I’ve been using the 1oz polypropylene little cups with lids from Amazon but these look easier to stack and label. Plus they match with the bigger clamshells and are adorable ☺️
Just beginning my candle business and you have been such a huge help and inspiration! This is such a good idea! How long do you cure your wax melts for?
Erica, I was wondering if you can help me out. I’ve been trying to figure out when I buy the 1 ounce samples of oil. How do I figure out how much wax for 1 ounce of oil? This math stuff has me in tears!😢
Hi Erica! I have just gotten into making wax melts and made my first two little batches last night with some sample fragrances. I tried looking this up but couldn't find much on it. I used the double boiler method to melt the wax and I slowly increased the heat on my stovetop so that the wax didn't overheat but on both tries, the wax very very quickly came to a temperature over 185 after stirring. Is there a set number you are supposed to use on the heat so that the wax will get to that 185 mark pretty accurately? Also this was another issue I had. When I pulled the wax from the burner and added my fragrance oil, the temperature dropped almost to the pouring temperature before I had even stirred for the recommended two minutes, so by the time I was finished stirring, the wax was around the 160-150 mark. I really don't understand why that would happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
I use these also because I couldn't find smaller ones. If you know where I can get the smaller ones I'd would greatly appreciate an answer. I also suffer from not filling my samples the same weight except when I put them on a scale. Lol
Hey Erica, I am a fan of your videos😀, I have a question and it may seem like a dumb one but here it goes. Should I be putting warning labels somewhere on my wax samples and if so how would I put a warning label on the 1 oz clam shell? Thank you so much for sharing your valuable information.
Hi Erica. Thank you for this video. 💖 This could be super helpful for molds that I have. How did you determine the density of water and the wax in order to determine the difference?
Amazing videos as always! Quick question for you! I want to make samples to give out at different locations. Do I have to use the wax melt/tart wax or can I use the wax I use for my actual candle jars?
Hmm, well what products are you advertising for? Do you sell wax melts or candles? If you are giving away wax melt samples, you have to assume that they will use it as a wax melt and put it in their wax melter. Using container wax in a wax melter isn't necessary a "no-no" but it's usually not meant for those purposes because it will be really soft and it could be a little frustrating for the recipient to work with. I say if you sell both candles and wax melts, you can giveaway wax melts as scent samples (using tart wax). Or you can make mini tealight samples using container wax. :)
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo thank you so much!! Makes perfect sense! I’m starting out with candles first and then moving to the melts as well! I like the term “scent sampler”. So I’m going to use the tart wax in the individual clamshell as samples! I was just afraid that the fragrance may appear different from the tart wax than the container wax!
@@Officiallybrii No you shouldn't get a noticeable difference in scent between the two kinds of waxes in most cases :) Both my candles and melts smell the same!
Wait, Erica, you said you are a college dropout? No wayyyy, I have 2 college degrees and I could hardly wrap my mind around this math!!! I was terrible at math. Will definitely use your formula 👍👍👍
Yes! so if you want to know how much fill weight of wax is needed, fill it with water first and multiply that number by 0.86 (or 86%) and it will give you your wax fill weight! I learned this from both Jeff Standley and Kevin from Armatage Candle Company!
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo okay this might be dumb, idk lol but it is .86 when using ozs as well? When I googled water to wax density, it said 86% and it used ounces, so I'm confused ha ha Being able to measure in water first would be so much easier ha ha
i am not sure what the hype is with TW-30 wax. I have tried it with several oils and it does not throw at all. In my opinion the best wax to get is a parasoy.
It’s always interesting to hear how people have different experiences with different waxes! I absolutely loveee TW-30 and have gotten incredible feedback from it, but I totally understand that people may not have the same experience!
Let me stock up before sold out. Oversaturated everything!! You tube downside🙄. People dnt learn something then create their own version. Everything is copied until its a burn out

Maple Street Candle Company has them also and are fairly reasonably priced.
I love making wax melts. And I’m so glad you made this video because I wanted to make sample packs too
I loveee making wax melts, too! ❤️

Oh these look so much easier to do than what im currently doing. I will definitely have to check out those 1oz ones! Thank you!!!
You’re welcome! ❤️
Thank you for sharing. What size of label do you use for this wax melt?
These are so cute ❤
Do you usually always do 13% FO on your melts with TW-30?
Hello Erica, which label size do you use
Great video thankyou, your videos are so inspiring and so helpful x
I'm so glad! Thank you for watching :)
Hello I appreciate all ur videos I learn alot from them. So I have a question so what size labels would you put on these?
what size lables? thanks
Hi there Erica! Is there a reason why you prefer grams over ounces when using your math candle formula?

Amazon
