuuming up stuff without scratching up the floors. At least I can dump the debris out myself and see if it’s sucked up anything valuable. AnyWho, I’m not that impressed with the new models!
Are you reviewing the new roboblock?? I’m considering breaking up with iRobot completely after being unable to receive support on my new models this year. I’m really interested I a quality robot vacuum and mop that also has customer support
Thank you for the review. I have a question, I am looking to buy the robotic vacuum cleaner, but need the one that will deal with the long hair without tangling them around the brush. Are j7 and s9 any good for this?
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much! You’ve answered everything I need to know and I don’t need to watch anyone else video to learn which Iroomba I’m going to upgrade to. I have the 600 series. It don’t have a smart map. I have the IRobot that can mop and have a smart map. Like you said, it’s randomly goes around and plus I’ve learned more. I’m getting the S9+. Thank you! Great video!
Awesome video comparison, thanks so much! I gotta say.. I've never had it happen yet, but having your vacuum run over a big pile of dog pop would be the absolute worst. I really feel for anyone who's had to clean up the mess that must have been spread everywhere because of that. Omfg thT would suck hard!
Great video, I actually collect vacuums, I currently have 64 of them, and one robot, the Neato XV12, still works great but wanting to get some current robot vacuums. I ordered the new Roborock S7 Max V, the ultra version with the empty and wash station isn't available yet so hopefully I can get the station later, regardless, the S7 max v has all the same robot features. I'm also looking at the Ecovacs X1 Omni. A review of both of those robots would be great if you can get them. I'm also thinking of getting a Roomba and I'm torn between the s9 or the j7, I know the S9 is more powerful but the J7 is newer, I just wonder if the J7 would clean as well as the S9. I have all hard floors, no carpet, and no pets, so pet hair and pet waste are not issues. It looks like the J7, even though it's newer is actually cheaper.
My J7+ cleans super well but yeah, the S9 is a beast. irobot is rumored to be releasing a couple of products this year so id definitely wait and enjoy the roborock s7 max v. I want that auto empty auto wash station toooo. I currently just have my modded Roomba j7+ and my Narwal t10
@@AnIdiotwithaSubaru I did head over to Best Buy and get the J7 plus. Did one cleaning cycle so far and it does seem to clean really well, I'm not sure why Irobot didn't use the same vacuum motor as the S9, that would really have been awesome. My Roborock s7 Max V has shipped so looking forward to trying that, I'm not sure if it comes from China or if they have a warehouse here. I still might get the S9, that robot has such a powerful vacuum motor but the Roborock might actually have more power, not sure.
@@VacuumWars I can't wait to see your review of the Roborock S7 Max V, I'm up to 6 robot vacuums now and that one is one of the best, if not the best. I've decided not to get the Roomba S9, although it's powerful and cleans well, the battery life is terrible, especially if you run it on the max power setting which is how I run all of my bots, I figure if it has the power why not use it? The Roomba J7 is ok but it's navigation is not as good as lidar bots, there's no way around it, Lidar bots navigate better. I also picked up a Roborock S4 Max, that one doesn't have the mop feature but it's an excellent robot vacuum. I definitely understand now why Roborock gets such great reviews, their bots are excellent. Another robot I recently got is the Eufy Robovac X8, that's Eufy's top of the line model, it is excellent. The other bots I've gotten recently are the Neabot Q11, that's a really nice bot as well, the Lidar is on the front instead of on the top, and last but not least, I got the Dreametech L10, it's very similar to the Z10 but without the auto empty dock. For me the auto empty feature is nice but not a requirement. I currently have two auto empty bots, the Roomba J7 and the Neabot Q11. I was thinking of getting one of the Ecovacs X1 models but based on the reviews I've seen and the high price, I think I'm going to hold off on that. One bot I'm looking at getting is the Trifo Lucy pet edition, it's a camera bot but it sounds really interesting.
The smart mapping feature for the i3/i4 models requires firmware 2.2.0 or above. Sadly this update is region specific. I live in Denmark and I’m still on version 1.2.21 on my i4+ which is the latest available firmware, but hopefully that’ll change because smart mapping does sound nice even though it has limited functionality. Great video, btw 👍 Cheers 🙂
@@cmonroe1 The "app" governs the download of the firmware. He'd need VPN software on his phone or tablet. I know of no way to "Push" the firmware of the device by way of computer.
@@AASSDD2022 Hello. The firmware was updated to version 3.4.67-100 in September and now the smart mapping feature is available. Is pretty basic though, but it works ok ☺️ You can only tell the robot which room to clean. No fancy features like No-go zones / lines or specific zone cleaning.
Unfortunately the one part that will break on these are the wheels since they tangle up hair to the point where the wheel axil will sheer off its retaining clip. And the wheel is the one part iRobot doesn't offer replacements for SMH.
For a robot vacuum, I want the best of the best. And there's no reason for Roomba to use bags in the self emptying base rather than just a container that you can remove, dump out, and put back. Other than they make bank off of the bag sales. I also don't understand why they put the object detection on their mid-range product and not the high end one. I would drop the money on their highest end model, maybe even more than one, if they could provide this.
The bags greatly reduce how much dust is released in the air. having a filter bag that can be sealed as it is removed from the clean base is a god send for people who are sensitive to dust. A removable "dust cup" from the clean base would still generate the same type of dust issues that comes from manually emptying the bin on the robots. So the bags make sense. And at around 6 bucks a bag for 60 full cleanings? A dime a cleaning? really? The S9 was released well prior to the J7. It's camera does not look forward, as much as it looks at around 30 to 45 degrees off horizontal. That camera was not intended for object avoidance. I expect the S9 to be replaced with the J9 (or something similarly renamed) with a forward facing camera, and when that releases, the S9 will be discontinued the same as the i7 was.
@@andrewcbartlett I like that the s9 has 40x suction and a square front. It would do a better job with corners and carpets. Right now, Roomba has some top of the line features that they haven’t put together in one bot yet. Plus, I have the i7 and felt I didn’t have enough justification to upgrade to the j7.
@@Dyanosis Lidar is a separate competing technology not used on the J7, it uses iRobot Genius Technology and PrecisionVision Navigation (that's a camera and AI to you). It has excellent room by room mapping with keep out zones and custom clean zones. The J7 has probably the best object avoidance capability such as cables and dog waste, using AI. It has no problem finding it's base after a clean. Your comment is at best misleading, at worst just wrong. If you're an unhappy customer perhaps you should study further how to use it.
Take a look at my Roomba individual reviews. I don't seem to have problems with wood floors, but you may want to check with your flooring manufacturer.
Are you familiar with different retail chains offering different roomba variations? Such as Walmart offering an i1+ and Costco offering a i8+? I understand you wouldn’t want to promote specific retail stores, nor is that the channels purpose, but I was unaware of these niche offerings until recently and wondered if those models had performance differences or specs than the model it’s based off of. Keep up the great work on your videos and experiments, I’ve promoted your channel to all my friends in the market and believe you offer something extremely informative and unique.
Thanks for the vidoes. I've lost count on how may I've watched 😀. I purchased a Roomba & a Steam Mop (note, I still do quite understand the difference btw the hard floor cleaners vs a steam mop, but I'm not concerned about grout which seems to be the focus of hard floor).
This was the most PTSD inducing episode yet. Roomba, the AI leader of the Robot Vacuums, has committed so many war crimes throughout all the Vacuum Wars. Then when there is a moment of peace, people forget all about the sons they lost to those dam vacuums.
With my Roomba 980 it used to automatically carpet detect and turn on the turbo feature but now i have to manually do it from the app and i’m confused why they’d remove that

