    Ey man , good shit, no one really talks about weight distribution and half steps!, Major key keep updating!

    Thanks for the tips! I can do it...but I "step on" every time. My soul foot locks on, then I bring my front foot over. So instead of a single "click" on to the ledge/rail with both feet, it's like "click-click." Almost like doing a makio and just bringing my other foot over. Gotta work on it more, jumping with both feet. This is good food for thought!

    Good to see something at local Waitaingi park - my kid [9] is just starting to learn grinds on his aggressives, and having a local frame of reference will be positive for him and better for my parental heart as he spends all his time doing drop-ins off the high end of the bowl.
    Nice vid - BTW: good clear instructions.

    Would you say it's better to come at the ledge at an angle or parallel to it?? And when should you jump?

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  3 роки тому +3

      The videos hella old, I need to update it 😆
      For soul grinds I'd recommend coming at an angle.
      Jump wise, make sure it feels like you are coming down on the ledge, not only just getting your soul plate on. When to jump is hard to explain. It shouldn't feel like a leap but you also should be hitting the ledge on the way up.
      I hope this helps in some way ✌

    This is an old video. But maybe you will still reply :) Have you noticed any difference in skates with narrower soul plate (like m12)? I am talking about that tilt-lock. I am trying to learn to lock the soul, I can do that on coping, but on the ledge my foot does not tilt like this, Soul does not lock and I slip out :)

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  4 роки тому

      Yes, I have noticed that the M12 doesn't lock in the same as any other skate. Its much harder to do the tilt, it wont lock. You just have to tilt and balance instead. Its a bit harder but it's still possible. Looking at the end of the obstacle will still help the most.

    Hey mate back at it after 24yrs away. I'm skating m12 high with kizer fluid V flat set up. In an indoor skate park I can frontside but I struggle with ledges. Even though at one time I could soul grind , for some reason I'm really struggling with it. Part of it could be fear I'm mean I'm 40 now with a job and responsibility so time off is not an option. But I was wondering should I try front sides on anti rocker? And how doni stop myself falling backwards on any grind soul included? As a bonus question lol is there a different technique to grinding coping on a mini ramp or halfpipe? I've forgotten so much. Extra extra bonus question lmao. Does the fact that I'm top heavy and stiff have a lot to do with it. Back in the day I was 10 stone. Now I'm 16 and have done rugby and bodybuilding for years.

  • @neljav84
    @neljav84 5 років тому +2

    Do you recommend this trick if you're starting out or is the front side grind easier to learn? Which should I learn first?

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  5 років тому +1

      I would definately reccomend the soul grinds first. But I personaly learnt front side first. Just go with that feels safer for you.

      @@BrandonDrummond How tight or loose should your skate laces/cuff be for grinding? What do you prefer?

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  5 років тому +1

      @@neljav84 I prefer a tight skate. I'll pull the laces as much as I can, I'll have my Roces done up so on 3 teeth are left only the buckle. Tight is safer than loose. Just go to what feels comfortable for you.

      I've been practicing soul grind stalls. After a while practicing, I noticed pain on the outside edge of my feet from rolling on the edge of my soulplate. Is this normal? I'm super mega begginner at this.

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  5 років тому

      @@neljav84 It shouldn't be painful at all. What skates are you riding?

    Good tutorial thank u! Is there any tips u have to keep me from getting wheelbite? I have two middle wheels (not antirocker)

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  6 років тому +1

      Thanks man I hope it helped.
      I have trouble with that too in a flat set up. Id just reccomend trying to get lower and have more of your weight on your soul foot. You'll eventualy find the sweet point.
