Woah just saying, Crispy, but Last Christmas was my first ever Xmas special and I still LOVE it. One of the episodes that made me fall in love with this incredible show!
5:28 Well that was a confusing moment to return to my screen. My brain, partially asleep, immediately went into video conference mode and I almost sprinted out of the room because I wasn't wearing pants.

The unicorn and the wasp is one I my favorite episodes, mostly because it is the first I ever saw and I love Christie. I think it should have been on good at least! But I would rank it in amazing personally.
As for blink, that is also a top episode for me that really got me into Doctor Who! Very glad it ended up in the greatest, deserves to be there.
Gridlock and shakespeare code I thought were super fun series 3 episodes! I'm surprised they ranked low.

Personally I feel that Death in Heaven is very underrated. On first watch it wasn't my fav but I recently rewatched it and damn someone was cutting onions
Yknow my theory? I think Chris does not have passion for doctor who anymore. The episodes are either just don’t make sense or they are low effort. It may be kinda fun to watch but for Jodie to be the doctor to change the entire lore of the show? I don’t even think Matt or David could pull that off.
Honestly , my theory is that he only watches doctor who episodes halfway through , but that was busted in revolution of the daleks where he wrote in jack mention the last part of parting of the ways , but he could've just heard about it! MY THEORY STILL HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING TRUE , YESSSS!
They kind of do in day of the doctor when they re-write the doctors past and save galafrey, but the timeless child has a bigger effect on the lore
Yo where did you find that thirteenth doctor PNG in the thumbnail? I've been looking for a good thirteenth doctor cut out for a while now.
Th problem here was that you were ranking them comparing them to their own seasons... For example spyfall is good compred to other whitaker episodes but its is not as good as the other moffat and RTD episodes in that category.
Dr who was the first show I ever watched actively and I stopped around 2014 this is a nice nostalgia trip

Impossible planet and Satan pit are definitely amazing and possibly the greatest, a tennant 2 parter on par with family of blood and silence in the library two parters

The doctor's daughter was also very enjoyable especially when Georgia tenant was the one that played the doctor's daughter and basically told him off about time

I actually enjoyed the idiot's Lantern I enjoyed that and more than the end of time at least that would had the doctor acting like he was angry and ticked off and pissed off all at once there's no power on Earth is going to stop him obvious
I thought 42 was good- i liked the shot of the captain and her sun poisoned husband holding each other and spinning to their deaths. It's the kind of thing you only really get to do in sci fi. I liked the fact that martha kisses someone else, i felt like her and the other trapped crewmate were really believably panicked in this small airlock chamber waiting to die, and the connection they sought from each other felt genuine. I loved the doctor begging martha not to leave him when he was poisoned by the sun. The ticking clock really made the episode feel tense. I would have given it an 8/10. I guess the thing i wasn't too keen on was the captains husband being threatening towards her, all while insisting it was "her fault", and him being vindicated in the episode.
Also midnight should have been s tier.
Also, I don't hate love and monsters! I loved the idea of a group of doctor who fanatics meeting up and joining a club, and I don't hate Russell t Davies' grosser monsters. I remember enjoying the episode as a kid.
I would have put gridlock at amazing. The two master episodes with John Simms at s tier
I think that the only one where they go back in time that is something special, is family of blood. I think they were far more invested in portraying the texture and attitudes of the past.