We’ve had iRobot 980 since it came out, but find it hard to upgrade to S9 , due to its astronomical cost. When I bought 980 - it was expensive, but not S9 price expensive . Tempted to upgrade to j7, but dunno if it has more to offer over 980
The Roborock lineup brought me over the edge to buy a new one :) Got the S6 MaxV from them, which can mop very well and also avoids objects - which works great. I've integrated it into my smarthome and it does everything on it's own now :)
If u have pets or leave small things on the floor the j7 really shines. If your good about cleaning up clutter and don't have pets the s9 is good. Tbh they are both good. I liked my s9 better. But 8 also don't have pets, and I don't leave cables and small things on my floor. Really just depends on lifestyle
Same as the i7. It’s similar to the J7 but with none of the AI obstacle avoidance features. Don’t think they had the clean base self-empty either although iRobot has a kit to add it to i7s.
I wish you would stop saying that battery life is irrelevant! IT IS NOT!!! I have had a Roborock S4 for 3-4 years now, and it has consistently taken approx. 90 minutes to clean my first floor (approx. 2/3 carpeting, 1/3 hard floors), all on one charge. This past year, I bought an I6+, which took over SIX HOURS to complete my first floor. If no one was home, perhaps I wouldn't care how many times it had to recharge before it finished its task... But I'm retired, with two large, furry beasts (Golden Retrievers), so the vacuum must run daily. Yes, it did a better job of vacuuming my carpeting, but SIX HOURS of total annoyance, every day, was unbearable to both me and my dogs (Needless to say, I returned it!) Because of its more powerful suction, the iRobot customer service told me to expect about 45 minutes of cleaning time on carpeting. That's a best-case number, so expect less. (My house needed the i6+ to recharge 2 additional times, just to do a single, complete cleaning.) The robot vacuum companies seem to have been concentrating all of their effort in the past few years in adding new features, but still have the old batteries and charging systems. They (and you) need to stop saying that battery life is irrelevant, and start using batteries with much greater mAh ratings and charging systems that take much less time to recharge their batteries!
7:40: ew! Wasn't expecting that haha! Thankfully my pets are all well trained. Plus crate training is a great way to avoid all that extra poop lying around. (I've never had a problem with that other than the 1st week I had my husky). Great review. Thanks.
Two things I'd add to this summary. First: iRobot's integration with Apple's ecosystem is awful. It *was* abysmal, but the recent upgrade has made it merely awful. Unlike the Amazon and Google assistants, there's no way to use Siri to tell the robot to clean a specific room, favorite, or clean zone. The only thing you can do is tell it to "clean everywhere," which is virtually useless. The other assistants fully support cleaning specific places, and there is *NO REASON* that iRobot couldn't do the same. Neato does, for example. Some people will say that IFTTT is an alternative, but it is incomplete (you can have it clean rooms but not favorites or clean zones), and it's also too complex to set up for many people. Second: in addition to telling the Braava Jet M6 to start after the robot finishes, it's also worth mentioning that the J7+ and I believe the S9+ can actually share their maps with the mop. So, if you let the vacuum build a map of your house, your mop can inherit that map and all of the associated room names and so on. This is quite useful, and it worked great for me with my J7+ and Braava Jet M6.
@@andrewcbartlett Yeah, that’s definitely one way to approach it. But I have cats who like to “excavate” the litter box with some vigor, so I set up clean zones for those areas. A schedule doesn’t really meet that need. All I want is to be able to say, “Hey Siri, Roomba the litterboxes.” I could do this today with Alexa or Google, but for some reason iRobot does not support Siri at the same level. It’s baffling.
IMHO, even s9+ is outdated already. They need to add atleast lidar, cuz camera navigation is still bad. Also wont work without any light, which is kinda... bad.
I run my S9+ at night frequently. Night lights, a couple dimmed table lamps, and the kitchen under cabinet lights are more than enough for it to navigate.
@@andrewcbartlett Stop fucking replying to comments about how good the j7+ is. Jesus Christ. It doesn't have Lidar, which IS a problem, it's pathetic light doesn't do shit if the lights are off, or dimmed, in a room. It also has to bump into things 3 times to determine it can't get past it. AND, the funniest part - it'll return to THE SAME FUCKIN AREA at least 3 times during it's cleaning cycle. 3 times. How is that not a problem? Or the fact that it can avoid things like hair ties or springs but not chair legs/office chair wheels? How?
@@Dyanosis Calm down! You sound angry?!! The J7 works fine in a dark room, navigates fine if house fully mapped, all robot vacuums use their bumpers, if you want Lidar you bought the wrong product, sounds like more study is required on your part!
Suggestion: list prices near the beginning of the video. I know you list links in the description, but I think price is too important to be left out of the video itself. For the average consumer, I’d argue it is the single most important factor because in product comparisons we think “okay but is that extra feature really worth X jump in price?” Just my opinion though. Love your videos!
The only issue I have with roomba vaccum towers is the fact you need to BUY more bags every time you run out and they aren’t cheap I currently have a shark EZ robot with a self empty bin and i believe shark did the vacuum tower better since you just have to press a button you eject the debris bin and just empty the bin in a trash can. Way more budget friendly than roombas one use bags. I feel a lot of robot manufacturers can take a page out of sharks design. Like 1678 citrus circuits. Once said steal from the best and create the rest.
RV always has opinions and today is no exception. My experience with the Roomba line is with the i8, Costco's version of the i7. I'll start out with the good. Yes, it has a solid feeling build quality and it does a nice job grooming carpet. And that's where the good ends. It is loud and very slow to clean and has navigation so bad it's painful to watch. Thanks to this inefficient navigation and slowness, it is much slower to clean the house than the Roborock and requires a charge when doing it. The clean base bag rarely needs emptying - to the point that I wonder where all the dirt is going. And did I already say it is loud? This will probably be my last Roomba. Not to be entirely negative, thank you, Chris, for your thoughtful reviews.
I wish Roomba would make something that would avoid wool rugs, or a setting that will turn the brushes off when going over the rugs. We love our Roomba, but it's a pain having to pick up the rugs before we start the vacuum.
something that doesn’t make sense to me is how the roomba i3 evo is now able to be set to clean a room(without a camera) but a roomba 980 (with a camera) can’t do the same which is just stupid, hopefully they add an update to it
What about the review of Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra? I have the iRobot s9 but the news now is the Roborock. I’ve been waiting months to see a review from you with the new s7 MaxV ultra to decide if i sell the s9 and buy the Roborock s7 Maxv ultra, and you release an iRobot video that doesn’t release nothing new and is staying behind the competition really bad.
My i3+ has been trash since they added the selective mapping. It'll clean for the entire day and still not get the whole house until it runs out of battery or says it's stuck just sitting in the middle of the room.

