I just recently got the i3 as a “luxury gift” to myself & can honestly say I’m soooooo happy with this purchase!! If you’re like me, besides doing the dishes, vacuuming is up there as my least favorite chore. I’m so relieved it got a good review after watching your video ☺️ i don’t really need the bells and whistles of a top camera. Also, don’t have to worry about cleaning the inside of the machine as much. Also, with the app, it’s times to automatically vacuums while im still in bed, waking up!!
Just got one for Christmas and I’m very impressed. The one thing that isn’t mentioned is how loud cleaning tank is when it sucks out the dust from the Roomba. Literally sounds like a jet engine taking off in your home
Just bought 2 (i3+) vacuums for my birthday gifts to myself, and love them! Mine came with little towers to create your own keep out zones. Haven’t tried those yet, but the vacuum itself did a very good job. We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, kids that consistently visit, so our floors gave it a lot to work with. I would give a solid A-. Impressed!
I bought this exact unit after I watched your video. I was impressed. However when you do your tests, you should test with some kitty litter scattered on the floor. For some reason, mine doesn't quite get all of it up on our tile floor. That may be something you want to test with. Love your videos. Cheers.
I just bought one and before I did I just wanted to watch some reviews. I had no clue people went this in depth into vacuum cleaners but this guy does it really well actually. Good video
I just bought Roomba i3+ and it is my first robot vacuum cleaner. I'm fascinated! I love it! I think i3+ does great even without a camera, just an intelligent little helper. I'm testing it for the second day and for now everything is perfect! ❤️ Thank you for the video 🙏
Seems like one of the best options for most people. As long as you don't require app control / no go zones, then, it's great. I have an older Neato D80. Still works great. Not going to replace it. It has the lidar or laser navigation; but, no app control, nothing. Just push a button. That's how I prefer to use these. I like to do a quick check of my home when I press the button. I do keep it robot safe, but, you never know if you left something out. If my Neato ever dies, this i3 may be the best option. I bet in a year or two it will be low cost and still amazing.
@@the-dbp They are cool. But, I've used robot vacuums almost 20 years. Moved twice in this time. Each move I setup better for robot vacs. I have no need for no go lines or app control. Well, my neato uses magnetic straps, I do have a single strip stuck under my bed to block off the ac plug where I have some cords running behind the bed baseboard. So, it just blocks off like the top foot of the bed (like under where pillows would be). I guess that single spot I could use no go lines.
"14 inch... no robot vacuum can handle hair that long" thank you so much for finally doing this! Please keep it up. It seems like there must be a significant portion of households with somebody with long hair. And even if all robot vacuums handle it badly, I'd still like to know which does best. This finally confirms that self emptying vacuums so far are pointless for me, since I have to detangle them every time I empty the bin anyway. At least my roomba e6 is far less work than my 655 was, due to the new roller design. And of course they're both far better than manually vacuuming. 3:57
I have really really long hair and I shed like I was going bald (I'm not though). My roborock s5 max isn't bad with my hair. I have to clean out the brushes (which is simple to do) every 2 to 3 cleans.
I got mine recently on Black Friday and I couldn’t be happier. It has a bit of trouble right next to the front door because of the rug (it’s a rugable rug with the Velcro bottom and washable top) so it struggles to reach the area between the rug and doorframe, but other than that, it’s been pretty flawless. I was surprised to see the attention it took to the dining room, taking so much effort to get through and around all of the chair legs. Very little space was missed. All and all, very impressed with it this far.
Very informative! Thanks! The sales lady at Costco didn’t know squat. I got the i4+, which, to my understanding, is exactly the same as the i3 model. I asked her about cleaning specific rooms and she assured me that “you can program it”. Oh well. Very happy with my purchase nonetheless. This little guy saves me about 90% of vacuuming effort
Mind that keep out zones are a must Most of the time. It’s not just about not wanting to clean a particular area, it’s because often robots get stuck at the same spots until you go there and get them out, and this features allows avoiding that problem.
Thank you for this video. I just bought a Roomba i3+. It’s my very first Roomba. I’m sooooo excited to see how it works. I ❤️ watching your videos, Nathan. They are very informative as well as entertaining. 😍
@@Spheterix it’s not even worth it. Roombas and the iRobot series sucks ball sacks sorry! They’re over priced and cleaning is not fun! Shark is the best so far. Of course Roborock is king but it’s way too expensive and does not have self emptying bin that’s bagless.
Purchased the Costco only i4. Seems to be basically the same as the i3 but has a larger battery. Can’t wait to put it to work when it arrives next week!
