- I recently did an IGTV feature for "Guitars are Better" playing my band Covet's song "Shibuya". I put out a playthrough video for this song awhile back but a lot of people seemed bothered that my guitar wasn't "plugged in" for a music video...and insisted I couldn't play my own song which is kinda silly so here's just me rOckIN the FRICK out in my living room on my phone!! Not perfect but hey i'm a human lady! Usually live I use a compressor and effects but NOPE not today buddyyyyy

Crazy how she did literally everything perfect... Except for the fact that she filmed vertically

The vertical filming makes the video seem more homemade. I like it

I am a pianist, flautist, and bassist, and yet I cannot believe how quickly her fingers are moving, not to mention the accuracy of her playing.
I’m a pianist, guitarist, and beginner violinist and SAME. She’s a fucking legend istg - to be fair she learned piano and violin in her childhood before guitar, so I’m assuming that helped her a lot.
Yvette brings me so much joy...
The passion mixed with incredible musicianship, topped off with a heart-warming smile.
Thank you.
this video exudes so much happiness & hope that i literally started bawling out of nowhere.
thank you for this.

that's the video I came from and youtube recommended this after clicking that one
Shes a master pianist as well
If you haven't heard her story you really should it's amazing
She was forced to play piano from a very young age until she colapsed. Later she discovered guitar and her real interest for music.
Just the way you dance and smile to yourself while playing. I literally felt the magic coming out of you. Truly talented and amazing person you are😊

your picking style really brings out the bell-like chime of the single coil and vox combo love it

@@FizzyCape i recently got a Boss Katana Mini and while it's more Marshally than Voxxy it does the clean breakup reeeally well for a lil battery amp. The small size doesn't make much different since people usually used smaller amps to get some of those tones anyway, it's great.

People with great tastes don't have to know how to cook, they just need a great sense of smell and of course their are a billion other examples of this, like u cant make soda can ya? but u still choose which one is better/ur go to soda, u may not have the skills to build a home but u can judge it's appearance and functionality as well as the space it provides right? I doubt u can make a computer but u discriminated other computers to get the one that u have now right? Saying that someone is good at doing something simply because you can't do it is not an argument. Maybe if she was the only person who ever played guitar ever in the world than your statement would be proper, but since many people can play guitar ur argument is invalid.
Mind you that i do not disagree with the side you are arguing for. I think she is a great guitar player due to the skills she showed as well as the amazing piece she just played (it is possible to show skill without the song sounding great, think bad chord progression but with hammer on and guitar tapping) But i do disagree with the argument u provided. I repeat, Being able to do something that someone else cant do does not make you good. It only means that by comparison you are better at doing it than the person who can't do it properly if at all.

@@c82153 I think you misunderstood him, he's saying its sounds really good without effects to hide behind
@@counter8630 I don't think so. To me, the phrase "hide behind effects" implies that when she does use effects, it's to hide behind them. @b sos ahahahah I was going to ask him what is the price for his guitar. then I red this comment. and then I understood the joke
The best thing about this video is how you smile when you play certain passages. It really shows how much you love what you're doing.
If you're watching this and feeling low because the amazingly talented Yvette is so, so, so much better than you are and perhaps ever will be, remember two things:
1. Practice. Yeah, we talkin' about practice. Do it and do it some more. Nobody comes out the womb with these skills.
2. You're not in competition with your favorite musicians because art is not a competition, art is a release.
OK maybe remember one more thing - whatever you play has meaning and value when it comes from who you are, whether it sounds as incredible as this or... like a B-side to Metal Machine Music.
Play on, playa.
This is something to remember with everything, remind yourself every once in a while as to why you're doing what youre doing and to not lose hope by comparing yourself with others.