@@NoNameFish247 If the area is big enough, you could create a "room" out of the side you don't want it to go to, then exclude that from your vacuuming (kinda manual though...you wouldn't be able to use "Vacuum Everywhere" and prevent it from going into that "room."
Other than that, you'd have to keep it physically blocked off (mine doesn't traverse objects over 1-2" tall, as long as they're heavy enough to not get pushed around), or use the Virtual Wall devices (at $50 each, they're pricey, but you can find compatible aftermarket units for around half the price) -- it seems Roomba *will not* cross a Virtual Wall line, period (AFAIK, the camera models *will* navigate through No-Go Zones if necessary to get to another room, but will not vacuum there).
And if you ever choose to "clean everywhere" it will clean all spaces it can find wall to wall.
there's a J3+?
In 2022, the smart navigation and obstacle detector of my Roomba 581 made in 2007 is me!
It taught me how to tidy up the mess at home. And lock the dog on the porch while the robot does its work :). I wish I had $$$ to buy a wonderful S9, but it won't be anytime soon.
So, 581, you have to last another 15 years. :)
First time venturing into the robot vacuum world - thanks for this in depth run through!
You bet!
S9 Plus the Ultimate Roomba. This will be my next robot vacuum i will buy from irobot. My roomba i3 plus is more than 2 years already and still working great.
That's great that you are happy with the i3.
@@VacuumWars Hello
J7+ is the best, smaller so goes more places, sends you photos of any obstructions found.
I bought the s9+ because of its D form and strongest suction power. 👍🇩🇪
This is the exact type of video i wanted with testing the lineup comparisons and real world data. Ty
We went from the D7 to the J7+, Sooo much better and does link to the mop. Just go for it!
Roborock has you covered. I have and old s5 and also an s6max V, my brother and father both have s7’s and my other brother is holding out for the almost about to release s7maxV ultra, tuely the ultimate robot vac/mop combo
I'm looking at the S7 MaxV ultra now and should have a review this Friday.

