Just in case people had some inflated expectations about this helmet, let me clarify the background a bit. First of all, the Altyn was designed for internal troops and special forces. That is, for people who storm houses and fight in closed spaces. It was assumed that law enforcers would fight against criminals, terrorists, armed mostly with pistols, hunting rifles and only in rare cases with automatic assault rifles. And since such operations are fast, the Russians decided to protect the head of the wearer to the maximum with available materials at the time without really putting attention to it weight. Therefore, it is configured to protect the wearer's head from all sides, including the face. Since the helmet appeared in the 90s, and it was first seen in 1993 during the Constitutional crisis of Russia, it kind of predetermined the material from which the "Altyn" family would be made - titanium, a rare and very hard metal, which is abundant in Russia. However, life takes its course, and, unfortunately, the helmet, as well as their owners, will often be used in combat actions against which it was not really created (admittedly, few weapons and equipment created by the Soviets and Russians are used for their intended purpose). In the 2000s, Kevlar helmets gradually began to supplant titanium helmets because of their lighter weight and supposedly better protection. Some special forces operators and ex internal troops remain of the opinion that the titanium helmet family should have been further developed. Edit: I was corrected, it's not "Altyn," it's К6-3, or 6Б6-3 made out titan. "Altyn" is metal version of the helmet.

Scott, imagine doing a video with the 4 bore shooting a Ford 7.3 diesel that was considered indestructible. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object
For comparison, the KS-23 was made using spare 23mm anti-aircraft barrels and is roughly a 6.3 gauge or bore. That means this rifle’s caliber is larger than an anti-aircraft caliber round.
Makes sense, since the 4-Bore is pretty much twice the diameter of a .50 cal, leaving it somewhere around 25mm, or about the size of the main gun on a Bradley 😂 Edit: that gives me an idea... along the same vein where you can *technically* fire a .50 cal through a 12 gauge, right? Well....
For the KS-23 carbine, barrels were selected that were rejected by military acceptance and were not suitable for the Army. I was a KS-23 operator in the special forces of the Soviet police in 90-95. And I was also a PKM machine gunner.
In real Life this helmet did his job very good. This is used in anti riot situations or shoot out events. This Is what it was designed for.....so. good job including the destructive test, useful to see the limit of this Gear.

The water in the cans took all the energy and distributed it. There wasn’t enough power to push the titanium aside, but the projectile had likely expanded from hitting the cans. It had a larger surface area and couldn’t penetrate the titanium.

-''Well, today i will shot some random stuff with my 4 Bore!''
Scott's shoulder
-''Here we go again...'''
I believe there is an even bigger 2-bore rifle out there. It is as comically huge as you would imagine. Ian from Forgotten Weapons did a video on it some years ago. But he could barely even hoist thing to his shoulder and IIRC never tried shooting it. Mad props for abusing your shoulder with this monster.
Do you mean the Punt gun?
@@jagc1969 that's not even a rifle, nor really a "firearm" tbh. That's a rifle shaped cannon , which is loaded like a cannon and everything. And also no a punt gun is like a 0 gauge shotgun lol (they also made them of varying sizes) some couldn't even be lifted by this hulking guy.
@@jagc1969 but idk what hes referring to, I'm just saying the punt gun couldn't be classified as a rifle and is loaded from the barrel like a cannon. Although there are some very large shotguns similar to this (which they really didn't know wether to call them shotguns or rifles) like a 2-8 gauge shotgun. An 8 gauge shotgun is practically speaking this same gun.
@@willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 Thanks a lot for the information. I would like to see those shotguns...
@@jagc1969 you're very welcome, yeah the 8 gauge shotgun was the original "elephant gun", and its a slug gun , so they almost considered it a rifle lol
Her: "Babe i swear you are my first one!"
Him: 10:19
Scott, imagine doing a video with the 4 bore shooting a Ford 7.3 diesel that was considered indestructible. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object
For comparison, the KS-23 was made using spare 23mm anti-aircraft barrels and is roughly a 6.3 gauge or bore.
That means this rifle’s caliber is larger than an anti-aircraft caliber round.
Makes sense, since the 4-Bore is pretty much twice the diameter of a .50 cal, leaving it somewhere around 25mm, or about the size of the main gun on a Bradley 😂
Edit: that gives me an idea... along the same vein where you can *technically* fire a .50 cal through a 12 gauge, right? Well....
