Stacy Kelsey if I had to give my personal favorites it would be the lip glass, blushes, mineralized skinfinishes, and fix plus. oh and the prep and prime highlighting pen. oh and stobe cream is bomb.
ry velasquez same exact thing with me girl and the mac face and body and the white one too for mixing. Only foundation I ever liked from them it's not heavy in the slightest and looks like skin. Wish there were paler and darker shades in that line. Omega eyeshadow for contouring and eyebrows sometimes and soft brown eyeshadow for a warm transition color in the crease. I do like soft and gentle highlight and lightscapade.
I quite adore Fix +, its not for " fixing " make up. I use it for pigments and eye-shadow, and to refresh the face. It brings back life to makeup thus enhancing longevity, also I really love the smell. Its very versatile as well, you can make a matte foundation look dewy without it creasing all over the place.
I used to be a loyal Mac fan back when they recycled and did not test on animals. My experience and opinion changed recently, but not just because they changed their ethics; the consultants at the counter are rude and argumentative. I'm fair (strawberry blonde with freckles) , but they insist I'm medium and refuse to sell me the colour I want. Wasted too much money on foundation and blush that's way too dark and orangey; leaves me looking like Crusty the Clown! Now I wouldn't buy their products if they were the last makeup company on earth. Better cosmetics are out there, and I found them!
Hiya! There is a lot of confusion with Fix+ and is one of the most commonly returned items at mac. It is a hydrating mist NOT a makeup setting spray, it will definitely make your makeup separate and melt off if it is used to set because of the hydrating properties. It IS supposed to be used as you are using it, to take away a powdery cast, speed up oxidation of foundation, spray brushes before shadow, foundation and pigments, or just be used to hydrate the skin. As a mac artist it is partially our fault because people continue to market it as a setting spray and it is not supposed to be used as such ends up disappointing customers. Just a helpful hint (:
Kimmy Khaira I know! I guess I just like to be honest because its gonna get returned anyway haha as of right now MAC does NOT have a makeup setting spray just two hydrating mists, fix + for all skin and the mineralize charged water for dry skin or i really like the charged water as a primer if you're just using a powder foundation because it dries tacky so it holds on to the powder really nicely and doesn't look cake
Ahhh Wayne… binging /catching up on your videos after years of being inactive (for the most part) on UA-cam. I am having such nostalgia! I remember watching my favorite UA-cam beauty gurus every day during college (2006-2010). Isn’t it just insane how much this platform has evolved... I kind of feel like granny over here trying to navigate it, “have fun” by exploring, etc. Where has the damn time gone haha? SO awesome what all you’ve done! It’s like I never missed a beat… you are still YOU. Have the same platform, personality, filming style. Thanks so much for posting!
I think I might be the only person who has yet to find a MAC product that's actually good... A friend of mine keeps raving about how absolutely awesome they are (and they look great on her), but every single product I've ever tried has been HORRIBLE. Their "you will never ever get it off" eye liner smudged horribly within minutes of applying it, their pressed powders didn't work for me at all, their lip primer actually made my navy blue lipstick bleed so I looked like an insane clown (I'd never had that issue until I tried their primer, ironically), and the list goes on.
I love the fact that you go straight to point, i mean many beauty gurus go on blabbing a bit to much and i hate to watch a 15 min video when it could last only four. That's why you are my fave guru on youtube!
I adore Mac products, some hit and miss items but generally I have good results with them. I don't have as much as I used to but I keep a stash of essential bits. I've ran out of soft and gentle so need to buy that again.
You know why i like you wayne? Because you speak the truth. Most beauty gurus just say all these makeup products are wonderful and great, but you tell it like it is. Love your videos!
I LOVE how you're always right on point with your videos. You don't blabber on about unrelevant things for 5 minutes before the actual video starts. And you're videos are always so useful too :) x
Goss could you please make a video explaining the different uses for all the brushs. there seems to be soo many different kinds and i dont know how or when to use them lol. i only have one foundation brush and one eyeshaddow brush id buy more but i dont know what they are for so ... so whenever you have the time i would greatly appreciate it :) love you!!