Thank you I watched your video 2 more times ... really enjoyed it because it everything I’ve learned I have chosen this one for my new home. I’ve got 5 dogs and two cats. So I’m very happy to have chosen this one over the i7 knowing I’ve saved about $400. Thanks !
This is a year old but I really appreciate this I’m not really good at tech and I’m super young lol but it made it super easy for me to explain to my mom so she can use. Thank you for helping me get the cheaper one without making me feel like a cheap skate lol .
The nice thing that Roomba's need is the ability to clean close to their base stations. They avoid them like the plague at least till it's time to dock. They don't clean around or very close to the station which is odd. I wonder if they can change that with a firmware/software update, just to allow the vacuum to get closer. Not edge cleaning close, but at least closer. That is my only gripe with my i7+ otherwise I love it, does a fantastic job every time. With 4 cats, it keeps the fur, and dust bunnies down to a minimum, furnace filters last A LOT longer, and you see a lot less dust and fur build up on the air returns. They really are great machines!
This is a great vacuum. I do sometimes wish I had the option to add keep out zones but as long as I plan ahead I can vacuum proof any trouble areas. Luckily we don't really have that many.
iRobot has been rolling out a Smart Mapping update to the i3 this week, you can now clean by room, but no "keep out zones". Still, this is a game changer for the budget minded consumer.
I love my i3, it is my first robot vacuum and I appreciate vacuuming being off my chore list. I run it every weekday and the bin is always full. I see battery life being referred to as not important regarding the recharge and resume and I would argue that it does. My Roomba only has to vacuum about 600-1200 sq ft depending on what doors we close that day and it takes anywhere from 4-6+ hours with the charging time. It usually has to recharge 2-3 times. If you aren't home all day that wouldn't matter but I homeschool so we are almost always here and having the vacuum stop and go all day can get annoying. It was really annoying last year when we were virtual schooling and always had zooms to work around. I love your reviews, I'd love if you would do the Eufy G30 Edge- I'm considering it for my parents and would love one of your in depth reviews on it!
No camera means the i3 can’t do clean zones or clean individual rooms. I didn’t realize it when I bought our i7+ but the ability to clean a specific room has become one of its most important features. I’d even say it’s vital now that we’re rarely out of the house for more than a few minutes a day. I’ve developed a routine of vacuuming rooms when we’re not using them. Or when one of the cats use the box just saying, “Alexa, vacuum the laundry room.” Will never consider a robovac without the ability.
hilti makes some very nice shop vacs and dust extractors. If you are dealing with hazardous dust from grinding, drilling, and sanding you would want a dust extractor. Shop vacs are designed for large debris, construction clean up, and non hazardous dust pickup. A dust extractor will excel at dust pickup, but aren’t designed for anything else. Shop vacs on the other hand can handle a larger variety of material, but are not suitable for large amounts of dust or hazardous dust. They are different tools, and many situations require both a shop vac and dust extractor.
@@Dirty_Bear22 Incorrect. There are classes. And there are prices... and so on. Hilti is pretty much the most expensive. No need to check out reviews in that case. :)
May I ask how you achieved the room 'painting' effects? Did you place a paper disc on top of the vac and merge all the frames? Or did you create a bunch of masks for the furniture + add a tracking point to the robot? Thanks!
I don’t have money to keep buying roombas LOL, I was literally torn between the i7 and the i3+. I originally bought a 675 and it constantly got stuck on my bar stools and in stupid places literally 3-5 times per run. I was debating buying those little $100 things that create no go zones to keep it away from specific areas but I was basically getting to a point where I might as well return the 675 and buy the i7 or i3+ based on cost of the 675 plus 2 sets of the $100 barrier things. I sat at Best Buy for a half hour debating the i3+ or i7, in the end I chose the i7 and it’s great ..I set up the keep out zones but I don’t even think I needed to do that because during the mapping process it did not get stuck once, the 675 struggled with my barstool and I bought the i7 to do a keep out zone in those areas but I don’t even have the keep put zones in that area and it still hasn’t gotten stuck there (amazing to me LOL).. I really want the auto empty but at the same time I don’t want my roomba to be stuck every time I turn it on ..I just can’t swing the $600 current price for the i7+ LOL ..I could wait a couple months and just buy the clean base I guess..you should incorporate some circle metal based stools to your test to see if they get hung up on it LOL
@@VacuumWars Oh by the way I’ve heard the Samsung power but has gotten some updates and it’s a lot better could you maybe think about doing a video on that? It’s supposed to be a lot better with its edge master technique and its navigation overall; it might be worth even more for the money now then it was when you originally reviewed it
With a pointed at the floor sensor, the most likely answer is yes. A pointed down sensor it's like a mouse, it can detect how far you move in X Y axis but not where you are on the pad.
