There's not room for two William Shatners, piggybacking off Betty White's line from the roast: Oh Bill. You were supposed to explore the galaxy, not fill it.

Taking Kirk's form also keep McCoy from interfering, or in case his crew beams down. Just like the Klingons who couldn't tell who was who. (Though, really, if they looked down, the real Kirk still had leg irons on!) :)
@@benhamilton1156 Hmm, you think when she turned into Kirk her ankles got narrower? Or was that in an earlier scene? I listen to the soundtrack of this movie almost daily but haven't seen it in probably 10 years lol.
Mike Gallant Thanks. He should’ve said “their” instead of “his” even if he was one of them. I had a thought General Chang was involved the whole time as well like as if he wanted to kill Captain Kirk the moment he first met him.
@@SantomPh So then, that “he” the one eye warden was referring was General Chang. The other conspirators just decided to join forces with him. I knew he was involved with wanting Captain Kirk dead. I figured the way Chang first talked to Kirk on the Enterprise that he was listed as one of the names of the conspirators.
I read somewhere recently that Marta messed up when she pointed upwards at the real Kirk. Since Marta's true form (we assume it was, anyways) was much shorter than Kirk's, she was used to looking up at him, so that was her character's mistake when she forgot that she was the same size as Kirk when she shapeshifted into his form.
Which one said "your friends are late?" For years I thought it was Marta-Kirk in reference to the Enterprise -- but now I wonder if it was Kirk-Kirk saying the ambush party was late. Oh my head hurts.
What would TOS Kirk have thought of goofy older Kirk, I wonder? Shatner's approach to the role changed dramatically over the years, and I understand people change, but really there isn't much of the original Kirk left in that performance and that's very unrealistic.
Kirk's acting season one and two was decent, Kirk season three was beyond ludicrous and over the top. But anyway, Kirk and Spock TOS still the stuff of legend.
When I saw this in the theater the shadow cast on the wall by one of the Kirks when you first see them made it seem like bad split screen. Just at first.
I appreciate how Martia has the same garbage fighting style as Kirk (as played by Shatner; Chris Pine can actually throw a punch, TBD on Paul Wesley). Talk about setting up a fair fight!

actually, the weird part is in all of her other forms Marta kept her female voice but when she becomes kirk she has his voice
The real Kirk also still had the shackles on his legs. The shape shifter slipped out of her's earlier in the movie.

Best line ever in a Trek movie.
Best thing you could ever say to yourself if the situation ever arises 😂
My god...the Shatner levels are off the charts!

love that beaming sound when they get back to the enterprise
Bones makes a lovely snow angel.
Bones is a good guy, he loves and hates Kirk and Spock. He will rescue both.
- "I can't believe I kissed you."
- "Must have been your lifelong ambition!"
That seems sort of like an inside joke
Shatner has a big ego, very vain
I am convinced the first line was the shapeshifter, and the retort was Kirk.
The Rifftrax response to that was, "Man, he can't even out-act himself!"
Wonderfully hammy