I just added the M6 to my i8+. I still miss scooba. Happy to say that the threshold feature works in my house at least.

2. Does the S9 offer any better software options/mapping/scheduling over the J7?
3. Anyone ever review the UofA for the software? Any data privacy issues/concerns?
I'm still a big fan of LIDAR over VSLAM, but that was a great breakdown of differences, thanks for sharing
I also was a huge fan of LIDAR
Had both, a Neato and now a Roomba. Vslam works just aswell. Actually its even better since my Neato sometimes lost itself.
Both systems work, and have worked for me. As long as it does its job

@@VacuumWars are you going to make a review on Friday
Hello there
Do robot vacuums clean better?
Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner.
I couldn't decide which one to get.
So I guess I wonder when the "J9+" will be released, since the J7+ sits in an awkward position where it's better than the S9+ in some aspects and worse in others.
Great review, thanks for taking the time.
Do last years non-EVO i3s get the intelligence update as well, since it seems to be just software-related?
They do.
Great video. Thanks for all the hard work making these videos.
Thank you!
Do you happen to know if i3 and i7 stations are interchangeable? They look identical to me.

Awesome video comparison, thanks so much! I gotta say.. I've never had it happen yet, but having your vacuum run over a big pile of dog pop would be the absolute worst.
I'm looking at the S7 MaxV ultra now and should have a review this Friday.
Hope you are able to do the comparison between omni x1 and s7 maxv :)

Great video, btw 👍

@@VacuumWars I appreciate the reply ! I'd love to see it and I'm sure others would too. Thanks!
I can't thank you enough for this video, this helped me make an informed decision.
I’m waiting for this, too. Hoping they combine the s9 and j7 features in their next release. Then it’ll be worth the upgrade.
@@williamthomas6106 It's still waste. The prevention of dust being released could just as well be accomplished with a filter that you could clean off.
Would you go for the S9 or the J7 ?
the j7 was my top pick just a few months ago. all the reasons are in that video - ua-cam.com/video/lRZLcft2PBc/v-deo.html

@@andrewcbartlett except Lidar, decent mapping, true object avoidance... Half the time it can't even make a straight shot to its base.