@@RobbieRR26,4 мм. Старые пули к дымному пороху могли весить 100- 120 грамм. Именно грамм.
Considering that .30 rifle caliber machine guns where used in anti aircraft role through WWII, the "anti aircraft caliber" won't say much by itself.
Why
For the KS-23 carbine, barrels were selected that were rejected by military acceptance and were not suitable for the Army. I was a KS-23 operator in the special forces of the Soviet police in 90-95. And I was also a PKM machine gunner.
In real Life this helmet did his job very good. This is used in anti riot situations or shoot out events. This Is what it was designed for.....so. good job including the destructive test, useful to see the limit of this Gear.
Pure fun, Scott, thanks for the video👍! Especially the slow motions are impressive. Kind regards from Germany, Frank
Dude, I’ve been subscribed for quite a while. I’m confident that back of the helmet shot was the best video you’ve ever captured! The spine nearly pulled out of the torso was epic! Great work, hope it’s all going well. Stay safe!
Agreed, he really needs to get a proper slow mo! Would make his content exponentially better. Scott is probably one of the best already
I would like to see how Matt, Brandon and others would handle the hardest recoiling rifles that Scott has
I said the same thing
The answer is simple: they wouldn't 😂
brandon maybe.. you have to think. it really hurts scott so someone smaller should not fire it
Kentucky Ballistics is awesome. Everyday before work a couple years agao, before I even got ready for work, I started my day with Kentucky Ballistics. I'm an ex Bounty Hunter, and a huge fan of this channel. Thank you Scott for giving us so much fun content and I am so glad you are alive brother. I hope you had a good Christmas.
*_Ballistics are soo wiiiild!_*
*_This was one hell of a video once again!_*
*_Homie straight up felt so much energy transfer from the last shot that he did a headstand!😅_*
It would be interesting to see what performance you could get from a 4 bore FMJ.
That wouldn't be far off a ww2 anti tank rifle at that point lol
Ya know… the winter time.. I bet you can hear that 4 bore in space! 😂
Even if 4 bore hadnt penetrated, the kinetic shock would have shaken your brain to a pulp.
Need some reaaly soft anti kinetic padding thrn
Props to the zombie head. For his neckbones to take the whiplash from that massive energy dup is impressive. I would have bet he couldn't hold the helmet up for the second 4-bore shot. Also, impressive field goal on the last shot. Centered directly over the barrel.
This is just another step on the journey of a man who seeks to build up a natural resistance to all recoil.
I don't really care what you shoot with the 4 bore, it just makes my day to see an upload from you!
That's not a bullet that's a mortar round 😅
Scott, 4 Bore request: For science (of course) How many cans of nacho cheese does it take to stop a 4 Bore round? Along with, which condiment is the most 4 Bore round resistant?Keep doing what you do 😁👍‼
The individual frames when that round hit the back of the helmet are INSANE. There's 3-4 truly epic frames in a row with a perfect starburst effect.
Any time the name "4 BORE" is in the title, you know it´s gonna be a good video, and this one certainly didn´t disappoint one bit. It would be really interesting to see the 4Bore vs. an engine block, gun safe/wault
14:36 when you punch the boxing bag and it comes back full force, lol!
8:50 Now I want some lime jello, seriously.
One day you'll have to pit the 4 bore against the NTW-20 with its specialty 20x82mm which comes in HEI (high-explosive incendiary) as well as SAPHEI (semi-armor piercing high explosive incentiary) both of which also have tracer variants!
Someting tells me that simply stopping the 4 bore is not going to save you.
I suspect the culprit is waaaaay too much force.
I imagine the neck wouldn’t be very structurally sound any longer .
@@Error_404-F.cks_Not_Foundit's not your neck that's the issue it's your brain bouncing around inside your skull until it turns to jello
The force of the bullet hitting the helmet alone would likely give you an instant and lethal concussion.
I've said it before, the 4-bore doesn't so much as "defeat" the armor, but "recruits" it and takes the armor along for the ride.
That 4 bore is nasty work!
The slow motion on this video was awesome! The second one just made me laugh with the helmet flying a quarter of a football field. Good stuff as always, Scott!
