@@thescalemodellingcafe Back in 92 while at King Abdulaziz Air Base a few of us would go to the Brit compound and shoot darts with a few pints. I guess all that has changed now. Damn shame.
That is a beautiful SHAR 😍 It was almost like you were recounting a harrowing combat mission 😅 You make an excellent point about weathering, my weathering is guided by my reference photos of the subject but sometimes I feel as though I’m cheating and ‘under weathering’ . I find achieving a subtle weathering finish harder than a full on grime fest . As you said , the SHAR’s at that stage of its career were almost pristine.
Nice video Jamie! Agree 100% about the SHAR, I built that kit a couple of years ago and I remember it being the first kit I used super glue to tack-weld parts for because the fit was so poor. So much shimming, filling and sanding! Did get a large sense of achievement at the end when it was beaten across the line but I immediately sold my FA.2 and GR.3 kits because I just didn't want to touch another Kinetic Harrier 🤣 I've not long just started the Kotare Spitfire Mk.I (Mid) and the fit is brilliant, though the instructions do take a little bit of de-ciphering. Looking forward to seeing your attempt at it! Enjoy your next personal build, fully well-deserved after that Harrier!
A brilliant job on the Sea Harrier Jamie. Clear to see your frustration, but what you have achieved is superb even if in your eyes it’s not to your usual high standards. It still makes my models look average at best. Have fun with the next build. 😊
kudos on fighting the good fight with that bl--dy Harrier kit !! 👍👍For a nice relaxing mojo build might I suggest any particular Starfix kit? ;) Tried their Mirage iii about 50 years ago!! Total bin fodder . Loved the 1/48 post apocalypse AN-2 colt build
Sounds like it would be less painful to carve a Sea Harrier model from a solid block of plastic 😜 Much as I want a Falklands FRS.1 to display, this kit is off my list - I don’t have the skills for this. Can some other kit maker please offer an easy alternative in the same scale? Jamie you deserve a medal for finishing the model. 👍🏻👍🏻 😊
Aires cockpits, wonderful detail (that practically paints itself) but needs a few days of grinding and sanding to get it to fit. Used one on my Tamiya’s Mossie. Not sure it was worth that week of my life.
Flipping ‘eck - how many times “didn’t fit” ? Sounded like a mild resigned rant and you look wasted. BUT the photographs look absolutely fantastic - I think you have turned a pigs ear into silk purse. Can’t wait for the build video. Airfix need to release one in 1:48.
When you say all intakes on Sea Harriers shoud be painted EDS, you mean the FRS.1s yes? FA2s look to have white intakes on the refference photos I have.
There's a rough guide, and there's missing parts, incorrect numbers, missing numbers, vague locating diagrams and misleading pictures. A rough guide is one thing but it's if they deliberately made these ones to trip up the modeller and hinder the building!
Time for a few pints. You polished that pig and made it like pretty damn good, well done. Cheers
If only I didn't work in a dry country!

What a marathon and painful build…it’s supposed to be an enjoyable hobby! Well done for persevering. Hope your friend is very grateful!
I hope so too, thanks David
Congratulations on finishing the Harrier. I have also listened to the Peter Oxley’s rant on the kit. Good fun.
Fun for the viewer!

The GR is much better by all accounts.
Great job Jamie, despite your troubles you have made an absolute corker!
Sounds like essentail aftermarket would be a 1:1 resin swear box 😄
I'd be skint!
Oh wow. I feel your pain. But top marks for perseverance. Hope the mojo recovers quickly.
Thanks mate

Sounds like you need to lay down in a darkened room for a while Jaime
Fact!
I built their Gold series GR3 a few years ago. It was a nice little kit but I hadn't been modelling for long so I was easily pleased.
It's a much better kit

Thanks mate, chuffed you like the AN-2, it's my worst performing video project! 😂
I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about this kit as I was when I added it to my stash!
It's a challenge for sure!
Love the way you take all the problems in your stride. Unlike Mr Oxley's histrionics. Well done, superb job.
Thanks mate

I wish Airfix would do it, they'd knock it out the park!
@@thescalemodellingcafe I believe so too. Airfix, if you’re reading this …. 🤞🏻🍀
After all the pain the pictures look fantastic.Nice job well done. I wonder what Lego model you're making for yourself !
It'll be Arma or Eduard!

well done for getting to the end of it Jamie think you did a great job on a very difficult kit
Thanks Stewart

I think you need a simple tamiya kit after that! I was going to buy the Gr3 but think ill give it a miss
Eduard Me 109G-2 Trop 1:72!

All FRS.1s
The Harrier looks great, though now I think I'll sell my kit! Sound is much better.
Thanks Darrell, it was a challenge for sure but your skills will improve if you build it!
Looking forward to part 1 of the buijd Jamie
Thanks mate
@thescalemodellingcafe most welcome Jamie.....so are you still living in the Kingdom (Saudi Arbia) or are you back homr in the U.k.?
Still in Saudi, going home for a week very soon though.
@@thescalemodellingcafe awesome... what us life like out there in terms of the laws... im assuming, for example, you can't go for a beer?
From my experience, Kinetic produce nice kits. However, in many cases the instructions should be treated as a rough guide.

Every Kinetic kit I have built had dreadful instructions. How has the guy still got a job?
Indeed!
What you are describing makes it seem like an awful kit and not worth the effort
What you said...!
@@thescalemodellingcafe lol..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣....on a serious note.....if Peter can do it then i have every confidence that you can too Jamie.👍👍👍