Never ever to get away from Goss because I LOOK UP HIS VIDEOS FOR ANYTHING! But if you want more info about brushes (I think good prices, kits, singles) look up Pixiwoo video's (there are many of them!). Brushes: Realtechniques Besides Goss, my absolute fav's, and fantastic prices: makeupgeek.com pixiwoo.com I have BOTH MAC and Makeup Geek products (MUG) and they are so similar it's amazing and the price!! Check it out!!! Love you GOSSMAN, PIXIWOO - COULDN'T LEARN ANYTHING WITHOUT YOU GUYS!!
You know what surprises me? That you have not been approached (or have you?) by a cosmetic company or developer to sponsor you to create your own line of products and tools. Who better to design better beauty products and tools that someone who uses them daily as part of their trade? Many outstanding like this have already been developed by other beauty professionals ~ think hair implements, air brush systems, etc. ~ and I for one would love to see what you could do if properly financed and promoted. i think you are smart with the videos you make, i appreciate your thought that you put into them and like how you draw a new and interesting angle to the same products that everyone talks about all the time. thank you!
Yeah MUG is great. And I've swatched nars. Saving up for those because they ARE worth the money! And you get more too. Kiko is great too check them out
big bounce is best used over the top of a shadow (i hated them when they came out & have been obsessed now that they no longer carry them) - right in the center near the lash line, love your videos!!!
MAC annoys me with how they take the mick of their customers. I went in last week to buy a spoolie, not thinking for one moment to ask the price. When she rang it up it was £12.00 - yes £12.00!!! Seriously, for what is essentially a pipe cleaner? These come free on the end of most eye brow pencils! It's the ethos of taking the customer to the cleaners that gets me. I now use Makeup Geek eye shadows which are way better and half the price - I find MAC is mostly not worth the cost. And the fix plus is easily replaced by Avene's mister; again at less than half the price.
+Shell Bell should've gone to Sephora. They have end caps full of spoolies lol that are there for you to test stuff so you could have gotten one for free.
Dude one time I bought a couple things from Sephora and it rang up to 50$ so I was like wtf did I actually buy. The expensive shit was like eye pencil sharpener and eyelash glue etc.
MAC Full Coverage Foundation/Studio Finish Concealer is my favourite Make-up product ever! Never found anything else that looked so natural while covering so much and lasting for so long (both on the skin and in the pot).
Although the name is confusing, fix+ isn't intended to be a fixing spray. It's a multi-purpose vitamin infused water, mainly used for refreshing makeup and adding a dewy finish or to be used wet with powder products :)
I am deep skin coloured (NC/NW 50) and absolutely love Studio tech for my oily skin. I only just started using it and wish I had like 5 years ago. Its my new fav product from MAC. Goes on so light but the coverage is so perfect and sets perfectly with Studio Fix or mineralize powder. Really keeps my oily skin fresh unlike NARS products. Thanks for the post!
Thank you so much for these tips. Now I have an "ammo-list" when I go to the beauty stores this weekend. I'm new to MAC makeup tho I've used the Studio Pwdr Fndtn before. Eyebrow pencils seem a must - avoided them before & used powders only but ur eyebrow tutorial is GREAT. ALL your tutorials are lifesavers is some way for me, alot of knowledge & advice in one place done QUICKLY is wonderful. You are AMAZING & I'm a new fan for life!! Have a Beautiful Day! :)
+Xxmilkshake202xX Fix means set your makeup. Fix+ is not for that, the problem is that it has a bad name because we are used to 'fix' anything being for setting makeup. The product is not for that at all. All fix + does is dew the color out and thin it.
I don't really like mac because they make SOO much money and they still test on animals and this is absolutely unnecessary. It really bugs me because their products are really good.
I totally agree. Also I don't get what the fuzz is all about. I had an eyeshadow trio once. it was good, but not 30 $ good. Same with the gel liner. But as long as people buy their make up they don't need to change.
You should really check their statement on animal testing on their website. They are really trying to change the game when it comes to animal testing, while other brands would just much rather ignore the whole problem they are really trying to find a solution to this problem.
