Wow. Loved this video guys. We - my wife Linds and I - met you at a parking lot in Pinedale this summer. We shared van tours (we have a black Promaster) and you all generously shared a brick of coconut fiber for our toilet! So generous!

We are very happy to share this experience with you and your sister! You should have a wonderful time in Yellowstone together. If possible we recommend several days. This park is huge and so many cool things and animals to see. We hurried through and have regretted it. This means we will have to go back😂
Great video, this has been on my bucket list since I studied photography and saw pictures of it in the early 80's. The videos aren't the same without Dave in them.

This was breathtaking amazing. Reminds me of the Badlands in South Dakota. But for some reason, it seems I have been there in my National Park trip back in the early 90's. Not sure though. But it was beautiful thanks for taking us along. Nice to get away from real life for a bit. Yep I was right we did The Needles, and then The Wave. I knew it was familiar. I have pictures tucked away. But would have to go through them to find them. So yeah this was before digital cameras are the way they are now.

Been there at lottery few times. Finally we have the permit, but then again the pandemic won’t let us travel. Lucky enough they gave us a rain check when ever it’s possible to travel... we’re coming from Canada and we’re almost in house arrest. Can’t wait to travel again.
The wave hike will surely be worth the wait! If you can go there a day early and do the slot canyon hike at Wire Pass. It's awesome as well and on the same trail. We look forward to you getting your travel freedoms back. Hang in there. 😀

Question? They issue tickets but I didn’t see anyone else there? Did you just not see anyone or just didn’t get anyone in your videos? Just wondering.

It's a big place! And they only issue 20 tickets per day.
we only saw 8 people the whole day! You were basically there by yourself. I am sure you can get a guide to the slot canyon as well. We ran into a guy who also won a permit....he did hire a guide who gave us some pointers on where to find some of the destinations like the alcove, and melody arch. I guide we spoke to also does search and rescue in the area.
I would say a guide is worth it if you can afford it. You have limited time and they will know the shortest and best route to see the area.
Stunning! Took a group jeep tour through the Az Slot Canyons awhile back. Those too were unbelievably beautiful!

If all 4 of you had been able to go...what would have done with the dogs? I dont have a problem leaving dogs in the vehicle weather permitting ...but there are always people out there that feel they need to "rescue". It's my one worry when I hit the road.
Dogs are allowed to go but you also that to pay $7 for each dog. No way would we have left the dogs for 10 hours. Since Dave stayed back it was a nice opportunity to go dogless! We did miss Dave though.... just not the same without him!

Wow. This is on my bucket list. But before I do this, I want to do my first thing on my bucket list. Number one swim out to the middle of the ocean with swimmies on my arms. If I succeed, number 2 is climb Mount Everest and slide down the mountain on a sled. If I am still alive I would like to go into a lion cage with one hundred hungry lions and if I succeedi I would like to enter the lottery and hike the wave.

We were not lucky to get a permit this past Sept but did score a permit to Coyote Butte South which is just south of the wave. There is a large wave there too called the Southern Wave. Only 20 permits are allowed in this area too. We also did Wire Pass and a little of Buckskin Gulch.
we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE wire pass and buckskin gulch. I think dave is going to try to schedule a backpacking strip down buckskin gulch all the way to Lees Ferry next spring. Did you need a 4X4 to make it to the southern wave? Utah is no amazing....so much to explore!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Yes, we did need a 4x4 and had to reduce tire pressure to 18 lbs. If you are in the area again, I highly recommend Coyote Butte South and go to the parking area of Cottonwood Cove. Paw Paw is not as dramatic as Cottonwood.
