It wasn't a warship, it was an automated exploration ship that was meant to take on passengers at an undetermined time after its launch. As an exploration ship, an observation deck is an obvious accommodation. On the other hand, running directly to that observation deck with its large window DURING a firefight is certainly an idea of dubious value.

even if even if it was a warship remember she was a million years old and no maintenance all that time it was a miracle she was still moving by that point let alone capable of putting up any kind of a fight nothing onboard was working like it should have been due to age and wear and tear so even if she was a warship she was no longer capable of putting up the fight she could have put up when she was brand new keep that in mind to

I think Young tried that in his second attempt and even more Nakai motherships showed up and the result was the same.
It was destiny trying a kobayashi maru on Young as Young at this point fell into depression and doubted his ability as a leader, Destiny was basically trying to get him back in the saddle by putting him though situations that are unwinnable, making him a better decision maker, showing him that he will need to face death and these situations time and time again.

When The Destiny was Young , she would have been able to Swat those Pesky aliens aside easily .
Don't forget , the Old Girl was only running on 40% Power storage capacity . That never got repaired . No understanding of the Technology .
Also carrying 500,000 to 1,000,000 years of deterioration and damage . Automated or not I think she could Fight when needed .

To me these Stargate shows were so inspiring that it made me wonder. Everyone should know that after 2016+ years, we as humans manage to get to where we are today, by defying all odds and prove doubters that the notion of "its impossible". I have what I would call conjecture at this point. I'm wondering if Young's third time around in this simulation could have been the inspiration for the ending scene of Breaking Bad's "Crawl Space"? The SGU scene came first, and I believe it could have been around the time that Louis Ferreira would have auditioned for Declan, and he would have possibly had to first send clips of some of his best dramatic moments for his audition.

Also dont forget that the Destiny ship is about 50 million years old and it is still functioning! The reason why its weapons are weaker than the Lantean ships seen in other SG series is because it was built way before Atlantis and Orion class battleships, not to mention that it's main purpose was not military usage, but exploration. This battle was like a 1 M9 half Track vs 9 M1 Abrams Tanks...

The first season was pure poop. I remember when they said that the reason they were cancelling SGA was to create a more mature show like bsg. so basically, they took a crap on five million fans of sga for a more adult themed show like bsg and couldn't get more than 2.3 million viewers. they wanted to add gay characters and have more craziness like suicides and sex and all sorts of things. so we basically told them to get bent. i remember sifi banning a sleuth of stargate fans who were up in arms. most of them were banned because they cancelled sg1 for pain killer jane and flash gordon. following an episode of the hawkmen on sifi, a bunch of us immediately shared our chagrin. ironically however, the creators of SGA was asked by sifi if they were sure about abandoning SGA's success for a more battle star galactica themed series. when the ratings fell, the guys behind the scenes blamed the embittered fans, and not the poor writing or of how every episode was about feelings, suicide and homosexuality.

*Three* You are not a writer nor have your ever written anything complex. SG1, SGA and SGU are shows with their own interdependent themes. Some SG1 and SGA episodes were poorly written, but you don't see me jumping on a dumb band-wagon.

We'd quote their comments and cite sources....for months and months and months.....however funny bunny, i, and hundreds of others were warned repeatedly at scifi.com about our venomous replies up to the release of sgu, with a great many of my former net friends being banned.
i was warned repeatedly so i just stopped going there and do you want to know why, funny bunny, it's because the executive producers said that they were canning sga, a 2.5-4 million viewers a week show in an attempt to make a show that'll be more along the lines of battlestar galatica.. and to make it edgier, they tossed in gay and sex. pathetic fools they were. immediately the new series tanked. first episode had 2.4 million and it dropped from then on.
my family, other families would sit every friday night before the tube for a family orientated show, less the nasty gay and sex stuff. but sgu was pure gay and pure sex....and pure angst and pure edgy emo b.s.

The section he was in had lost power and as a result none of the doors in that area were operational. That's why he called over the radio to seal off the entire area around the observation deck.

Well, it was designed to locate something, that's why it carries the name "Destiny," it happened to be the only self sufficient shit in the entire series, as it recharged in stars. I got tired of what seemed like we Earthlings being shown as destroyers of everything we touch, zero point modules that last 10,000 years depleting in a single episode, ships that survived 1000's of years getting destroyed in a single battle.

I really don't understand those series... they have a much higher light speed with their spaceships and they do not use that speed during attack ? if I were smart... I would have a huge (mega) shield and I attack only with the speed like a kamikaze (though enemies 100% successful and I would play pinball) !! am I the only smart existing person to think about such option ?

This isn't Stargate. This is Battlestar Galactica with Stargate cameos. Good riddence to bad rubbish.

***** Well SGU was more like Voyager than BSG. There wasn't the stake of being the last surviving humans. And it was better than Voyager, since unlike that ship, this crew didn't have a clue what they're doing on the ship. Most of the exploration wasn't of different planets, but of the giant ancient ship.

It was much less like Voyager in one BIG way, though. Events of one episode had consequences in the next. Voyager was supposed to be alone, the only Federation vessel on the other side of the galaxy, and yet we scarcely saw a hair out of place, a bulkhead ruptured, anything that lasted. There were some character arcs, sure, but for the most part, Voyager tried to be another TNG “let's go exploring", new monster or race each week. Whilst Destiny had some of that, too, it from day one had bigger arcs and it had repercussions that lasted. They lost people. Destiny had a character blinded, permanently. Tuvok got blinded in Year Of Hell, and honestly, that episode was the closest we got to seeing Voyager have a sense of consequences, and the difficulties of being alone on the other side of the galaxy. I'd say in this regard SGU *was* much more like BSG than Voyager.

This most certainly was Stargate: Universe and not BSG.