Hey hun I'm no expert either but since you said that you don't need much coverage and you don't like the feel of make up on your face I'd say try a tinted moisturizer. Nars is a really good one because it's lightweight and also evens out skin. It also has spf 30. It's $42 at Sephora for 1.9 oz of product which is not bad considering that their foundation is $42 for 1 oz. of product. Hope that helped.
MAC makes so much money and they CAN afford not to test on animals, they are great products but surely they can clinically test instead of on innocent poor animals that have no voices x
Would you rather a human end up blind or lose all the skin on their face? You are being unspeakably cruel toward humans. Care more about people than animals at all times and under all circumstances - no exceptions, ever, ever - and become a more decent person. Anyone who puts an animal's life before a human's health is a monster.
MAC does not test on animals, all makeup you by from MAC in America and Europe is safe and NOT testet on animals. But, if you buy something in Asia, then it is, because they test everything on animals, even toothbrushes.
+Loralee Bergdall Animal testing is still the most effective way. Human testing is very limited. There is only so much that they are allowed to do regardless of what a human consents too.
Totally agree with you on the fix+. Bought it and then took back. That's what I get for asking my makeup guru first lol I am a huge fan of Mac eyeshadows. Love love love them! So I always live seeing tutorials o Mac products. Keep them coming and thank you for what you do for us girls :)
Jjulia Weid I love it when I wear high coverage make up after using UDs setting sprays and wearing that make up for hrs and want to scratch my face off. Fix plus makes my face feel normal again. Also it makes my bright shadow pop and last a little longer along with uds setting sprays. Mac should really advertise this as a skin refresher lol not setting spray
I'm not all about cruelty free products, but I understand. Is not just (read with a dramatic voice) END CRUELTY FOREVER, because is quite impossible. Is about reduce cruelty.
Why reduce? You are thinking emotionally, not logically. If there wasn't any cruelty in this world, it wouldn't be sustainable. A bear eats salmon to sustain itself. Someone calls this cruelty. I call it "procedure for sustaining life in planet". A person eats meat to sustain himself. And of course he makes products out of animals to sustain himself. It's a matter of survival. You are programmed to protect yourself by any means. You know evolution? Reducing "cruelty" means going against your nature.
I feel like fix+ should be on the best mac products but only for dry skin... Its used as a refresher/finishing mist or to fix makeup when it's looking a little dull/powdery so i absolutely love it for face or eyeshadows. I think it's definitely not meant for oily skin!!!
One of my favorite things from mac are the mac loose pigments. You know, like MAC ROSE or MAC FROST. So pretty. They blend really nicely and add just the right amount of shimmer to the eye as long as the rest of your makeup (bronzer and blush especially) isn't too sparkly already.
I don't see what all the hype about MAC being such a great brand and quality of make up is about. I have been disappointed with ALL the MAC products I have ever bought and tried. All the foundations look very heavy and cakey, the eye shadows are either not pigmented enough or don't blend. I have had some components I have opened brand new and they are dried out already. I will never buy or use MAC products anymore. Not worth the hype in my experience. Keep up the great videos.
The mac prep and prime eye primer works well for me! My eyeshadow lasts all day, because I don't have oily lids, but it does crease...the eye primer stops the eyeshadow from creasing!:)
My favorite Mac product so far, and makeup product of all, is the Prep and Prime Line filler. I use it under my eyes and anywhere I have lines, after everything else; corrector, concealer, foundation and powder. I learned that trick from a man on a Utube video about makeup on mature skin and he did this with a similar product from Givenchi and I decided to try it with my Mac one and it works awesomely. I even pop some on throughout the day to refresh
I use the prep and prime eye product just as a concealer! I tried using it as an actual eye primer, and I realized it did nothing to help. So I am glad I am not the only one that uses it as a concealer!!
Depends on the makeup artist. I used to work for MAC but they always told me in trainings it gets rid of the powdery look. Some ppl I guess weren't paying attention in class. And its not very good on oily skin bc of the castor oil in it. But its great on dry skin for hydration, not a moisturizer bc some ppl get that confused.