Scott, you’re awesome brother. Been a subscriber since the very beginning, and as usual, You never disappoint. Keep’’em coming dude. Merry Christmas, and God bless you and the family 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Ah yes, Kentucky Ballistics. The only channel in which I hit the “like” button the moment the video starts. Scott never fails to deliver.
Edit: And thank you so much for taking the pain with these beyond ridiculous guns so we don’t have to. I mean, my 500 mag is fun to shoot, but I don’t think anyone could pay me to shoot the 4 bore, price of ammunition included.
Scott must be the most chill dude everywhere outside the range. Talk about destruction therapy 💯 😂
I just love how the helmet literally explodes, the round just going through it like it’s nothing, awesome gun and an awesome video thanks Scott!
That last one is, without a doubt, in the top 5 of your awesome slo-mo shots. Maybe top 3. If you can find another helmet, maybe the Slo Mo Guys would want in on this 4 Bore Russian equipment carnage.
between the shotgun breaking last video and the helmet breaking too early this episode, I'm worried something is going to happen
11:53 put playback speed at x .25 again and you can watch the projectile almost the entire way from muzzle to helmet. I lose it in the aftermath but it seems to mushroom and land on the table. Some of the best slow motion shots I’ve ever seen. Prolly helps how freaking huge that projectile is.
Edit: I was right! If you watch the slow mo at x.25 playback speed closely, you can the projectile coming out the front of the helmet after it hits the lip, causing it to mushroom and leave the dent at the point of impact. Can even see it land on the table.
Thank you Scott for sacrificing your shoulder for our entertainment.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Scott .
This video is the true definition of "Unstoppable Force vs. Immobile Object"
Scott is the immovable object lol
Dont you mean immovable object lol
It's always amazing to see Scott's videos because he answers so many unasked questions and it's awesome that Scott can deal with the recoil 🤣 purely insane
@@karlwithak. at least that way we could see which round would cause a TBI or turn the soldier into a canoe
@karlwithak. a TBI stands for traumatic brain injury and canoe involves an enemy half of a soldier's head going missing due to a heavy caliber round going through it
Love the Gallagher hammer, definitely gotta break that out more often. You should develop a mechanical swing mechanism that swings the hammer at different forces to test stuf
I'd like to see the 4-bore vs a reinforced cinderblock wall.
The 4-bore is absolutely absurd.....I love it!!
Scott's really testing the definition of the word "Temporary cavity" in this episode
You accidentally discovered Zildjian's secret cymbal formula. Turns out the secret ingredient is Titanium.
Scott, it would be awesome to see a machined copper or brass solid for the 4-Bore. Something that won't give and fold in on itself. I also hoped to see something like that for the 700...
Considering the Altyn is defeated by 5.45 PS ammo, can't imagine it surviving much at all.
Hey Scott, amazing video as always. Here’s a fun fact about your 4 Bore safari gun. Back in the final years of World War I Americans and British soldiers would use safari guns such as the 4 bore as armor piercing rounds since conventional weapons were practically useless.
I love this channel, him.doing the things he loves with guns and level up the testings!
Shout out to Ballistic High-Speed. That was gnarly. Glad Adam is ok and recovering.
9:33 I said it and I'll say it again, You just need a little Tylenol.
I know the ammo for this thing is crazy expensive, dont know if it would ever be possible (either to get or able to be shot from the 4bore) but it would be amazing to see different types of ammo some day. The 4 bore case has lots of room for activities... I mean, its basically a huge smoothbore right? If there is anyone who would do it, it would be Scott.
It's rifled, not smoothbore.
@@VenKando thanks for the info, maybe something with a sabot then?
The water in the cans took all the energy and distributed it. There wasn’t enough power to push the titanium aside, but the projectile had likely expanded from hitting the cans. It had a larger surface area and couldn’t penetrate the titanium.
Sir, that helmet is now a work of art, it should be properly displayed for future generations to marvel at!
Это ружьё -- просто произведение искусства! Этот калибр уже относится к ручной артиллерии -- поэтому, чтобы от него спастись на голову нужно надевать башню от танка
Hiding in a tank is a good idea
bro basically said it's a really big gun, artillery level of power. it's art, and to stop that massive of a round you'd need a tank on your head to stop it@@JL-ei7hy
@@JL-ei7hy "This gun is simply a work of art! This caliber already belongs to hand artillery - therefore, in order to escape from it, you need to put a tank turret on your head"

"how much damage will it do?"
