Ahhh now you've found an eclectic rabbit hole! Talking Heads, Unique, quirky, high energy, musically diverse 80s art band. You gotta react to their live concert film, Stop Making Sense!. All their best songs, Burning Down the House, My Girlfriend is Better, Life During Wartime, Take Me to the River, Slippery People. They even had a side group (Tom Tom Club) featuring the bass player, Tina Weymouth. "Genius of Love" is a global, classic old skool jam!
Talking Heads are great. David Byrne performed on SNL earlier this year and tore the house down. You should check out more of their songs, such as "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)" or "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)" among so many others. This version of "Psycho Killer" sounds like an outtake or an alternate take of the song. The line "I passed out hours ago, I'm sadder than you'll ever know" got cut from the version that made it onto the album Talking Heads '77. The guitar comes in before the drums on the album version and it sounds a lot more jangly.
It's always fun when you start exploring music and different genres. You learn that you are a music lover and it stems from the heart. You just like good Music. I grew up only being exposed to one or two genres of music. So when i started exploring and found that I like soo many different types of music, Spotify became my bff.
Here are a few songs from my childhood (late 1960s to early 1970s). I’d be curious to see your reactions: Spirit in the sky - Norman Greenbaum The Israelites - Desmond Dekker and the Aces In the Year 2525 - Zager and Evans
One of my all time favourites. When I was a kid I saw Tina Weymouth with a bass guitar. We NEVER saw women with guitars!! She blows my mind. That guitar is bigger than her
Can’t stop watching these videos. So happy to enjoy this music with y’all. This album was played nonstop by my parents. The Live concert album is crazy good as well. ✊🏽
Oh man, they're one of my favorite bands. This is a really fun rabbit hole to go down. So delightfully weird and offbeat in the best way. Watch their concert documentary "Stop Making Sense" when you have a chance.
The whole late 70s NYC proto-punk scene is probably my favorite era of music. Check out the Tom Tom Club, which was formed by some of the Talking Heads members after they broke up.
Fantastic job with this UA-cam channel/community! I don’t subscribe to many, but I always make sure I watch this one. I know this is corny to say, but I’m so proud of the time and thought put into this project. Your willingness to listen to all kinds of music and critic it with an open mind and positive attitude make you fun to watch!
When I was 19 going on 20, I was in a fashion show titled 'Genetic Damage' which was in the San Francisco Mabuhay Gardens Punk club. I was high on LSD & Southern Comfort and this song was loud as I came across the stage with a psycho gal scratching at me with her long nails('Bit(h!" I thought) and I would feel it the next day. This song was forever burned in my memory from that day. Your on a roll!
Just discovered your channel today bc I love the Talking Heads and someone shared this with me... i love this idea, what you’re doing... now I’m going to have to go watch your other videos :) Love seeing people’s reactions to hearing new music, esp if it’s a band I personally really appreciate. I’ll try to think of something to throw your way but first I need to see what you’ve already heard! Much love 😊
Jefferson Airplane, "How do you feel?" Summer of '67 San Francisco hippie vibe. You'll be transported on a gentle psychedelic trip. Will be fun for us to watch your reaction. Remember, "the first one's free!!!"
This is a demo version. Check out the real album version or the live version from Stop Making Sense. ua-cam.com/video/eauZzwt8Ci8/v-deo.html and keep going down the TH rabbit hole. They are fun, deep, quirky, talented, weird, intellectual...
I'm a 44 year old white middle class woman and I've dust discovered (and subscribed) to your channel. I feel like watching you reacting to the music of my youth just proves that - under the skin at least - there is more that connect us all than separates us. Sending you love and peace.
My favorite Talking Heads album is “Fear of Music”-you REALLY should check it out. I especially love “Air” and “Animals.” p.s. You’ve got a great show going here! Congratulations.
It's great to know the song already and I find it fascinating to watch this young man absorb the music. He just gets it, he gives it time to play, bobs his head to the rhythm and as he takes it in, he says "yeah" along the way. Bravo! :)
hey man..."Stop Making Sense"... there isn't a bad song on it..and there's a DVD too boot.... you will absolutely love everything ever song..go down the rabbit hole and enjoy.
Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads has done work with Gorillaz which would be a cool reaction video. Or her other band Tom Tom Club's song Genius of Love. That's one where once you hear it you realize how much it gets sampled. I also just want to see the reaction to the "JAMES BROOOOWN" part since he seems to get into the raspy/screaming vocals on tracks.
David Byrne from the talking heads now has a movie on HBO directed by Spike Lee. Very powerful and for our times. Old and new songs. Called American Utopia.
Hi there. 61 yr old but young! Lol. Lots of these videos are from the 80s and early 90s. Some are 70s too. Fyi maybe you find then year for the song/video, etc. Not being rude, just so you're ahead of the the game, and you know some basic info on the artist(s), groups, time frame, etc. Keep up the great work! BTW, many of the 80s and some 90s. Music videos were a bit "nutty, " visually, for lack of a better word. MTV was born In those days. To me though, and I think so many in this generation (my daughter's too -27), are appreciating ALL types of genres of yesteryear. And Motown simply could not be beat. I wish we had more singers and groups like that. There are some, but not enough.
Seeing Talking Heads live was not going to a concert. It was going to a show. A really good show. With expert production and execution. Not to mention some of the best music ever. David Byrne is a master of music, language, cinema, and anything he chooses to do.
This is one of my faves. Their concert experience, Stop Making Sense was & still is a completely unique experience, in that as u noted, they added instrument by instrument... on stage, it starts with singer/guitar, cassette tape & each song adds more of the band & instruments. I was there! It was filmed as an art piece by Jonathan Demme (whom went on to a be a famous director).. im glad u enjoyed & appreciated even the album version, live is off the chain dude. So many amazings songs in that show alone, besides their albums.. if u dont go into that concert, try Burning Down the House (later in the 80’s); Life During Wartime, Once in a Lifetime, Girlfriend is better)
I am not that into music but I do remember this song in my 30s and putting it on in the house and dancing around like a maniac. Stress reliever while working on my dissertation. Thanks for playing it. Keep going.. you are really listening to some global treasures.
Fun fact: this is actually the alternate version of Psycho Killer. this isn't the version that appears on the album. the version that appears on the album has a different opening to verse 2. This is actually my favorite version though and that change in line is the reason why. I love the line "I passed out hours ago, I'm sadder than you'll ever know"
Love love these guy's! They were all the rage in the 80's, lots of good suggestions so I'll only add a couple more lol highway to nowhere and dream operator . Your awesome and you never disappoint me with your reactions ...♡
Love songs with a twist. In this case the French lyrics thrown in. Sometimes clapping or violin or just anything different or unexpected and upbeat. Those are my favorite songs.
These guys definitely have their own sound. Worthwhile to check out their live concert movie "Stop Making Sense", you'd love it (it actually won a lot of awards too).
Check his wife and bass players band. Tom Tom Club. Wordy Rappinghood and/or Genius of Love both SLAP! Big up from the UK btw! Loving seeing you and your Bro touching the classics. Well done. Good content.
I'm enjoying your reaction to a very un-mainstream song. Even back in the day, this was not something you'd hear on top 40 radio. But we loved it then and it ages well with old ears. It got a lot of play on college radio and alternative stations.
My dog is named Maynard because tool is my all time fave lol... Finally saw them a few years ago. Danny Carey is sooooo talented. The drums on Rosetta Stoned, enough said.