I had issue with the Roomba i3+ not ejecting into the base. So my husband use a air compressor to clean under the bumper and that worked it ejected into the canister on the base. Just wanted to mention that because it would always fill up the Roomba canister would be full on vacuum but stopped ejecting into the base. Best to let your Roomba run the whole house twice a week. The more you let it sit the battery runs lower. Keeping it running more often will keep your battery in shape. I have had mine for a year now.
I’ve had the i3 now for a few weeks and I’m very close to returning it. I have yet to have 1 vacuum session complete on its own. I was gone for the day and left it to clean. Within 1 minute it had gotten “stuck on a cliff”, aka my floor vent. I came home the next day to find it dead with 43 seconds of cleaning under its belt. People online say to cover the sensors with white paper or to take the thing apart and modify the sensors. Now I’m taping paper to a $400+ vacuum. Let’s see how this goes
I've had a couple of "dumb" navigation robot vacuums and now I have a Roborock. There's no way I could go back to the old way. Keep out boxes and no go lines make life so much easier! I love being able to choose what individual rooms get cleaned etc.
For me too. I have two floors and at the moment I have a ilife v5s pro still do great job but sometimes I find stuck in some way. If I decided to upgrade my robot must have no go zones more than automatic been. But 700$ for i7+ is too much.
Does it have the ability to clean multiple rooms? We have a fairly open concept for our living dinning family rooms and kitchen. Would it be able to do all that and also be told to just clean the kitchen?
another difference is the brush setup. i3 has dual extractors like a 960 and 980 but ,looks like on the i7 they went back traditional style on the i7 like their 500 and 600 series where one brush is the extractor and the on top is actually and straight brush for pickup
Have owned one of these for about 3months does a decent job cleaning but l wouldn't recommend buying one if you have pets, water and food dishes have to be picked up or food and water will be everywhere plus if you have any furniture in your house this thing will continually get caught on furniture I'm feeling we wasted alot of money for something that causes more work, just my opinion 😉
Highly curious to know your thoughts on that auto emptying bin for the t8 AIVI. I HAVE THE S5 and have been pondering getting an s6maxV to put downstairs (moving the s5 upstairs). Or adding the t8 aivi and moving the s5 upstairs. The fact the t8 has been your goto is a strong message.
Great review, but I didn’t see anything about how noisy or quiet it is-we are all at home all the time so quiet is key, and how it does when it gets stuck under a couch (am I going to need to rescue it?)
The wife and I really enjoy your reviews and after watching quite a few we decided to buy an iRobot 960, we love it and it does a great job for us at home. We do have one issue with it though and it's with the app. The old version was great we could see the map of our home and where the vacuum was but the app has been updated and we think that it's actually gone backwards, we can no longer see the map of our home or where the robot is if it runs out of battery. I have tried to contact iRobot about it but had no response. Have you noticed this with your 960 and is there anything we can do? Keep up the great videos. Neil.
I have always wanted a smart robot vacuum for the house I live in because it a big one and dumb nav vacs cane do the job.. when I found this for only 550 at Best Buy I was really excited to see it had a automatic emty bin on it for only 550. This seems like a very cool vacuum and I’m really excited to see what this thing can do. (Soz for the long comment)
seems like if it can do recharge and resume and basic maps, it should in theory be able to support keep out zones? Also slightly confused why my 966 doesn’t - when it provides maps also. Its a shame as my next robot vac needs keep out zones so thats an expensive bullet point for me.
thanks for the review, it's great as always, but i just want to make sure, it has no go zones but what about room mapping when u can ask it to clean specific rooms at different times??
Hi! I'm considering the i3+ - but one thing I can't really find any info on is how it handles rug tassels. Do you have any idea how it does with those? Do they get tangled up in the rollers? Thank you!!
@@VacuumWars I don't have a clue. The company is based in Spain, I don't know if they ship to US, however they state that their latest models got 10000pa and can do a 4 in 1 tasks. I recently bought the Roborock S5 Max (and I am happy with it) after seeing some reviews here in Vacuum Wars, however I am aiming to the IA model of Cecotec as their robot specs seems to be better than Roborock or even iRobot. The price of their robots is not clear, as they are always doing promotions, would be nice if they send their robots for testers to test and review, as I found few reviews and only in Spanish.

Thank you so much for this review!
excellent review brother; you sold me on this vacuum I had to snag it up especially at $200 off! Have a blessed new year 🙌
Yay, finally I've been waiting for this video
Glad to help! Thank you for watching!
What happens if you stop it then pick it up and move it like 5 feet? Will it loose all of its map progress?