Unpopular opinion: Hell Bent, while frustratingly undoing Clara's good ending in Face the Raven, isn't as bad as it's reputation suggests.
@@bwmanhath3770 I 100% agree with you. Other than the stupid ending with the diner, its a decent episode, developing on the Doctor's relationship with the Time Lords and is the first time we see Gallifrey in NuWho that isn't during the Time War

@@bwmanhath3770 I'll one-up the unpopularity of your opinion and say Hell Bent was a better way to cap off Clara's arc than just her dying. The whole theme of Capaldi's era is, what does it mean to be the "Doctor." How does one go about being "never cruel, nor cowardly." Clara's recklessness and death as a result of trying to save Rigsy and the Doctor's subsequent attempt to undo her death which he felt responsible for are examples of the wrong way to go about "being the Doctor."
Ultimately, Clara getting another chance to prove what she's learned sends the message that trying to be the Doctor is actually a good thing, not a harmful thing. I think it would be a terribly cynical message otherwise. It also marks the transformation of the Twelfth Doctor from a person who is unwilling to let people into his life for fear of being a bad influence, to a person who has been proven to positively influence people and eventually successfully teaches Bill and later Missy his philosophy of life.
I also think that Clara's ending still retains the best aspects of Clara's death. One thing that was very good about her death is that she faced it with bravery and rejected the Doctor's attempts at preventing it. When the Doctor "saved" her and tried to erase her memory, he was taking ownership of her life choices and removing her agency. After his memory was wiped, she made the decision to not go back to Gallifrey, effectively taking back her agency.
And for those who feel like the emotional trauma felt by the Doctor is lessened by these events, A) the Doctor still vaguely remembers these events so they still act as a cautionary tale and B) It's a running theme throughout this era that memories are the most important aspect of identity. The Doctor, having changed appearance and, to a degree, personality so many times throughout his life, really only is the sum of his memories in the end. To not be able to remember someone who he loved and was there for him in one of the most vulnerable times in his life is at least as devastating for him as knowing they're dead.
Although, I will admit that the diner is a level of cheesiness that detracts from the otherwise bittersweet tone of the ending.
@@PaulAndroid beautifully said. you’ve really articulated perfectly how i feel about hell bent (and this era in general) too; it was a fitting, bittersweet end. i like the diner though; it’s no more ridiculous than the police box. i feel like getting everyone who is critical of the capaldi era and showing them this comment.
your point about memories made me think of twice upon a time. the doctor really grew as a character after the traumas of hell bent, finally learning how to accept goodbyes after realising his mistakes in bringing clara back. he had no right to change her death, which she faced with so much bravery. he became the best version of himself by the end as a result of these events, but he was incomplete without remembering clara; like you said, what is he but the sum of his memories? it felt only right that his memories were returned to him before he died, like a reward for his atonement of the mistakes he made regarding clara’s death. it was the completion of the twelfth doctor’s arc and allowed him to be the true, final version of his character in the end.

@@berniet1215 The series aren't really longer just half length episodes. There has been lots of large gaps in New Who episodes compared to what we used to get. So it seems like the ideal time to do it surely?
Also the way the classic series ran you could get away with not watching it in order.

I'm not really crazy about Rivers son and I'm not really going to be because I still wanted the doctor to Mary Rose I know you're not a big Rose fan Chris but I am but Silence of the library enjoy that one little kid being narrator of the show that was just Exposition on top of exposition on top of Florida I did not distribute actually just showed this episode was actually a good episode that played under the Fantastic level Road

I'm sorry crispy but I have to say hell no on that was listening to the Davidsons the doctor wine for an hour on end like a little baby was enough to make me turned off drawn out Tim's character didn't draw me into the scene he drew me out of it I wanted to be in a Time Warp anyting but listening to David timberwind for an hour and a half was exhausting not to mention downright nerve-wracking I know there's a song that sexy and I know it but this wasn't sexy this was fun sexy and I might wear it sexy go where did the doctor go it's just a doctor or is this an imposter

Series 11 and 12 are non-canonical, so I wouldn't rate them (or watch them again). But what about a rating of the 160 stories of Seasons 1-26 plus Movie?

The Top 3 worst episodes of New Who (apart from series 11 and 12 which are non-canon) were all in series 2: The Idiot's Lantern, Love & Monsters and Fear Her.
Not a single series 11 or 12 episode is above ok for me, very few of those too, just being honest, Rosa and FOJ no where near amazing lol
