A tracer projectile is constructed with a hollow base filled with a pyrotechnic flare material, made of a mixture of a very finely ground metallic fuel, oxidizer, and a small amount of organic fuel.
Soap doesn’t build pressure If you put soap in a sealed container of WARM water and shake it the bubbles from the soap help the water cool down leaving a little extra heat in the trapped air inside the container Pick up one of those barrels like donkey Kong and give it a shake next time 😂 You should try dry ice and water in a sealed plastic drum I think that might give some better results 🤷 Good to see you guys back in action
fun fact. 50bmg spotter rounds are both heavier and downloaded to replicate the trajectory of the main cannon by using the co-axial M2. they're also effective against light armored vehicles
The inceniary compound used in bullets is typically made of flashy boom boom powder, cram packed into the nose of the jacket. Either an impact primer or just friction from the impact will set it off.
Hooooooly shit! That high speed of the hydrostatic shock on the whisky barrel was nothing short of spectacular!! Good godfries I'd love to see that in something closer to 10-20k fps! The amount of water that immediately was yeeted between the staves was actually a bit surprising, yet the steel hoops held fast! Love you guys, always happy to see new posts from you two!
No one seems to have answered your question about how the spotter tracer projectile is constructed and what's in it. If your projectiles were from M48A1 .50 spotter tracer (12.7x76) cartridges/rounds, then here goes. The jacket is gilding metal, its weight approx 284 grains. The nose area holds an aluminium alloy cup, its weight approx 13.2 grains. The cup has a small amount of the impact (percussion) sensitive compound IM-163A in the tip area and below that the main red phosphorous-based incendiary compound IM-144, which weighs approx 32 grains. Present after the cup, and roughly in the middle, is a lead-antimony slug, which weighs approx 324 grains. Behind this, and in the rear area of the projectile is a steel tracer housing, which weighs approx 148.5 grains. The tracer housing holds the tracer igniter mix and the main tracer compound. The inner rear of the projectile is sealed with a thin cup.
I’m at work and just walked over to a plastic drum full of water and moved it a little. Long story short, the force it took to lift that barrel off the ground and get through 28” of water is mind numbing!
Copper thermite gives a blue/green flash, no sparks and orange smoke. White flash, little smoke and lots of sparks suggests titanium + oxidizer. Flash and lots of white smoke might be magnesium + oxidizer. Don't know about other formula, but the copper worked for me. Finely divided copper thermite is an explosive on its own merits.
Across The Pond over here in the UK , there are giant vegetable growing competitions. It would be fun to see how bullet resistant some of these are. I think the current world record for a Leek is 21 1/2 pounds. The world record carrot was grown in Minnesota and weighed 22 1/2 pounds. Imagine the amount of Coleslaw you could make with a .50 cal
I'm curios how those Spotter-Tracer's were loaded? The original use was in a semi-auto rifle mounted coaxially to a 106mm recoil-less rifle with the 50 round ballistically matched to the cannon round. Walk the tracers into the target then fire the main gun. IIRC the velocity is in the 1750 fps range and I load mine to this level but some people would run them at full velocity which then risks the occasional muzzle burst which can wreck a brake and be potentially dangerous to bystanders. Some lots seem to have issues with inconsistent tracer lighting and one of the tricks loading them is to punch a small hole in the copper disc that seals the base which then makes 100% ignition of the tracer with most powders. I use 5010 surplus powder and the Spotter -Tracers are a real crowd pleaser with loud report and easily watchable trajectory like mini-artillery. Good stuff!
After seeing what a single round does too the different drums just imagine what it would be like on the receiving end of a p-51 Mustang , Corsair,or a p-47 thunderbolt with 6 full auto 50bmgs, pure HELL our WWII veterans were amazing men and women 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Next time, can you lay the barrel down to see if the slug will pass though the barrel the long ways? I wonder if it would still make it though as easily.
@GoingBallistic The spotter tracer turned sideways when it entered the barrel. The cup you found was the compression cup with the explosive compound in it. If it ignited that barrel would have popped open more than what it did.
I feel sorry for the blue barrel, it could have served in the garden. Or she could keep people warm in winter, like in those old movies where everyone wears torn gloves by the campfire.😂😬
What kind of strange wooden barrel do you have, why is there ordinary water in it?🤨 Previously, I had only seen red wine from the shores of the Black Sea in such barrels.😂😉
I’ll give a like. But I think I can be sure that everyone who left the channel is still upset with Justin shooting for UA-cam getting paid because he can’t shoot for us.
This channel is so underrated. Love these guys.

Lol is that a chat gpt reply?
That slow motion shot on the whiskey barrel was super cool 😎
That whiskey barrel was some of the best slow motion video I've ever seen. I'm jealous.
Second that.
Scudoosh is the highly technical term for explode. I applaud you for the extraordinary intelligence. Great video, as always, guys.
Hydrostatic shots are amazing! All 3 shots were so interesting. The jump from the plastic barrel shows how much energy there is in a 50cal. 👍
Even the steel barrel jumped! 200L of water wants to come out because of the bullet.
С возвращением, ребята!