I just moved into an apartment and someone threw one of these out next to the dumpster. So far, it works great!
This video kicked some major butt my man! thanks for making it
I’ve had the i3 now for a few weeks and I’m very close to returning it.
I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it works out well for you.
oh my god, you are so thorough, amazing.
Wow, thank you!
Very detailed review
Thank you !
How about noice level?
Is Roomba I3 still loud like older versions of Roomba?
I've had a couple of "dumb" navigation robot vacuums and now I have a Roborock. There's no way I could go back to the old way. Keep out boxes and no go lines make life so much easier! I love being able to choose what individual rooms get cleaned etc.
Roborock what else?
@@TP-zz6ud they were cheaper, generic models.
I kinda wish the auto disposal bins had an optional bagless insert that you could reuse over and over again to keep cost lower.
I am all for the bags, that way you don’t have to clean or while the vin. Just throw away the bag.
A lack of no-go zones is a deal breaker for us, unfortunately.
For me too. I have two floors and at the moment I have a ilife v5s pro still do great job but sometimes I find stuck in some way.
If I decided to upgrade my robot must have no go zones more than automatic been.
But 700$ for i7+ is too much.
I think we are all exited about a new product from irobot. Could we not have more videos of it and how it compares to others?
I've been SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!
Yay! Glad to help!
As of February 2022, the Roomba i3 supports the same mapping capabilities as the i7 and s9. iRobot had an software update.
Would you please review the new Bissell Spin Wave 3115 and talk about the diff in the irobot 675 vs the 692 Amazon sold on prime day ?
I wish i3+ would be released in japan as soon as possible...
Great review! Thanks :) I haven't found i3 in our Brazilian shop :(
Thanks, and sorry to hear that!
I need one that brings me a beer👍
Idea: could you turn on creating closed captions by viewers? Id like to translate what youre saying so I can play it to my friends :)

Robot Vacuums you should review:
-Bissel IconPet Robot Vacuum
-Neabot NoMo
-ROBOROCK s4 max
-Shark AI
I hope you review these in the Future! 😀
Thank you for the suggestions - I'm noting them now!
Does it have the ability to clean multiple rooms? We have a fairly open concept for our living dinning family rooms and kitchen. Would it be able to do all that and also be told to just clean the kitchen?
Is this a good model for hardwood floors and especially picking up dog hair?
i think so.
@@VacuumWars if you had to choose would you go i3 or i7? They are selling the i7 for $599 on the IRobot website. I appreciate your feedback.
I haven't seen any comparisons or reviews on the old roomba 400 series on this channel yet
Great review a always. What are the differences between i3 and i4?
another difference is the brush setup. i3 has dual extractors like a 960 and 980 but ,looks like on the i7 they went back traditional style on the i7 like their 500 and 600 series where one brush is the extractor and the on top is actually and straight brush for pickup
Can you test these on different floor surfaces please and thanks?
I have to run the bot 3 times a week for it to work with my two cats. But if I do that it’s perfect.
@@VacuumWars I feel you, I have white floors and three basset hounds...it’s a daily affair here. The s5 is full every day.
Congrats on your longest outro! :D
Thanks! 😄
Great review, but I didn’t see anything about how noisy or quiet it is-we are all at home all the time so quiet is key, and how it does when it gets stuck under a couch (am I going to need to rescue it?)
Great review, do you think it would be good to use on tile floors?
I need your help buddy Roomba i3 or Shark IQ? Thanks for the good content!!! 👋😎
This is what I'm struggling to decide.
@@ashley6040 Yes, my mom has the Shark IQ and she loves it but right now they’re so close in price that is hard to decide 😬
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Thank you - Perfect
Glad it helped!
Neil.
Great review! Very helpful :)
Glad you think so!
3:18 those new balances pretty heat 🔥
My Roomba 960 has died and I have tile floors so I'm not sure if I should stay with iRobot or go with another brand.
thanks for the review, it's great as always, but i just want to make sure, it has no go zones but what about room mapping when u can ask it to clean specific rooms at different times??
Thanks!!
You bet!
Thx for the review !!!!
You bet!
I don't mean to be that guy, but do you plan to review the new cordless stick vacuum from Miele?
Hi! I'm considering the i3+ - but one thing I can't really find any info on is how it handles rug tassels. Do you have any idea how it does with those? Do they get tangled up in the rollers? Thank you!!
What did you get for a suction measurement for the i3+ ? Did you measure in pa?
If I don't need the auto-empty bin, should I get the i3 or the 960/980?
@Vacuum Wars, when will you test a Cecotec Conga?
Is it for sale in the US?
Since the i3 does not have the camera, does it still need lights on?
Mine works well with lights off
