For my A7Cii, I use the Viltrox 20 2.8, Sigma 35 2.0 and Sigma 65 2.0. (another good add would be the Yougnuo 85 1.8). All that said, I will be moving to the newly announced 16-25 2.8, 24-50 2.8 (plus the 65 or 85) for travel - both the new zooms are the same size as primes.
I do not have a Sony A7c series Camera, the Sony A7RIV are compact enough to me, when I go compact it could fx be Zeiss Loxia Distagon 21mm 2.8 T*, Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 T* ZA (or the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical) and Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 T* ZA, often with an extra Sony A7RIVA, so I have a wide angle Lens on one Camera and the 55mm on the other Camera, when I go really lightweight I only carry one camera with one Lens in my hand. I have had many Macro Lenses, until 3 years ago my top favorite macro Lens was the excellent Leica Macro Elmarit R 60mm 2.8, then the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0 Aspherical, now I most often use the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5, macro Lenses can be used for all kind of photography.
I have an A7C and my lenses are Sigma, 24mm, f3.5, Dg dn; Sony, 50mm, f2.5, G; and Sigma, 90mm, f2.8, dg dn. All are small and compact, to fit the ethos of the A7C body and all super sharp. I also have a Sony, A7 IV that I share the lenses with. On my A7 IV I use a 24mm, f1.4, GM to cover the 24mm focal length and don’t typically by habit use that lens with my A7C because its a little large on the body. I had the Sony, 90mm, f2.8 macro and while it is a beautiful lens with spectacular macro capabilities it was way too big for how I like to shoot. I didn’t want to use it and it stayed in my closet. I returned it, knowing I’d be giving up the wonderful macro capability. In exchange I got the Sigma, 90mm, f2.8 and I am soooo much happier its great sharpness, beautiful rendering and compact size.
I am on the same set up a7cii and 16-35pz (what a lens!), zeiss 55 1.8 and either the 85 1.8 Sony or the 90 macro. But I am travelling with a 24-70 gmii and a viltrox 20mm f2.8
The 16-35 PZ has really surprised me. All around win. I’ve been researching some Viltrox lenses and would love a 20mm prime for video. Would you recommend?
@@HannahYoungPhotography I think if you could look past the focusing motor noise then it’s one of the best lens for $160 usd. Best walk around lens and for vlogging. Also need to accept the plastic build which I would say it’s close feel to tamron lenses, and no weather sealing so have to be aware when to use it.
Great suggestions! I do mainly video and I am also into the G series. I use two lenses; the 16-25mm 2.8 and the 24-50mm 2.8. Both are light weight, high quality, and fit the A7C2 really well.
Thanks for watching. Loving the sound of your set up - I really like the look of both of these. Particularly the 16-25 f/2.8… really nice. Could be very tempting….
Of all lenses I own, the 90mm has been used more than any other. Outside of that lens, I like the 24-105 f4.0 or 20-70 f4, depending on what I am going to do. For super wide, I like the 20mm f1.8. Beautiful lens.
Thank you for the video. I tried the f/4 16-35mm PZ but fell back to the small Sigma 16-28/2.8 DG DN I already had. Not quite as small but I don’t shoot video so I prefer the faster aperture of the PZ and saves you quite a bit. I have the 40/2,5 G and like its size but also own several members of the Sigma I-Series primes at 24, 35, 50, and 65mm all t f/2 which I’ve been trying. Also still have my Zeiss Batis 40/2 CF which is not heavy but physically larger and it’s great as well. At the longer end still debating but my Zeiss Batis 85/1.8 is great. Take care.
Really nice set Steve, thanks for watching. I’m keen to look into the Sigma series of primes - they sound like a great option also. I used to have a Batis for an APSC Sony years ago. I remember loving it - can’t for the life of me remember the focal length though 🤦🏻♀️
@@HannahYoungPhotography same here. I really like it on my camera cause of size, but can't say I enjoy the photos so much. For video seems fine though. I try now to replace it with Sony 35 1.8 or Viltrox 20 2.8.
@@dionisiosmelogiannidis5350That Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 is a great lens for the A7CII. I also got the Samyang 24mm f1.8, and it's so sharp with good build quality (well, a lot better than earlier tiny lenses). The Samyang 45mm f1.8 is also a great little lens.
Cool video! Thanks for posting. The 16-35 pz f4 lives on my zve1 or fx3 most of the time. Amazing lens! I love the new(ish) Sony 20-70 f4 G lens for my a7cii. You might try that one sometime.
Thanks Chris, really appreciate it 🙌🏼 Glad you’re loving the 16-35PZ too. Must try that 2470 out too. Would you consider the new 24-50 f/2.8. Its peaked my interest a bit. So wish it was 20-50 though 😉
I’m really torn on the 24-50 2.8. Like you said it would be more appealing if it were 20-50. Although it’s tempting I’m probably going to pass on it since I have the 20-70
I currently use the Sony FE 20-70mm F4 for all my photography and youtube videos and I find it such a convenient lens. I can do everything from street photography, landscapes and even some macros and portrait. Trying to carry as few lenses as possible these days 😅
Nice - that's super versatile. And nice to go down to 20 as well. I haven't found 24 to be wide enough when I had a 24-70 so it didn't cover all bases. This one could hit the spot...
Agree with first and third but have three Samyang compacts instead of 40mm. Excellent, compact and the total cost for three same as Sony. Flexible depending on location. 18mm for markets, tight spaces, 24mm and 35mm for street. Easy to put all three in small pouch.
Nice. Thanks for watching 🙌🏼 I really love the 40mm. Obviously you lose a fair bit in aperture compared to the 1.8 but I’d imagine the size/weight is fairly drastically different also. It’s so tiny and fun to use…
I’m thinking of buying the a7cii and sony 35mm 1.8 to use on gimbal work and as a second camera since my a7r line of camera is big and heavy with 24-70gm even if i do like that combo.
Me neither. This was my first go. I was a little apprehensive. I haven’t noticed much of any n significant noise from it. The stop/start and method of adjusting the zoom does take a little getting used to - certainly different to a ‘hard stop’. But have got used to it 🙌🏼
