Their biggest hits are “Burning Down the House”, “Take Me to the River”, “Once In A Lifetime”, “Life During Wartime”, And She Was” and “Wild Wild Life”.
You HAVE to see this in the beginning of Stop Making Sense (DVD). His outfit and the way he presents it in the concert movie. "I hate people that aren't polite" great line. That whole movie is FIRE.
Harold!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist! Peter Sellers was hilarious as Inspector Clouseau as was Herbert Lom as Chief Inspector Dreyfus who was being driven slowly insane by Clouseau.
@@clairejohnson6522 lol it’s only a small amount of folk who realise who the character really is and that it’s not my school photo 🤣 I actually aspire to the level of looks and manners of Harold’s dad played by Wilfred Brambles. Good day to you 🎩 👍🏴

Talking Heads are a classic group! David Byrne is amazing. Check out Road To Nowhere, Take Me To The River, Once In A Lifetime, Burnin Down The House. Byrne and his wife were not only in this band together but were in another band together as well.
David Byrne is a genius … If you listen to more of his stuff and watch his movie (True Stories), you will understand. He is a performance artist and one of the best!
Here's a great little short (8-minute) film about Tina, which also features her husband and bandmate, Chris, who's from Fort Campbell, KY: ua-cam.com/video/rY_BfWwbCrw/v-deo.html It gives some background on the history of Talking Heads, as well as some trivia of how she came up with the bass line for Psycho Killer. Some more Tina Trivia: she and Chris formed a side project called The Tom Tom Club , and their song, Genius of Love, was sampled by Mariah Carey in "Fantasy," and recently by Latto in "Big Energy." ua-cam.com/video/ECiMhe4E0pI/v-deo.html
Thanks for the links! Cool information. Didn't realize Genius of Love was part of her work (barely remember the name Tom Tom Club, and certainly didn't know of the Talking Heads connection).
@@joekuul8769 My pleasure! I was really young when it first came out, so I wasn't really aware of it at that time, but when Mariah Carey's song came out, I was like, " Wait -- I've heard this before."
You have to watch them live, this band was made to play live, especially with the awesome guest musicians. Try Crosseyed And Painless live in Rome 1980.
This was one of my suggestions, I thought it might be just weird enough for the Halloween songs. There is a live version of this that is a movie he made of a concert, It is awesome. Happy Halloween Guys!
Guys you need to hear, "Take Me To The River", originally it was an Al Green song, but Talking Heads with Tina Weymouth sets it perfectly.. Here is the Link to the Remaster ua-cam.com/video/v4azbl96BJY/v-deo.html or you can find it live... your choice..
You guys ought to check out the live version of this done on the BBC's "Old Grey Whistle test" in 1978 I think which is much better than the album version.
Best all time Halloween song is "D.O.A." by Bloodrock. Yeah, Byrne was a little weird, you should watch some of their concert footage--which puts me in mind of Sparks--performances were kind of funny and a little spooky. And if you want really weird, try Bryne's album with Brian Eno, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. "Jezebel Spirit" is awesome.
Another New Wave band with ;thematic' songs, is Tubeway Army, try "Me, I Disconnect From You", the lead singer is Gary Numan. Give it a listen to. You must listen to the live version (London 1979) Me I Disconnect From You.
A correction for you guys; the first written Talking Heads song is actually Love -> Building on Fire (Love Goes to Building on Fire), and it is is another a really good track from this same album, that I think you guys should check out !
Psycho Killer "What is that?" is the most repeated French line. The extended French part is: What I did that night What she said that night Realizing my hope I spear to glory
This is probably their quirkiest song (that I know of), and they Are quirky!....most guys seems to love this one tho. I agree with everyone else who recommends watching their movie (or at least individual songs from) "Stop Making Sense"; you will dig it!
I usually turn the channel if i hear this. It is good, but doesn't really hit. I did enjoy your breakdown of it tonight. Good for Halloween. It really is in a lot of movies... Kinda liked the very beginning (don't know if i ever listened in it's totality). Kinda like the ba ba bas... His voice is different and kinda cool. I like their song "Wild Wild Life"! (Not Jacques Cousteau... He is the Famous Marine Biologist who had his own show. Inspector Cluseau is the Pink Panther. (Unless you meant Inspector Gadget)... Too far. 😄)
When y’all’s heads were in sync it was the most satisfying thing I’ve ever witnessed
This song is fantastic. I have always loved it. Worth seeing the live version on Stop Making Sense.
The entire Stop Making Sense concert is a great intro to Talking Heads
Best concert film ever.
Pure luck that I was there. Got my boyfriend tix for his birthday, and turns out they were filming the concert. (We/the audience had to sign waivers.)
I concur!
It is I saw the tour live and it was phenomenal!!!!
A work of genius!
"Psycho Killer" is on my playlist that I listen to while making dinner. Something about it relaxes me.
I think Im afraid of your spice rack...
🤣
Their biggest hits are “Burning Down the House”, “Take Me to the River”, “Once In A Lifetime”, “Life During Wartime”, And She Was” and “Wild Wild Life”.
Their biggest and only top 10 hit in the UK:- Road to Nowhere.
And Nothing But Flowers, featuring that lovely jangly guitar playing from Johnny Marr of The Smiths.
Wild Wild Life good too

That's what I thought this reaction would be

It's a weird the first time u hear it but it grows on you trust me
You guys are HILARIOUS! Jacques Cousteau, Nancy Drew and Van Helsing........3 of the world's greatest detectives! I'm dying!! LOL
My favorite line in this song is "I hate people when they're not polite." :)
A quote from Ed Gein in fact
You mean INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU 😆 , Jacques Cousteau was a famous old French diver and documentary maker from the 50’s and 60’s….. awesome 😎

05:43 "Van Helsing?" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Oh, Ty you killed me man. Just brilliant, lmfao!
Great band... but Tina Weymouth is simply fantastic in bass. Can recommend watching the Stop Making Sense concert film!
Great band.....do more...........i cant remember song names. u will hear why. Unique is the word I'd use to describe them
after being stalked online by a psychopath this song has a whole new meaning. Thanks guys for covering this.
David Byrne being from Scotland explains a lot. They never seemed like an ‘American’ band; very avant garde and out-there.
He grew up in Baltimore, they moved when he was very young.
Famous fictional detective: Columbo.
Life during wartime is the song!!! Has a bit of everything...just saying...rock on boys...😊

0:51 - They may be considered one the pioneering bands of New Wave, but I always thought of them more as pioneers of Alternative Rock.
Tina Weymouth, great bass player , cutie pie and went on to great success with Tom Tom Club
👍🏴
Thank you! You guys are a riot!
This album was a game changer when it came out, you had to be there. Nothing like it at the time. Great stuff
I was 14 when The Making Sense Concert came out. It gave me nightmares. I have PTSD from this band 😂😂😂
This song grows on you ...
The Stop Making Sense version (and really the whole concert film) is a must.
I have heard this and "Psycho Chicken" hilarious one.
"Pulled Up" is another banger track from Talking Heads: 77.

So unique. David Byrne is an amazing talent. Their catalog has so many songs that you can karaoke without any problem.
Two Talking Heads tangents worth checking out are "Tom Tom Club" and a movie called "True Stories" - definitely entertaining.
You want to hear something unique from this band (besides this song) hit the live version of Born Under Punches.