This is my favorite Talking Heads song! ❤️
Ahh no, you gotta watch them perform the songs. That’s the best part! ❤️
Jefferson Airplane, "How do you feel?" Summer of '67 San Francisco hippie vibe. You'll be transported on a gentle psychedelic trip. Will be fun for us to watch your reaction. Remember, "the first one's free!!!"
White Rabbit!
One doesn't do anything at all 😁
I will never forget Weird Al Yankovics' parody/version of this song. Psycho Chicken!
Haha....
Good reaction!
Though it sounds like Psycho Chicken should have been done by Weird Al, it wasn’t. It was done by The Fools.
@@Jonni1027 oh, huh. Thanks! I actually didn't know that.
I remember hearing it on the Dr. Demento radio show.
😂

Love how you are open to listening to so many different music genres. Try some original old school Genesis with Peter Gabriel.
Lol. Talking heads are so weird and I LOVE THEM
How about “Tom Sawyer” from Rush!

Yes! Burning Down the House!
"Talking Heads" was a term used for one or two people talking away for a long time on a tv screen.
Lol. Still do in documentaries
Really obscure, but one of my favorites, 'AIR' - Talking Heads
Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads has done work with Gorillaz which would be a cool reaction video. Or her other band Tom Tom Club's song Genius of Love. David Byrne from the talking heads now has a movie on HBO directed by Spike Lee. Very powerful and for our times. Old and new songs. Called American Utopia.
The singer is called Alison Moyet. Good voice. She had some great songs like 'All cried out" and "love resurrection".

I was shocked when my 18 year old son knew this song
I heard it on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia lol that’s where everyone my age has heard it probably
I first heard this song in 2009, just before I turned 10 years old. Two of my cousins, who’re about the same age as me, introduced me to it.
Maybe he saw the movie "my friend Donner"
One of my favorite songs of all time!!!
Seeing Talking Heads live was not going to a concert. It was going to a show. A really good show. With expert production and execution.
Not to mention some of the best music ever. David Byrne is a master of music, language, cinema, and anything he chooses to do.
Radiohead took their name after a Talking Heads song. ;)
