Saw Budgie (BS & TB ) at my local pub in Bury ( Lancs) about 8 years ago. They were fantastic. Breadfan was the encore and I couldn't hear for days. Bouncing in front of them like a teenager. The Landlord apparently knew BS. One of my mates who camealong was a soul boy, but we didn't tell him who Budgie were. He was speechless. Grew up with them in the 70s and they were always massively underrated. One of my best music memories

    Breadfan
    Open up your mind
    Open up your purse
    Open up your vault
    Never, never gonna lose it
    Breadfan
    Take it all away
    Never give an inch
    Gotta make a mint
    Gotta make me a million
    Breadfan
    You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool
    Seagull
    Give it all away
    Stay a bird
    Stay a man
    Stay a ghost
    Stay what you wanna be
    Loser
    Give it all away
    Never stay with the winner
    With the man
    With all the filthy money
    Come on
    Keep it on the side
    With a ride
On a record on the top
If you're gonna be a bad boy
    Breadfan
    You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool
    Seagull
    Give it all away
    Stay a bird
    Stay a man
    Stay a ghost
    Stay what you wanna be
    Breadfan
    Open up your mind
    Open up your purse
    Open up your bones
    Never, never gonna lose it
    Breadfan
    Take it all away
    Never give an inch
    Gotta make a mint
    Gotta make me a million
    Breadfan
    You got it wrong
Some long time friend's gonna lose it
In the end who's a fool
    Seagull
    Give it all away
    Stay a bird
    Stay a man
    Stay a ghost
    Stay what you wanna be
    Mommy, where's Fluffy?

    • @irushforth

"Mommy, where's Fluffy?" was supposed to be the intro to Metallica's cover of The Prince, which followed after Breadfan on the Harvester of Sorrow single. But they accidentally put the split in the track counter in the wrong place.

Also, you've missed out the lyrics from the breakdown section (which Metallica didn't sing). Ditto the repeat of the second verse. So this is clearly just a copy & paste job from a Metallica lyric website.

Hearing the sound of the pick scraping the strings makes me miss the days before everything became over produced and digitally cleaned up,the recordings bands put out today sound way to sterile , you can almost feel the sweat that comes from the older recordings .

Words can't describe the enormous influence this little known Welsh heavy metal (actually hard rock more than metal) band had on music in the 90's and beyond. I had the privilege of seeing them play live. Nothing artificial. They are the real deal, and while this is their best known song, their anthology is solid and worth a listen.

I'm going to perfectly honest, just glancing through the comments here I see a bunch of fans enjoying the song and reminiscing about when they first heard it, and I feel kinda dirty for having only heard of this song through the game Brutal Legend.

With a record on the top,
If you're gonna be a bad boy.
    Breadfan,
    Finger in the pie,
    In the sky,
Put a guinea on the nose,
    Of a gee gee.
    Come on,

    'Cause I don't need it.
Don't you feel it in your veins?
All the money in this world,
    And I don't need it
    Breadfan,
    Open up your mind,
    Open up your purse,
Never, never, never gonna lose it.

As my favorite Budgie song, Breadfan is amazing. This song is fun to listen and cover with guitar, bass guitar, drums and etc. They may be an underrated band, but that doesn't change the fact that Budgie is awesome and deserve both credit and recognition.
