Budgie was huge in Poland. I remember my 80s high school time home parties. Budgie and alcohol were always there. So refreshing, unique, new experiences in those grey times. We were intoxicated by their music. Memories for life and soundtrack of my young years. RIP Burke Shelley.

Today, June the 21st, I finally brought home my very first Budgie record. I discovered this band earlier this year and they quickly became one of my favourites. This record travelled all the way from England to southern Italy. Surely a 2nd Budgie record will follow
this song is so emotional, especially the last verse...it really sums up those feelings of reflection and taking those close to you for granted...until they are gone...
I met these guys in Cardiff capital Hotel in 95. It was the 25years reunion. All the band were there past and present. They were a great bunch of down to earth lads doing what they love doing. Always a big fan of this great band.
interesting, did they tour the USA before 1976? I find it interesting the timing because shortly after Judas Priest releases the album Point of Entry... it sounds like they had some influence from Budgie, specially from the song "Pyramids" from 1973
"Budgie" is The Soundtrack of my youth! This song, "Parents" is a Masterpiece! Thank you for uploading! Cheers! From the precious Tampa Bay, Florida! 🎸🎸🎸👋👍
słuchałem to z kumplami w latach 70 tych.
How I love this song. It had such an impact on me when I first heard it many years ago, and I still love it just as much today. I love the fade out ending where the guitars are imitating gulls squawking, which is because they heard gulls all the time in their native coastal home in Wales.
Born in 1969, got to know them through this CD in 1986 in Korea where few people knew Budgie at the time, saw them at London Astoria in 2003, and still listening in 2020...
Got introduced to this track by a guy I met at work a few months back and I'm so glad he got me into this, immediately into my top 10 songs ever, can't not listen to this beautiful track don't need to be from the era to appreciate genius
Seems I'm not alone, having listened to rock music for over 40 years and never heard of Budgie until recently. What a talented band and excellent song! They definitely should be more popular than they were. I never liked the radio because they played the same stuff over and over and over.....
Hidden gems over shadowed by Led Zeppelin,The WHO, The Rolling Stones, and Black Sabbath unfortunately.. but those of us the got turned on to them found Billy Thorpe and many others.. keep listening.. rock is eternal..
Leider. For the english Guys and Ladies: THis song speaks for itself really. The love for the parents we really understand is, when they are dead ! Thx for upload.
I'm Polish-Australian IMHO Parents is the best ever written and sang song in the rock history. In fact I am Polish and this kind of music is giving incredible emotional thrill to Slavic soul. 40 years listening and never bored. It's incredible!!!!!!.

Tears in my eyes listening to this and reading the comments. Discovered Budgie when they supported Ozzy on Blizzard of Oz tour 1982 I think. Saw them in Coventry with schoolmates. Amazing band and songs, still so good now. God bless Burke and rest of the band, and all listening in 2020!
My favourite song from that awesome band. The seagulls echoing the rythm of the solo at the end is just something... so amazing! give me the chills and reminds me why I love rock and roll so much. What a band dudes, what a band.
This song blew my mind and Tony Bourges guitar work was a huge part of that; at a time I was drowning myself in guitar players, he jumped into my Top 3, and stayed there 💕 He's an amazing guitar player
Ok, he is a good guitar player, I’ll give him that.. But the most underrated ever? That dubious title only applies to one man.. His name is Frank Marino.
One of the greatest bands of that era. They influenced so many well known bands of today. So versatile and the lead guitarist, Shelly Bourg, I think his name is...absolutely brilliant.
i first heard this track in the summer of 1976 in a friends car coming back from a Queen gig in Edinburgh i had never heard of Budgie untill then. I can remember being speachless after hearing it...... one of the most astonishing bits of music i have ever heard then and now. Thanks Burke what a talent you are.
so hey, i got into budgie around 9 months ago when my friend came to and asked if i'd ever heard of them, i said no so he show's me the song breadfan, and fuck me! i couldn't believe that this band wasn't really known, they're now one of my favourite bands and i just bought 3 of the albums on vinyl and the 1973-1975 mca cd box set and i'm fucking ecstatic, i need to find more underappreciated bands like this to add to my collection!
When I was a little boy They would say to me Don't go in the world and play It's bad company All they had was child and faith Let him grow and let him wait Just to find out what it was to be free But now I'm over twenty one Growing up I've had my fun And I know it's got to be Baby lying in a womb Are you free or in a tomb Let me in, I feel I want to cry. Oh the road is long Oh the road is long Come on back, back. Wash your hands and up to bed Mind your manners Or you're dead Mind the cars cos you've got school on Monday Put my trust in God Who is he I know not what Something mummy said one Sunday. Maybe love is life but life is not It's something I need plenty of. Oh! I wish I'd died and never lived a day. Now there's no one near me now Tell me what to do and how Take me back and sing my cares away. Take me let me sing my cares away Oh! the road is there Oh that road is there Come on back, back. Oh! I'm empty now Rainy pain has left me now. Think of what my people used to say. Black is black and white is white Which to choose and which is right Guide me to a place where I can stay. Wrap me up and keep me warm Hide myself far from the storm Sleep and love will keep my mind at rest. Only now I realise what my parents had to try. Love you all and keep you all my life. Oh that road is there Oh the road is there Come on back, back