I would love for you to do a video on how to prevent premature aging, skincare, and overall good problems to address skin problems such as hyper-pigmentation,age spots, wrinkles, or to maintain healthy skin. Make up is wonderful but beautiful skin is better. Thank for make such passionate ,professional, and informative videos. Much love :)
Hey goss, I think it depends on what paint pot you're using. I love soft ochre paint pot! I actually use it as a primer. I am a girl who HATES creasing. soft ochre is a nice matte paint pot and it makes my eyeshadow look beautiful and stay on all day! I actually stopped using urban decay primer because of it. I do understand what you mean though because I have a shimmer one and can only use it on top of primer and as a base under eyeshadow :) but soft ochre is AMAZING!
Yes it's a great moisturizer (but might not be enough if you have really dry skin), that you can apply under your foundation... or simply with/as your everyday skincare product ! I have it and i personally apply it under foundation, and I apply some more over it as a highlight, on the top of my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose! It gives a really nice effect, even if you have really light skin like me :) xx
i bought them also. i do like the purpley grape color one. its gorgeous if used with UD purple and blues. I think its the watery consistency when applied thats so putting off
You've answered your own question! It's a type of highlighter, so you could wear it on your cheekbones or eyebrow bone. Goss make up artist has got a tutorial on highlighting if you need to have a look! x
I really like MAC Studio Fix Fluid, been using it for years as I can achieve natural look or build it up for more coverage, I didn't have any break outs from it. I used to have a bronzer picked by a Mac staff but Ive found it too orangey and heavy. Blushes and just lovely. With eyeshadows and lipsticks I have a love-hate relationship. Some are very pigmented and long-lasting (Ruby Woo, Heroine) and some just doesnt stay or ruin my lips (Pure Zen).
i have alot of stretch marks, and i did a little research and found out that stretch marks start out red,so its fresh. you can get rid of them by applying bio-oil or even coco butter lotion.
You have totally converted me to mac products! It's not cheap but I'm buying bits as and when my old make up runs out! Sooooo much better! (I used to be a bit of a Clinique girl!) x
After I apply my foundation and powder I like to apply Fix + and dry with the warm setting on my hair dryer. I melds with the other product and does make the look last longer, than if you just spray it on the face and let in dry on its own.
I definitely agree regarding Prep & Prime for eyes. Useless stuff. Paint pots work far better. I'll have to try out P&P for lips, though. I avoided it after buying P&P for eyes & face. I also love the natural Skinfinishes. I use Light Plus & Medium. Great stuff.
I love the color range of the MAC blushes. Unfortunately, I'm not capable of wearing it, it breaks me out. Although, I cannot say enough about the Studio Fix powder foundation. I love it!
I have very dry, peeling skin and I can use the Bare Esentuals Powders just fine, I would definately recommend their dry skin cream to put on under it. I works wonders!!!!
you could also try getting rid of them. use a sugar scrub on the stretch marks when in the bath or shower which removes all the dead skin and promotes healing, then use bio-oil as often as you can throughout the day. Mine have faded so much now to a skin tone shade from that routine so give it a try too (: x
It depends what you want for it. If you over powder your face (powder foundation etc), you can make it look more like skin as it 'melts' the powder. So it takes that powdery-over matte look away. But it does not make your makeup last longer. Hope this makes sense. :)
AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing your talent, people would pay good money for what you are sharing for free. I wondered whether you could do a wedding markup tutorial for normal/dry skin types. I have been asked by my best friend to do her makeup on the day, I am self taught by watching UA-cam videos and really want to do a good job for her, so some help on this one would be fab. Much love XXX
Fix+ was actually made to go with the Studio Fix line (hence the name), and to take down the very cakey look that the makeup can give you. I dont know why everyone is stuck on saying it's a setting spray, it's not. It doesn't even make that claim, it says "hydrating mist". love your videos! xo
MAC Fix+ is great with ProLongwear Foundations or any 24-Hour formula from any company because it releases it a little without ruining it's longevity on your skin. It's as if you're instantly into the 3rd hour of wear! (But I agree, fully. It does NOT make any makeup last longer. Haha. Good call!)
