Got my 2024 1000. I’m super excited to upgrade it. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for watching. The P 1000 is a great machine. BTW, you can get camo seat covers at camocover dot net. Thanks for watching
Your one of the video’s that I watched that helped me choose the 1000 over the 700. I’ve had mine two month’s now, sure love it.
Awesome. Thanks for watching. We love our 1000. It's a beast. Did you get the 3 seater or the 5 seater?
Got the 700-4...now I feel like who my wife quoted, "I should've gone bigger."
@@R_Arizona where I live, the dealer told me they sell the 1000’s over the 700’s by about 20 to 1.
Best comparison out there.
Thanks. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Really pretty color!
Be sure to pop the seat up on the 1000. Under my 1000 LE there is a storage area installed. Makes it nice extra area
We installed the aftermarket under-seat storage on our 1000. I made a separate video about that. But it gets incredibly hot. Next we are installing an under-seat cooling fan. Thanks for the comment.
you did amazing review my friend!!! we looking to purchase a new pioneer, honda is my first choice because of honda reliability and no belt.
My primary reason to buy the pioneer was that it had a drive shaft instead of a belt or chain. You won't be disappointed. It's a great machine.
Ditto on the Honda reliability. Had a 70cc mini bike years ago and it ran forever. Agree with gears over a belt and this video helped seal the deal on my search.
I have also read to buy the bed liner so the seats dont get all messed up
I don't have a bed liner, but I have purchased three sets of seat covers, -- and they are all trash. NO one sells a decent set of seat covers, so I am having a set custom made. Most of the after-market seat covers are not form fitting and they are cheaply made with poor quality materials and thin draw strings. I bought some decent material and designed some myself and an upholstery shop is sewing them for me. We carry dogs occasionally and so far my seats have not gotten torn, but it's just a matter of time. A genuine Honda replacement seat is about $300 from a dealer. The seats you can buy on Amazon or the side by side websites claim that they are Honda, but they are NOT. We have bought two of them and sent both back because they have to be modified to fit the Pioneers correctly.
🏆🏆🏆👍🙏
Thank you for sharing.
Good stuff! Just got a 700-4 a few days ago and I'm thinking of putting a light set-up on it very similar to yours. Did you put a second battery in yours or just run everything to the one you already have? This is my first sxs and I've been told run my accessories off of a separate battery especially because these Honda transmissions can be kinda finicky about voltage.
I have only one battery. I've run both front and rear LED lights off the main battery for about 6 weeks with no problems. But I'm getting another battery and isolator package because I'm adding a winch. The 700 doesn't have a dedicated second battery space but it's possible to add one. You just have to horseshoe it in. The 1000 has a second battery space built in.
I haven't heard of any transmission problems. We have three pioneers and haven't ever had a problem. But I'm obsessive about maintenance.
I asked a friend about transmission problems and he said his locked one time but it was from an overheating condition. I'm also adding a second cooling fan.
@@MikeM100 I look forward to another good video!
Great vid....Just got a ‘21 700-4D .. will definitely use a few of your ad ons.
Did I understand that your ‘18 700 goes 45 mph? ... mine tops out around 35.... am I doin something wrong??
My 2018/700 tops out at 43mph, with 1 rider, half tank of gas and windshield off. Additional weight and windshield will definitely slow it down. The 1000 will do 70 fully loaded with gas and 2 riders and a windshield.
Thanks for commenting. I will do another video in a few days specifically discussing the speed.
Just another thought on the speed of the 2018 pioneer 700 -- the tires greatly affect the speed. My tires are the semi-knobby tires. My friend has slicker tires and his 2019/700 is faster than mine.
@@MikeM100 good info, thanks ... I’ll definitely experiment. My first Pioneer so all this is new to me.
Mike, on your 1000 does it come standard with skid plates that cover the entire undercarriage?
The skid plate covers a lot of it, there are areas that are intentionally left open for heat dissipation. I had some skid plates custom made to completely line the underside of my 1000 and the mechanic at my local dealer in Brookhaven, MS said to take them off because they keep in too much of the heat and will seriously damage the engine. He said they had a customer come in one time, whose engine had pretty much melted together because of a heat bloom after they tried to make it water proof on the underside. We added a cooling fan and I put on some stick stoppers, which do a great job.