z taką muzyką się rodzić,z taką umierać.Byli ze mną w trudnych, przełomowych chwilach, dzisiaj towarzyszą mi zawsze w chwilach zwątpienia.

Ok,słucham dziś,słucham jutro, będę słuchać ich zawsze.
The Budgie track... Tony Bourge must be the greatest unsung guitar player of all time.
Just perfection, this is real music
Pozdrowionka zza "wielkiej wody".
R.I.P.
Burke Shelley
☮️🙏
Rest in peace Burke Shelley. Thanks for all the great songs and your time in Budgie.
Love how the guitars sound like birds...Budgie's if you will.
I was lucky to hear them in early 70ties... Still do cannot understand why the world did not recognized them... Masterpiece, will never get old
Underrated as hell.
this song is so emotional, especially the last verse...it really sums up those feelings of reflection and taking those close to you for granted...until they are gone...
These guys are so underrated. So proud to be Welsh.
so are the manic street preachers. Different but great.
Too right butt. Should have outsold Sabbath zeppelin and purple
Alright butt. Fully agree.
I met these guys in Cardiff capital Hotel in 95. It was the 25years reunion. All the band were there past and present. They were a great bunch of down to earth lads doing what they love doing. Always a big fan of this great band.
Great Welsh band 🏴
Never forgot Budgie , my first concert back in 76 San Antonio TX. What a trip. Brings back cool memories. Man What a beautiful song.
Go SA
interesting, did they tour the USA before 1976? I find it interesting the timing because shortly after Judas Priest releases the album Point of Entry... it sounds like they had some influence from Budgie, specially from the song "Pyramids" from 1973
Where did they perform at?
Thanks, Joe Anthony

I would love to hear Shirley Bassey sing this ;)
One of the greatest Budgie track what they ever made. Real awesome and mind blowing. Good job.
Welsh band from Cardiff,I grew up hearing this band,Alex Harvey Band etc etc
Awesome still to this day.Thank you for the share.
I can't quit listening to this song. RIP Burke Shelley 🙏
"Budgie" is The Soundtrack of my youth! This song, "Parents" is a Masterpiece! Thank you for uploading! Cheers! From the precious Tampa Bay, Florida! 🎸🎸🎸👋👍
słuchałem to z kumplami w latach 70 tych.
I've listened to Budgie from the very beginning. Love their music. They really should have been recognized world wide. They're terribly underrated.
Masterpiece
How I love this song. It had such an impact on me when I first heard it many years ago, and I still love it just as much today. I love the fade out ending where the guitars are imitating gulls squawking, which is because they heard gulls all the time in their native coastal home in Wales.
Born in 1969, got to know them through this CD in 1986 in Korea where few people knew Budgie at the time, saw them at London Astoria in 2003, and still listening in 2020...
Wspaniały zespół ,z moich młodych lat 70.
R.I.P Burke Shelley, I hope his spirit is well, wherever he is.
RIP Burke. Listening to this, my favourite Budgie song and remembering how truly great this band was.