Let's Get Ready To Roomba!! Two Roombas go in. One comes out.
This was the most PTSD inducing episode yet. Roomba, the AI leader of the Robot Vacuums, has committed so many war crimes throughout all the Vacuum Wars. Then when there is a moment of peace, people forget all about the sons they lost to those dam vacuums.
Lol
With my Roomba 980 it used to automatically carpet detect and turn on the turbo feature but now i have to manually do it from the app and i’m confused why they’d remove that

We’ve had iRobot 980 since it came out, but find it hard to upgrade to S9 , due to its astronomical cost.
When I bought 980 - it was expensive, but not S9 price expensive .
Tempted to upgrade to j7, but dunno if it has more to offer over 980
The Roborock lineup brought me over the edge to buy a new one :)
Got the S6 MaxV from them, which can mop very well and also avoids objects - which works great.
So where would the i8, from Costco, fall in this lineup?
Same as the i7. It’s similar to the J7 but with none of the AI obstacle avoidance features. Don’t think they had the clean base self-empty either although iRobot has a kit to add it to i7s.
@@GoFastGator thanks so much!
Yes, it did a better job of vacuuming my carpeting, but SIX HOURS of total annoyance, every day, was unbearable to both me and my dogs (Needless to say, I returned it!)
Because of its more powerful suction, the iRobot customer service told me to expect about 45 minutes of cleaning time on carpeting.
Great review.
Thanks!
Can the J7 use the i3+ auto empty bin? My i3 is dead and I would like to only upgrade the robot
no
We set the scheduling on our J7+ to clean certain rooms at the same time everyday, it's so much easier!
No map sharing between the S9+ and the M6. I have both, and they operate on separate maps.
Fact: my cleaner from wish has no Suction because it only has a motor to move
The Roomba combo is out
The J7+ Combo drops today at 4PM EST. Thank you for the heads up!
IMHO, even s9+ is outdated already. They need to add atleast lidar, cuz camera navigation is still bad. Also wont work without any light, which is kinda... bad.
J7+ has none of these problems.
For us self emptying is a must, for self emptying j7+ has the best price and performance. I solved your problem!
@@andrewcbartlett how does telling him that the j7+ is the best, when you didn't list the prices either, "solve his problem"? You people are so dumb.
I had the I3 it was not good I returned it got my 677 back and love it
The only issue I have with roomba vaccum towers is the fact you need to BUY more bags every time you run out and they aren’t cheap I currently have a shark EZ robot with a self empty bin and i believe shark did the vacuum tower better since you just have to press a button you eject the debris bin and just empty the bin in a trash can.
Way more budget friendly than roombas one use bags. I feel a lot of robot manufacturers can take a page out of sharks design. Like 1678 citrus circuits. Once said steal from the best and create the rest.
Is there a robot that cleans everything? I keep seeing these commercials where the robot goes around stuff
I'm sorry to hear that but thanks for chiming in. Thanks for watching too.
Can u please review SAMSUNG BESPOKE JET VACUUM CLEANER in your next video btw big fan
I can't make any promises right now, but thank you for that suggestion.
I wish Roomba would make something that would avoid wool rugs, or a setting that will turn the brushes off when going over the rugs. We love our Roomba, but it's a pain having to pick up the rugs before we start the vacuum.
We understand. The more recent ones have that "no-go zone" capability in the app.
something that doesn’t make sense to me is how the roomba i3 evo is now able to be set to clean a room(without a camera) but a roomba 980 (with a camera) can’t do the same which is just stupid, hopefully they add an update to it
What about the review of Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra? I have the iRobot s9 but the news now is the Roborock. I’ve been waiting months to see a review from you with the new s7 MaxV ultra to decide if i sell the s9 and buy the Roborock s7 Maxv ultra, and you release an iRobot video that doesn’t release nothing new and is staying behind the competition really bad.
I’ve been waiting for it like everyone else!
I'm looking at the S7 MaxV ultra now and should have a review this Friday.
When will you test the roborock 7 Max (no mather what kind of Dock) You Are my goto guy for this stuff 😙
The ROBOROCK S7 MAXV is here!
My i3+ has been trash since they added the selective mapping. It'll clean for the entire day and still not get the whole house until it runs out of battery or says it's stuck just sitting in the middle of the room.
Really! I’m sorry to hear that.
Have you spoken to iRobot support? They’re usually quite helpful with this kind of thing.