I agree with the Lustre. I love the colors, but the color payoff is awful, as well as the fallout. I love Fix+ and use it as a 'blend', and it does seem to 'fix' my makeup. But all the same, if you don't like it, it's your choice. Now, the eye primer sucks.... It's funny, I own it, but I ended up emptying it and getting some lipstick with 'back to MAC'. I tried UD (the apparent cult favorite) and liked it, but my favorite has been the e.l.f. one. Maybe it's the price. Love the blushes, love the shadows, just like you, and the brow pencils. Prep & Prime Lip is fantastic.
one of my first and favorite mac shadows has lustre finish and since then I usually preferred to try and buy these ones but I wasn't so excited in general (except from my big love: swimming) and never thought it was the finish...
Yea I actually work for Mac fix plus is not a setting spray people have some how made it out to be that but it's just a hydrating mist that's best if patted into the skin with a brush. It has many minerals and vitamins in it so it is very goof for the skin I honestly use it even if I'm not wearing makeup if I'm just working out its very refreshing and healthy for the skin.
You are spot on with your reviews. I will try the foundation you suggested. I need to get color matched. What do you think of the foundations and Mineralize Skinfinishes in the Feminine Face collection? I just bought the Skinfinishes in Gold Deposit and Lightscapade. I thought they would be a good bronzer and highlight respectively for me. I thought Soft and Gentle would wash out on me since I am a medium skin tone.
Fix+ spray is meant to get rid of the powdery look. That's what it was made for. Its not compatible with oily skin. If you read the ingredients it does contain castor oil. Its not oil free, so if you have oily skin always ask for oil free products.
It's funny that you mentioned the Mac prep+prime eye primer. I was reading a blog yesterday asking what the worst eye primers were and it kept coming up over and over!!!
Loooove this review! I'm gonna go out and try the fix plus :) Also, you MUST tell us where you got your diamond-studded hoop earring, please!! Thank you!
Forever my favorite youtube mua you always just get right into the topic, I hate the over chatty rambling personas.
D Steez no chatter boxes 📦 allowed 😂
Same here. Wayne is simply the best.
Can you do an updated video of this?
Agree!
yess😲😍

Face and body foundations also does not turn orange. Can't think of the proper word. .lol

that's what I use it for. As a toner. lol.

Thank you for the info! You should def have your own blog to posts more info on makeup, so helpful!
Fix plus oxidizes foundation???
I agree with you with the Fix Plus and when I use it I notice it literally wipes my makeup off so fast.

I find mac shadows to be a waste of money. They are not pigmented enough for the price
it really depends what eyeshadow you use, I have problems with some of them being overly pigmented, and some not pigmented at all..
Makeup Geek eyeshadows are hands down MUCH better! I'm in love with them, by far the best eyeshadow I've ever tried!
Try NARS. I love how pigmented their eyeshadows are.
Yeah MUG is great. And I've swatched nars. Saving up for those because they ARE worth the money! And you get more too. Kiko is great too check them out
Only the matte brown family shades are good, others were misses

They can afford not to tell in china and people stopped buying from them because of their poor ethical stance on this
+Charlene Vickers I agree. Nobody loves animals more than me but my own species is more important.
+Loralee Bergdall Animal testing is still the most effective way. Human testing is very limited. There is only so much that they are allowed to do regardless of what a human consents too.
Thank you for your time in doing this!!! We love you Wayne!
How can you talk about MAC and not mention their lipsticks!
+kat ch because most mac lipsticks are great and I think everyone knows.
Belinda Short That's true :P Didn't think it that way.
Thank you for making these videos. I'd be lost without you! And all that stuff in the info bar, you're amazing!!!! x
Nikki tutorial is crazy over the soft ochre eye shadow primer. This is why y can't ever trust a big timer UA-camr.
I LOVE YOU! boy you are so gorgeous. love your videos c:
I know isn't he cute?
honesty, ALL of the beauty gurus, you are THE guru. You are the bestbestest of them all. you are really professional
MAC Fix+ is not a fixingspray, it's only to make your Make Up looks more naturally
Hey goss! Just want to tell you that i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos!! They are SOOO helpful & I love your british accent ^-^
can u please, please, pleeeeaaaaase!!! do a review for cruelty freee cosmetics??? PLEASE!!!!!!!!
