Is the Specific Heat Resistant Tape For Sublimation a Waste of Money or is it Worth it?

  • When you’re making items using sublimation you will want to use an adhesive whether it’s spray adhesive or a heat resistant tape. I recently purchased some special specific heat resistant tape for my project, but in this video you will see that painters tape is also heat resistant and works just as well for a lot cheaper!

Thank you! I'm working on a difficult design on a very large (4x) shirt so I've had to slice the design multiple times and I don't have any heat resistant tape but I do have blue painters tape so I'm about to give it a shot. Thanks so much for the experiment and video. Your kitty sounds like a spoiled baby (like mine are). Lol.

I've used this on tumblers, no residue what so ever left on them. But i used this on the satin pillowcases from the dollar tree to make santa sacks. It didn't want to come off unless it was warmed up and then it left sticky residue which i can not seem to get off even after washing twice.

I've had the the same issue with it leaving the glue residue. Not sure if it is going to melt my polyester shirt but I think i am going to try glue-b-gone and see if I can rescue my shirt

That yellowish color was left on mines too from the heat tape. The blue heat tape Cricut sales is much better but I was advised to buy scotch tape

My heat tape also leaves yellowish residue but only when pressing on the 100% polyester white shirts. It does just fine on my 65% polyester heather shorts that I bleach white spot to sublimate on. Guess it's the high polyester that causes the yellow.

Would this work as well if you were doing it with a dark shirt and using the transfer paper for darks? Or would it just mess it up? 🤔 I have been looking for about 3 hours on tips and your video is the only one remotely close to what I need answers to 😭

Sublimation doesn’t work well on darks :( but I do have a video on how to sub on any color though just posted a week or two ago if you search! You would just sub on vinyl and put vinyl on the shirt !

I only use blue painter's tape or masking tape to wrap my sublimation tumblers all the time and they come out perfect. I do not use shrink wrap ever to sublimate my tumblers; it's too expensive imo.