Can't decide between the two..Called my dealer and he said 6 months to 1 year wait list on both vehicles..You can't find one anywhere right now..I am also looking at Wolverine from Yamaha 850
I love my 700, but want to upgrade to the 1000 because it has more power and runs smoother. There are a few Pioneers scattered around the country. You will have better luck finding a used one. I put a $1000 deposit on a 2022 Pioneer 1000 about 6 months ago with my local dealer and still waiting. They have a long waiting list. The wolverine is a good one. I would recommend sticking with the brand names. I bought one of the new brands a few months ago and sold it after 6 weeks. Spare parts are a LOT harder to find for the newer brands.
Have you had any problems with the 700-4 in lack of power on the trail if will just be me my wife and kids I just put a deposit down on one waiting for it to come in
I have carried 4 people numerous times up and down hills and through mud, and have had no problems. It's a great machine. Plenty of power. But it's only got 1 cylinder. If you want extra power them go with the 1000. I would definitely buy the 700-4 again.
@@MikeM100 thank you that's all I needed to know. I appreciate it very much.
got the 700-4...now I feel like who my wife quoted, "I should've gone bigger."
In the current market you can probably sell it for more than you paid.
Did you modify the box lift so that it had the ability to tilt with 180lbs in it? Mine will not lift on its own with minimal weight in in the box.
When my pioneer was new it would lift with about 200 lbs in it. Not anymore. The lift springs lost that power after about 6 months My dealer said they could install a lift kit for $500. I'm thinking about building one myself.
Your comment got me curious about the list capacity so I called my dealer. They said there is no guarantee that it will lift with anything in the bed. The spring in only expected to lift the bed. It's just the luck of the draw as to whether or not it will lift with something in the bed.
@@MikeM100 How did you close the box when it was new. Must have been difficult if it could lift that much weight ?I suppose if the weight is right by the tailgate it wouldn’t take to much leverage?
@@MikeM100 That is what I have experienced. That is why I was wondering if you had some sort of modification to achieve that amount of lift capacity. Thanks for your follow up.
Yes. When I got the pioneer new it was very difficult to close the bed and I had to crawl inside it to force it to latch. That's how I knew it would hold me up. I assumed all of them were like that.
The seating position hurt my back when I rode my Honda Pioneer
Sidebyside.com used to sell replacement seats. But they were so expensive no one bought them. My dealer had them for $400, and that's way more than I would spend.
The Honda pioneer 700 4 is by far the loudest at full throttle side by side I’ve ever been on mine is a 2018 same as first model but if you don’t mind the noise it’s a pretty good machine. If I could do it all over again I would have bought a Roxor.
You speak the truth. The Pioneer 1000 is much quieter. But I don't really mind the noise because it has the power.
@@MikeM100 are there any after market mufflers ?? seems to me it would be an easy fix. (but what the heck do i know??!! lol)
I have tried a couple of mufflers, but none of them reduce the noise by a sizeable amount. I've been working on a video on that. I actually like the sound, so it hasn't been a bit irritation for me. I called my Honda dealer to get a muffler recommendation and they said some of the after-market mufflers may affect the engine compression, which could possibly void the warranty. So they don't sell mufflers. The engine heat is really more of an irritation than the sound. These machines have the power, but they also have the heat. We're installing an engine fan on our 1000.
Am I going to regret getting the 700 instead of the 1000? My wife is giving me a limit because we need to buy one to plow with and occasionally go down the utv trails here. A lot of utv legal streets here in Iowa.
I'm very happy with my 700. It's more narrow than then 1000, which helps when going down narrow trails. The 1000 is quieter and a lot stronger and faster because it has two cylinders. But it has the same transmission. The 1000 also gets a lot hotter in the summer. If you add a winch and light bars, then you need to add a second battery. The 1000 has a spot under the hood that is designed to hold a second battery, and the 700 does not. The 1000 will pull more weight. If you are on streets a lot, you may want to get a set of radial tires. Accessories are about the same price for both vehicles. The 1000 will comfortably hold 3 people in the front seat. The 700 only holds two. I ordered another 1000 that will hopefully be here in a couple of months. We pull trailers with materials and equipment around the farm, so I need to the extra towing capacity. Thanks for commenting and watching.