That whiskey barrel was pretty epic in slow mo guys. This video definitely deserves more likes and views
First thing that popped into my head was:
What if we did .50 BMG versus frozen solid Justin Jorts...
😂😂😂
A not so "wise man" once said, "Cut my jeans into pieces.. this is my ass in Jorts!" LOL.
Give the Gentleman a Thumbs Up!
Сразу лайк, рад вас видеть ребята!
Cool video friends!
Glad to see you again - as always.
God bless you!
Thanks! You too!
It’s great to see a video from you boys!!! It was a nice surprise on lunch break this evening🎉
I can't believe that the energy of that 50BMG picked up that heavy barrel filled with water 6 inches off the ground.
Splitting that plastic barrel was impressive, glad to see you guys back
Love when you guys bring out the 0.50 bmg
Great content as usual!
The whiskey barrel filming was one of your best to date!
Really fun to watch you guys shooting again!!
Running proper specs of headspacing all the time . Hahaha! Had me laughing . Awesome high speed on that whiskey barrel too. Keep em coming
slow-mo was epic

Odd, I never got a notification for this video. Only saw it beacuse of the latest video
Whiskey barrel was an artful bit of cinema!

Slow motion on the whiskey barrel...awesome.
You guys have way too much FUN!
We try.

I'm just grateful that you didn't destroy a barrel's worth of whiskey!
Slo-mo of the woodern barrel was pure art.
That muzzle brake is sick
Thank you guys so much for the new video! We've been waiting for this for a long time. Congratulations to everyone on the onset of warmth.👍
I came back to watch this, after seeing the impressive 20mm cannon shots
You came back, that's awesome!
Great video! Good to see ya both back!
I had to look up your channel up the other day to see if UA-cam unsubscribe from you guys. Happy to see you guys back.
Not getting notifications but dw i search you guys every couple days for fresh vids!! Keep it up!
Good to see you guys back 👍🏻
Glad to see you guys are back.

Really enjoy the slow motion!!! Fantastic...
Glad you enjoyed it
Welcome back you have been missed
Happy to see you again !
We got barrels!
We got monkeys with pew pews! 🐒
Let’s go!
Thank you gentlemen 🙏

The whiskey barrel reaction was a lot more violent than I expected.
They're filled with Boom Boom Sauce.
Great footage again!!

I came back for the jorts. Didn’t see any jorts, but I’ll get over it. Shooting was nice though.

GB. Very good and fun video. Thanks for sharing. Guys take care.
Thanks, you too!
слоумо с бочкой из под виски, действительно, потрясающее!
"She's a beaut Clark" 😂
Next time, can you lay the barrel down to see if the slug will pass though the barrel the long ways? I wonder if it would still make it though as easily.
Wwould the barrel split apart if you had the opened a couple of holes on top?
That's first time I see jumping barrels :D
Allways fun ... Thx!
This one kinda makes me wonder about the old movie trope of shooting powder barrels ...
A whiskey barrel explodes. Voice-over: I love cognac.😁
По деревянной бочке прям неожиданно круто прилетело! Прям "во все щели", которых сначала не было)
LOVE your videos! I live less than 15 miles from you. If you ever want it, I have a "bullet proof" humvee windshield. Say the word.
@GoingBallistic The spotter tracer turned sideways when it entered the barrel. The cup you found was the compression cup with the explosive compound in it. If it ignited that barrel would have popped open more than what it did.
And the wood barrel was Cool !
you are awesome!!!! продолжайте !!!
Wonder if the outcome would have been different hitting them long ways so the bullets didn't exit and expanded more
Exactly 👍
С деревянной бочкой особенно красиво получилось.
Диоген огорчён, вы разрушили его дом 🤣
The force of the bullet must have made a super sonic wave that caused it to bust open while exiting.
Lead Styphonate or RDX? You choose
No slow mo soundtrack? S'okay, still a great vid!
Some people complain about it. I don't mind either way.
I feel sorry for the blue barrel, it could have served in the garden. Or she could keep people warm in winter, like in those old movies where everyone wears torn gloves by the campfire.😂😬
FYI, it would NOT be awesome if it was full of whiskey, it would be painful! Good choice on the water!
Cool. She skeeted out of every Crack.
Very cool!!!
I love it.
Reminds me of pop up pirate for some reason
Whiskey barrel was badass guys
Thanks
What kind of strange wooden barrel do you have, why is there ordinary water in it?🤨 Previously, I had only seen red wine from the shores of the Black Sea in such barrels.😂😉
these has whisky in them. when we first got it, it smelled great.
Whiskey barrel vs raufoss 50 bmg
So shooting fishbin a barrel would not be so easy. And doesn't this guy look like Officer Greg?
Если бы там было пиво то на это было бы больно смотреть 😂
Awesome
Next time add food coloring to the water. Looks better on high-speed.
SOAP? Soap will break the surface tension of water making the droplets smaller. (No pressure)
good to know. Thanks!
I want to know why this never showed up in my feed.
LibTube
Phosphorous. Don't cut into one. It ignites when it reaches air.
Such fun
Kaboom!!!!!
roufous round vs 50 gallon barrel
Whiskey barrel❤
I’ll give a like. But I think I can be sure that everyone who left the channel is still upset with Justin shooting for UA-cam getting paid because he can’t shoot for us.
Unfuckin real slomo. I just wanna know how you got those full barrels out there and handled them. Or were they filled over several range trips?
Guys, don't missing so long. We start to worrying
2 Thumbs Up!!!
What a let down on the first 2
👍🏻
noice
🤘👴🤘
😀
