  • THIS LAKE SURROUNDS THREE COUNTRIES(Germany, Austria & Switzerland) & is incredibly beautiful during the Summer! We traveled 4 hours from our home near Grafenwohr to Lake Constance in Southern Germany! We went camping for the first time ever this Summer in Lindau. We took a scenic boat ride(that we almost missed), explored the beautiful old town on Lindau Island, went swimming with the most stunning view of the alps & then ended our night eating good ole ramen noodles… ;) Camping at its finest! We end out this video with a flash forward to our way home from our Switzerland. We stop at Rhine Falls in Switzerland and had a precious moment watching Willa take in Mother Nature! :)

This video makes me very nostalgic. I was born there and grew up in Constance. My grandfather was a captain on one of the bigger ships that cross the lake between all 3 countries. I spent so many days with him on the bridge, honking the horn every time we approached the harbor. It was the early 80s though - nobody cared if he brought a 5/6-year-old kid to work.

Wow, what a transition. From one end of Germany to the other. Willa has definitely become the star of your videos. Funny "dumb tourist" story: I was biking in the Bodensee area and saw a sign to "Wasserburg", which basically means "water castle", so I decided I wanted to see the castle and followed the signs. Went through a town and saw the sign again, pointing in the other direction, so I follwed that sign. After doing that a couple of times, I pulled out my phone and looked at the map. I found out that the name of the town was "Wasserburg" and that there was no castle🤗! Good time to visit, not too full.

Fun fact: You missed something unique: The border situation between Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Lake Constance is undefined. To avoid conflicts, the three countries came along to treat most of the lake's surface as a common territory of all three countries. On the lake you are in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the same time - there are some other spots where you can be in two countries at the same time, but there's no other place to be in three countries at the same time.

Nice video! I recommend you a lot to check out the Kaiserstuhl region with a daytrip to Freiburg, Taubergießen and eventually Europa Park Rust.
The Kaiserstuhl is also called German Tuscany because of its unique landscape and the best climate in all over Germany. It’s an old volcano with huge wine terraces that literally no tourist knows. If you want to taste a real good German wine and great (a little french influenced) food- that is the place to do it!
Taubergießen is a nearby located nature reserve, bordering France. The arms of the old rhine are also called German Amazonian. It’s a landscape that you can’t find elsewhere in the country with dozens of unique animals and the possibility to do an impressive canoe tour. The internationally known theme park Europa Park is also right next to it (perfect for families).
And lastly Freiburg is a real must-see if you are in Southern Germany! It’s one of the best preserved old towns in the country with a lot of international students. Besides that I don’t know any other german city that is surrounded by so much nature.
Check out our beautiful southwest, you’ll love it! And keep on making these videos, it’s amazing and so different to the standard german tourist rout videos. You guys are amazing!

You nailed it! There is so much to explore round lake Bodensee. You should return one day. Next time for instance try a boat ride from Lindau to Bregenz and have a ride up to the mountain Pfänder. The views from that mountain vantage point down on Bodensee are breathtaking. Before or afterwards you can visit the famous location of the Bregenzer Festspiele. It is an Open Air Opera stage built in the lake. Very special. Instead of Switzerland (south) you can turn to the east and visit one of the most iconic landscapes in Germany. The Oberallgäu. Highly recommended. Try Ferien auf dem Bauernhof. Willa will love it!
P.S. The Zeppelin you saw is a Zeppelin NT. Its homebase is Friedrichshafen. A city further west on the coastline. The home of the historic Zeppelin shipyard.

The Zeppelin NT seen in the video is built and based in Friedrichshafen. Strictly seen those are not really zeppelins (full-rigid airships) but half-rigid ones, i.e. a mixture of a zeppelin and a blimp. The newer "blimps" owned by Goodyear are however nowadays also Zeppelin NTs.
There is also the Zeppelin Museum in the harbor train station of Friedrichshafen. Where they have rebuilt parts of the passenger section of the LZ129.

Krass, what a change from windy top northern area to nearly most sunny south. Tanner, your sunglasses fits now (Y) :-D Seems to me that water is Willas environment and she may turn into as we call it here into a Wasserratte(water rat but not with bad meaning of a rat behind, just to people who realy, realy love being in the water and dont care) As soon as possible you should teach Willa swimming. I am sure at home there will be many options where kids get teached by professionals in groups of kids. Oh, you have been back to the roots doing camping. Lots of kids like it to do and even it can be cheaper for a family. Hope you didnt miss the island Mainau and the area Unteruhldingen and Mersburg opposite to Constanz and itself. enjoy your trip.

Bregenz is very nice and has a famous stage on the sea. There is a cable-car, that brings you up to the Pfänder-Mountain, with a beautiful view over the Bodensee. Insider-tip: Just a couple of trainstations away is Dornbirn, with a cable-car bringing you up to the Karren-Mountain, which is even more beautiful and not so touristy.

Ha, I knew it, Willa could easily get through life simply on charm. A little smile, a slight tilt of the head, and she'd get what she wanted from total strangers, including Bretzeln.
😁 She is still so adorably cute, I still don't know how she does it.
Love your videos, and it seems you have a lot of free time right now, as you are constantly traveling around. Nice that you are discovering so much.
Especially that you give Willa so many wonderful experiences, as well as broadening her mind from the earliest age onwards. I can only see her develop into an open-minded, interested girl, and later on, a young woman with you two caring for her.
Oh, and the Fürstentum Liechtenstein is also known as a tax haven, which probably has more foundations of all kinds, as well as company headquarters represented simply through a bronze plaque at some buildings entrance than it has inhabitants.
I love that specific spot at the Rheinfall. I recognized it immediately, with its little tunnel through the rock, the spray-slicked steps, and the constant roar of the waterfalls. While it is nowhere as magnificent as Niagara Falls, you usually can get a lot closer to the base than at Niagara. The views are still specatcular.

Fun fact about lake constance: Alcohol limit is 0.8 instead of 0.5 like on any other German, Austrian or Swiss lake. It counts as international waters and Switzerland changed very late from 0.8 to 0.5. So you are allowed one more beer on Lake Constance captain 😁

Oh nice, happy to see you made it to the LoC, my home (I was born there and lived there until I went out for studies) and it is an amazing region (maybe with a bit of an lack in infrastructure, cause there is no real city and a lack of urban areas which is great but ofc leads to a lack of options for transportation etc.). I was born near the City of Meersburg and I would highly recommend to visit the region again and explore the Citys of Meersburg and Überlingen, the Island Mainau in front of Konstanz (can go there by boat from Uberlingen or Meersburg as well), the Pfahlbauten at Uhlingen, the Affenberg in Salem and the Marienschlucht including the animal park at the Bodanrück.
But as you said, the near distance to the alps made the region in my opinion to one of the most valuable regions in Germany when it comes to quality of life. So I enjoyed going skiing during wintertime by bus or hiking in autumn. In autumn (starting at probably mid of August) there are also Whinefestival in literally every town around the Lake.
And going for a swim in the LoC is the best you can do. No salty water, no sharks, just clean fresh water :-) At the LoC we always say "Wenn ich den See seh, brauch ich mein Meer mehr" (The I see the Lake, I don't need a Sea anymore).
