  • Here we have a video showing a 7.25" model of a British Railways Black Five No. 45155 "QUEENS EDINGURGH".
The video was taken during a visit to the "Rainsbrook Valley Railway", which is home to the Rugby Model Engineering Society Ltd.
The video shows the loco being prepared for a run, then doing a full lap of the track, before being decommissioned.
The Rainsbrook Valley Railway is set in a 12 acre plot, and has a raised level track consisting of 2.5" 3.5" and 5" gauges. The raised track has recently been extended from 335m to 731m running length, so if you have not visited since before July 2021, then you will find a big difference and be in for a real treat if you were to take your loco and associated boiler cert and insurance details.
The ground level railway supports 7.25" gauge models only.
The railway lines are superb to run on, being of a proper bull head rail section.
The length of the railway is an amazing 1 mile round trip.
There are two 3 road stations along the route, which runs through a grassy meadowland and wooded area for variety, and under and over itself by means of substantial bridges and deep cuttings.
The members are very welcoming and friendly and are on hand to help with your needs.
The 7.25" track is made easily accessible to visiting locomotives and rolling stock via a marvelous hydraulic lift, (so no problems there).
Keep an eye out for their special visiting attractions and if you can, then be a part of it.
You will be glad you made the effort and the trip, to this fantastic and interesting society.
The real locomotive was one of 842 built between 1934 and 1951.
Numbered 45155 this locomotive carried the name Queens Edinburgh for a 2 year period between 1942 to 1944 as part of a wartime thing, where I believe six of these locomotives were specially named for a short period.
The real locomotive was broken up for scrap in 1964.
The model seen here in the video was broken up in 2021, some parts scrapped, some parts sold on to other modeler`s and some parts kept by the owner who is currently using them in the build of his latest masterpiece in "miniature", the details of which will be revealed at a later date, so watch this space for further updates upon it`s completion.
I must make an apology for some of the poorer quality scenes in this video, but I have had all manor of difficulties in the production of this video, but at least you will get the flavor of the railway, were you to visit there.

      Hi Brian,
did he drive the real locomotive ?
Was it called Queens Edingurgh at the time he drove it, as it only carried the name for a short time I believe.
