This is by far the most interesting guitar work I have heard in a long, long time. It's really refreshing to hear a 7-string used for something other than detuned heavy metal (not that there's anything wrong with metal). Exceptionally well done Yvette - thank you for sharing!
I need to get my song writing and shit this good. Jesus Christ, this is overwhelming. so many tones and everything coming together yet, I can hear them all separately.
@@kozmic225 I found that learning how to play fingerstyle compositions (think Sungha Jung stuff) really helped with playing this style of music. Learn how to play some easy-ish fingerstyle compositions (for example, I found _Comptine d'un autre été: L'après-midi_ to be very manageable) to get used to synchronising your fingers to pick simultaneously and such. Animals As Leaders' _On Impulse_ is fantastic too, but it's a difficult composition, so leave it for later. To manage tapping whilst finger picking, try finding stuff by bands like TTNG ( _Elk_ for example) or Tiny Moving Parts ( _Always Focused_ for example) or the like. Then just build up from there. Other than that, I wouldn't know what to really suggest. Best of luck.
She says it herself in another video you can find it if you look. She basically says what every guitarist will tell you . Learn super slow but accurately then speed it up once you get it. Also breaking songs into chunks makes it easier as well.
This girl is special and very very talented. It's like she's stanley jordan v2.0 but she sings too! I hope she sends this to tori amos cause she needs some sort of patronage from a known artist to kickstart her career while she's young and creative before she gets discouraged. Simply amazing
I love what you are doing with a 7 string. I didn't even realize it was at first. Beautiful lady, beautiful playing. I really like your pickups and the maple neck. I wish I could find a maple neck guitar that I liked, they look so sharp and feel so smooth .
Strandberg (and EMG) have gotten some incredible advertising with this piece. If I thought for a second that the instrument would improve my own playing, I'd have one by now based on just this. But I understand that these (all of them) are displays of not just incredible talent and enthusiasm... but also many, many years of disciplined hard work.
great! the melody moves so quickly, it's like staring into some vision where you're trying to catch your breath but can never quite breathe deeply enough until that moment when you just let it be and then you can relax and breathe again
These videos make so inspired to play guitar, I have started playing much more regularly since I discovered this channel from the ibanez website. It also inspired me to throw my pick in the bin I don't need it anymore. 😁
Sometimes these young musicians make me want to trash my guitar collection . . . . Can't imagine what this young lady will be capable of in 5 years. Amazing. :-)
been a while since I've watched your stuff, Yvette but I'm really happy that you continuously pursue music, the quality of your videos and songs are increasing, and just the inspiration for tapping style to have a ton of emotion in it
Dude to be able to meet you in person meant the world to me! Im so happy to have! Thank you for being chill af! Someday i ll be up there on stage again like you are RN! Mark my works i will!
I've been obsessed with this song since I found out about it a few days ago. And lately I've had so little inspiration to push myself towards my musical but this has definitely helped. Still struggling but this has done tons for me, so thank you! (:
I love your music so much. It has inspired me alot and I have begun writing my own music. Its nowhere near as good or as complex as yours but its a start.
you definitely deserve more hits. props!! You are immensely talented and are still classy and i respect that a lot. You are the kind of person that all girls today should be looking up to!
i was sooo sucked into this, this was really awesome and is awesome to listen to, holy crap. it really reminds me of like an anime intro or something like it had a nice tone to it.
I always like seeing extended range instruments being used in things other than metal.
pat metheny

Yvette, I really like your splitting of notes between hands/tapping style. You should make a tutorial on the method you use.
Neal Sanger tap the strings with your fingers
She released some on jam play

I've always wondered what exercises you have to practice to build up to composing stuff like this.
I would love to know too

honestly I don't know but my best guess would be all of them.
The best exercise is to practice and practice.lol

Incredible!
Thank you for posting this, Yvette. I am learning the drum portions and listening to the guitar by itself really helps challenge me to follow along.

Beautiful Strandberg, beautiful song.
great! the melody moves so quickly, it's like staring into some vision where you're trying to catch your breath but can never quite breathe deeply enough until that moment when you just let it be and then you can relax and breathe again
Wow! What a great combination of melodic playing and jaw dropping technique! And all that with a very sweet tone!
These videos make so inspired to play guitar, I have started playing much more regularly since I discovered this channel from the ibanez website. It also inspired me to throw my pick in the bin I don't need it anymore. 😁
The progressions you use are like butter to my ears, so smooth! Glad I stumbled upon this, you've gained a fan here.
This reminds me of Scale the Summit. Beautiful, melodic, hypnotic. I love it!

I'm pretty sure someone did a "math rock basics" and then another on the finger-tapping technique Yvette uses so often. Worth the watch