I'm 23. My Mum's friend worked for the drummer. Inspired me to listen. Makes me proud to be Welsh so amazing.
I feel the same. Altough my grandfather was Hungarian but I am Polish.
aiwaplatz też jestem Polką :-) Polacy słuchali kiedyś dobrej muzyki, i nadal wielu z nich słucha :-)
Paweł Ciszak
pozdrowlienia from your slawic brother- cheers
I discovered Budgie when I was 15 way back in 1980. I still listen to them on a weekly basis, can't get enough of them,
To ON pokazuje nam muzykę , ON nam ja tłumaczy , ON nas nia zachwyca. Trzech jest juz pod wrażeniem. Panie Piotrze duzo zdrowia.
No ale niestety się zesrało. Szkoda minimaxa.
1976 manchester, blown away, best couple of quid i ever spent
My favourite song from that awesome band. The seagulls echoing the rythm of the solo at the end is just something... so amazing! give me the chills and reminds me why I love rock and roll so much. What a band dudes, what a band.
Tony Bourge! One of the most underrated rock guitarists ever!
Agreed. I love his overdubbed guitars at the end which are intentionally imitating gulls squawking.
This song blew my mind and Tony Bourges guitar work was a huge part of that; at a time I was drowning myself in guitar players, he jumped into my Top 3, and stayed there 💕
He's an amazing guitar player
I totally agree budgie are underrated what a band and brilliant live
He has the gift for sure, like Blackmore.
Ok, he is a good guitar player, I’ll give him that.. But the most underrated ever? That dubious title only applies to one man.. His name is Frank Marino.
Best Rock band that most people have never heard of..
One of the greatest bands of that era. They influenced so many well known bands of today. So versatile and the lead guitarist, Shelly Bourg, I think his name is...absolutely brilliant.
Tony Bourge
☮️
Tony Bourge's guitar is something really special on this
i first heard this track in the summer of 1976 in a friends car coming back from a Queen gig in Edinburgh i had never heard of Budgie untill then.
Am I the only one who fells a little sorrow in the heart when listen this song?
+Melchi Zedeq No you aren't
+Shore Drift Reminds me of my lost youth
Melchi Zedeq that's the magic of the song
So do I!
heartbreaking as fuck
When I was a little boy
They would say to me
Don't go in the world and play
It's bad company
All they had was child and faith
Let him grow and let him wait
Just to find out what it was to be free
But now I'm over twenty one
Growing up I've had my fun
And I know it's got to be
Baby lying in a womb
Are you free or in a tomb
Let me in,
I feel I want to cry.
Oh the road is long
Oh the road is long
Come on back, back.
Wash your hands and up to bed
Mind your manners
Or you're dead
Mind the cars cos you've got school on Monday
Put my trust in God
Who is he I know not what
Something mummy said one Sunday.
Maybe love is life but life is not
It's something I need plenty of.
Oh! I wish I'd died and never lived a day.
Now there's no one near me now
Tell me what to do and how
Take me back and sing my cares away.
Take me let me sing my cares away
Oh! the road is there
Oh that road is there
Come on back, back.
Oh! I'm empty now
Rainy pain has left me now.
Think of what my people used to say.
Black is black and white is white
Which to choose and which is right
Guide me to a place where I can stay.
Wrap me up and keep me warm
Hide myself far from the storm
Sleep and love will keep my mind at rest.
Only now I realise what my parents had to try.
Love you all and keep you all my life.
Oh that road is there
Oh the road is there
Come on back, back
thank you
lol, you also posted lyrics on a soen video.
wheres the rest of the lyrics ! :-(
Ian Robertson
I think they are ok now.:)
Thank you :-) x
This song put my daughter to sleep, so many sleepless nights it brings a tear to my eye rembering
This is undoubtedly the greatest work of this band
I shed a tear listening to this song.
i wish i could, i want to cry but i can't
every single time...........
Ernest, the only thing sadder than someone who cries easily is someone who cannot cry at all.
why
I do...everytime!
Timeless.
kol 7omos lol
This song along with "Young is a world" sure influenced "Run of the mill"
How great is this band? What a gorgeous epic masterpiece this song is. So sad it’s one that has to be discovered decades later.