@@MikeM100 I thought the 700 had a a 3 speed DCT Transmission and the 1,000 had a 6 speed DCT.
Yeah, you're right. They have the same gear-to-power ratio, but the 1000 has more gears in both forward and reverse. Also, I forgot that our 1000 has a 2 ton tow capacity and the 700-4 is rated for only 1.5 tons. For most of what we do on the farm, the 700-4 is plenty of machine.
@@stevenyoung3360 The Pioneer 700 has a 3 speed automatic with Torque converter very similar to a car, except the converter does not have a lockup. The model with manual just holds the gear. If you are plowing snow, pulling a trailer around, it works great. The 700's top speed is only 43 MPH. It does good on trails, but is far from a sport machine. In the summer it can get a little hot as the engine is under the seat but not that bad, It can get loud from engine noise at full speed. Adding a roof slightly magnifies the engine noise.
@@XJ550CAFE thanks much. I wasn't even able to get one where I am because all of the new utv dealers are out of stock of everything right now. I bought a used 2017 can am renegade to plow with temporarily.
I am 6.2 tall will the Honda pioneer 700 front divers seat work for me?
Yes. There's plenty of height in it. My brother is 6.1 and it fits him fine
@@MikeM100 How would that same size person fit in the rear?
I'm 6ft and there is plenty of room in the back seat for me. It may be a little tight for someone over 6ft.
The 1000 got ripped on the Full Box Frame! Wtf
Mais é lindo.
Yep.
was the 1000 as loud as the 700?
No. The 1000 is quieter and smoother. I'm uploading a video on the next day or two that shows a sound comparison, done with two sound meter apps on the phone.
Can you accidentally hit the dump lever when riding and dump your kids out accidentally??
That's funny. I never have. The weight of the kids should keep it down.
The center of gravity of the back is front of the beds pivot point.
the dump lever is non functional when the seats are down according to maybe 'wranglestar's" video
Yes. That's true. I was busy at work when I replied last time and wasn't thinking about that.
Or not so accidentally!
i wish that clearly tough windshield wasn't almost $200 more now
It's crazy how much the prices have changed in the last 18 months. If you have to pay $400 or more you might as well just buy an original Honda windshield.
The cheaper windshields start to turn milky white and weaken a lot after a year in the sun. Better to pay more for something that lasts several years.
Absolutely...I had a golf cart with a cheaper windshield that turned milky and it drove me nuts
Half windshield or full windshield? Which is better?
Full
What mount did you use for your Nilight bar?
Niliight sells a universal mount kit on Amazon. I put an aluminum strip on the underside of the roof to provide extra strength for it.
@@MikeM100 Sweet, thankyou
Hi Mike
Hi.
Not sure why Honda bothers making a 700 thumper engine for something that heavy. Thats asking a lot from a single cylinder, Just seems like a waste. Right now it seems to be the only thing dealers have in stock.
Even with only a single cylinder, it has excellent performance. It has two spark plugs for redundancy and somehow they get more power out of it. I'm very satisfied with mine.
Been looking for a 1000-5 for weeks. Randomly called a boat dealer who does Honda on the side on Friday, and brought home our new Pioneer yesterday. Seems the dealers don’t know what’s coming and when, so just keep calling. And don’t trust any website for inventory info ever.
That's true. The dealers do not know when they will get inventory. My dealer told me last Friday that they might have some 1000's in late May, but they don't have any control over what they get or when.
Do u have the 700 4sale
Can't sell my favorite toy. Pioneers are the best side-by-side on on the market and there's currently a shortage of them. But thanks for asking.
No reverse??
Both machines have reverse, but they do not go very fast in reverse.
@@MikeM100 ok
My Pioneer 1000 was a reliable machine but the damn thing rattled so bad you couldn't hardly ride it
Yep. Honda needs to work on that. My roof rattles pretty bad, not matter how much I tighten it. But I can overlook it because of the great performance of the machine. Thanks for watching.