ASTRID PALMA can you please define "cruelty"? *this is going to be fun*
+Mari truff Cruelty products: something tested on animals or something that hurt somebody or something else. Simple as that.
Everyone hurts animals and organisms by eating them in a daily basis. By your definition this is "cruel" too.
I could just listen to you talk all day! Love your vids
Is it - A. Cannabis B. Pink Eye or 3. No sleep that has caused the red eye look there? LOL :-P
I feel like fix+ should be on the best mac products but only for dry skin... Its used as a refresher/finishing mist or to fix makeup when it's looking a little dull/powdery so i absolutely love it for face or eyeshadows. I think it's definitely not meant for oily skin!!!
I couldn't agree more ... And I never thought I'd say that to a MAN ;-)
completely agree about the lustre eyeshadows..i'm a mac fanatic, but I hate those!
Prolong wear foundation is awful! Even cheap drugstore foundations can be better :/
Im so happy ive started to watch your vids again, i actually trust your views on makeup!!! Very straight to the point and u say it how it is
The mac prep and prime eye primer works well for me!
I even pop some on throughout the day to refresh
enjoyed this video. wanted to mention that i like the new, brighter lighting and closer lens setup you have been using lately/
I use the prep and prime eye product just as a concealer! I tried using it as an actual eye primer, and I realized it did nothing to help. So I am glad I am not the only one that uses it as a concealer!!
Hi,you mention cream makeup is best for covering pores, could you tell me which one I can buy thank you for you're help. Hugs Carla
It gives a really nice effect, even if you have really light skin like me :)
xx
I love the Fix +. Like you said if I use powder it makes my skin look so much better when I spray it...
i bought them also. i do like the purpley grape color one. its gorgeous if used with UD purple and blues. I think its the watery consistency when applied thats so putting off
I use an Urban Decay primer potion before a paint pot and don't layer eyeshadow above, and I ove it! It doesn't crease at all!
You've answered your own question! It's a type of highlighter, so you could wear it on your cheekbones or eyebrow bone. Goss make up artist has got a tutorial on highlighting if you need to have a look! x
I love the matchmaster foundation :))) Just love it
I really like MAC Studio Fix Fluid, been using it for years as I can achieve natural look or build it up for more coverage, I didn't have any break outs from it.
I love paint pots. I take them everyday on my lids and they work. I have oily lids and take them as a primer and i love it. :)
Wayne, I love you! I also love how you look into the camera when you speak now, it made me blush lol. Love ya!!!!
I melds with the other product and does make the look last longer, than if you just spray it on the face and let in dry on its own.
i like how you give great advice on saving money on products as well as your advice on makeup :) x
PLEASE do a video on your favorite primers! My eyelids are so oily even mac shadows crease on me! xx
@Najima BAco, the "baby version" of "this" he was talking about was a mini Fix +. It was just a smaller container of the Fix +. :)
Prep & Prime eye primer is meant for crepey textured lids, not for longevity of eye shadow. Longevity you should use paints or paint pots.
you could also try getting rid of them. use a sugar scrub on the stretch marks when in the bath or shower which removes all the dead skin and promotes healing, then use bio-oil as often as you can throughout the day.
I could literally watch your videos all day
Fix+ was actually made to go with the Studio Fix line (hence the name), and to take down the very cakey look that the makeup can give you.
Prep & Prime Lip is fantastic.
u r the best make up artist here on youtube!!! luv ur videos
one of my first and favorite mac shadows has lustre finish and since then I usually preferred to try and buy these ones but I wasn't so excited in general (except from my big love: swimming) and never thought it was the finish...
I agree the big bounce shadows were the worst, it was hard to sel them bc I hated them so much. What do you think about the prolongwear concealers???
Fix+ spray is meant to get rid of the powdery look. That's what it was made for. Its not compatible with oily skin. If you read the ingredients it does contain castor oil. Its not oil free, so if you have oily skin always ask for oil free products.
It's funny that you mentioned the Mac prep+prime eye primer. I was reading a blog yesterday asking what the worst eye primers were and it kept coming up over and over!!!
Loooove this review! I'm gonna go out and try the fix plus :) Also, you MUST tell us where you got your diamond-studded hoop earring, please!! Thank you!
