  • Drug resistant epilepsy (or DRE) affects 1 in 3 epilepsy patients. It can be challenging to diagnose and find suitable treatment. DRE becomes increasingly difficult to live with because most people still experience seizures despite treatment but new advancement in technology, such as VNS Therapy, offers new hope for those who do not respond to antiepileptic medicines.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation (or VNS) therapy is an emerging option for people living with DRE and has the potential to provide relief from seizures. VNS therapy uses a small, pacemaker-like device to send mild pulses through the vagus nerve. VNS Therapy can lead to fewer seizures, shorter seizures and better recovery after seizures.
